haha. I get that too when I leave work, sad truth is that even when I'm dressed like a weekend contractor they still couldn't tell me anything I don't already know, about inventory or otherwise. It's sad.

I don't know how many of you can get your wife/significant other to help but mine just drags the kids into the SCO and they stand there trying to be in the way while I scan penny items. Another good one is both going to the SCO at the same time and one asking for a price check (or how to use the SCO) while the other scans pennies and leaves.

Tried this. My wife is a horrible distraction apparently because I still got caught. Not sure what that says about her:dunno:

I once had a plan to have a family member go streaking through self checkout in an attempt to ring up a DeWalt table saw for a penny......he only wanted beer and wings in return

Just had an exhilarating penny purchase experience at my local HD over 3 tile saw blades. I rang them up and while the sco person was freaking out over them being a penny I finished the transaction and grabbed my receipt.

She was saying how they couldn't sell them and I was like uh...you already did. To humor her I decided to hang out and wait for the MOD. She was freaking out after she found out I had already completed the transaction. Was giving me some spill about how they would get in trouble with the federal government for selling pennies items because of HAZMAT. The other sco person had said it was a tax issue.

Some other dude was saying that it's ok to sell just one item but not anymore??

Eventually she said she'd have to void the transaction and just give them to me. I was like, what about the federal governments rules?? She mentioned that since the transaction was voided there would be no record of me getting them. She was then telling me there are exceptions to the federal governments rule but just for spray paint and bug spray as they are ok with for those type items.

Freaking mind blowing experience. I've never seen so many employees freaking out over anything. Their manager must put the fear of God in them.

I think they got confused but Home Depot got in trouble selling products that were recalled. If HD wanted to stop penny deals whey don't they change the price to 9,999.99 RTV pull deals? I personally had a little drama using a store computer the other day A HD lady asked if I was an associate and if I needed help. I was by the pro desk because they have more terminals and is close to the tool corral.

I need 3 of those fans for that price.

Going to look this weekend. I just bought a house and it come with zero fans. Florida is hot, I need fans.

My closest store had 3 Paslode guns the last time I was in. Will check the price on those too.

Scored 6 of the Paslode nailers at 2 stores this morning for $100.03. Had one store hold them for me after I called to confirm stock last night, then when I got in this morning the manager told me they don't hold clearance items and won't do it again (I called 30 minutes before closing last night and showed up 30 minutes after they opened - give me a break). Each was showing 4 in stock, but only had 3 on hand. Another store near me shows 1 in stock, but it's nowhere to be found. A few other stores are still at the $300.06 price, maybe they'll drop next week.

It shows up on their screen as well.

When a penny item triggers a "See attendant for assistance" at SCO, does this happen automatically in the system or because the SCO cashier sees the penny purchase and manually interrupts the transaction? I have had penny items go through fine and other times I get the message and they come over, so just wondering if they're seeing it on the screen and jumping in.

usually because either the attendant triggered it or because you scanned the wrong bar code. always scan the real UPC bar code on the box.

When I had penny items pop up, the cashier at the garden checkout told me that she had to have manager approval if the price reduction was over $50 off regular price... I.E. she could sell me 6 cans of wasp spray at a time for $.06 because regular price was $8, $48 total, but add a fourth one on the receipt and the system wouldn't let her do it. Since it resulted in a $55.93 discount and tried the flag on the system. I think I had four receipts that day from that wonderful lady who "Didn't want to call the MOD way out to the garden center".

when you buy nailers at $.03 price, it's way more than $50 discount, so that voids her excuse lol
Anyway, penny items don't show up as a "discount" at the register.. a discount has to be manually entered in, such as a coupon or military 10% discount.

This.

I've used a coupon, etc and the discount was more than $50 so they had to get a manager, but otherwise they don't need "approval".

all of them tell which ever story they want to hear, That is funny. The rep for Milwaukee ridgid echo ryobi was changing out batteries on echo lawn stuff today. He said he had to send them in. He put a brand new battery in a tool and zip tied the switch so it would run down.20% off harbor is more than $50.

Sometimes it's because the item is completely out of their system. That happened to me when I found the Ashville sink faucet and shower/tub faucet set. The sink faucet rang up fine for a penny, but the shower/tub set immediately pops see attendant. It wouldn't ring up at the register either. Happened on two separate occasions. We were scanning the box barcode. They gave me the penny faucet, but tried to use a generic SKU with the online price for the shower/tub set, so I left that behind.

Where did the $25 off shown in the picture come form? A coupon? When I tried to use a coupon on my $150 deal purchase, it zeroed out the $150 discount just as it is shown in your picture. Did you try without the coupon?

Regarding the Paslode and the discount - did you figure out if the Paslode was the primary item triggering the promo or the second qualified item? I don't see any other item in the picture, so was it acting as both the primary and secondary items?

nope...tried it also without the discount at customer service desk...she scan the nailer and different milwaukee, ridgid and even the promo ridgid stuff.....nothing....they couldn't find by the promo ### details on what other item tied into would trigger the discount.... I gave up.... but I need that magic other item that would make that $150 kick in for real....instead of Zero discount..... Damn it....It could have been super killer deal...2--paslode -$150...haha...could get both for $50....that's the plan...

If anybody can try and find that magic item or ways to give that $150 discount would be great...so far...the $150 promo pops up but no $$ discount.

I wonder if they got smart enough to not allow the discount to apply to "clearance" level items? Nah, this is Home Depot we're talking about!

I am curious though if somehow Paslode is "coded" in the system as pneumatic, powder or gas actuated instead of cordless. THAT might not allow the discount to be applied.

And last year I had the same experience as pdxman1: I would see the discount show up but it would be 0.00 if I tried to apply another coupon (i.e. Lowes 10% off). A nice cashier tried it every which way while I was there.....scan Lowes coupon first, last, etc. The only discount that would stack was the 5% "Lowes match" and the 10% "first time HD card use". Interesting note is that the first time use thing can be used multiple times, if the cashier happens to scan the wrong barcode

Lunch haul.. Didn't want to chance penny price so pulled trigger at 100.03

Thanks for the heads up on this.

I purchased one in Garland TX last night for $100.03. Found it up on the top shelf and the box was very dusty. Brand New and sealed.

There are about 7 stores close enough for me to check in on often ranging from Roseville, to Rancho Cordova, to West Sac and everywhere in between. Scored 3 each at the Natomas and West Sacramento stores this morning. Still holding at .06 at the Arden and Rancho stores I believe.

Thats a good deal on the GTS1031, would rather have that than the DW745 for 229. Wonder if Bosch is finally releasing that table saw with flesh detection therefore discontinuing other models.

Ok, probably buried somewhere on the forum.

I think MOD is Manager On Duty
I think SCO is Self Check Out

But what is MET stand for which are the folks who showed up at HD and go through inventory.

TIA
