Was informed today that product in the over head area is not considered on "the sales floor" so they don't have to sell it to me, even though I accessed it with the stairs homedepot provides to access the items, I then asked the manager to get me a pair of the tool boxes down off the very top shelf so I could buy them, once they spent 45 minutes getting them down I said "sorry not on the sales floor I cant buy them"

My Dad had a guy that kept calling about drill bits, he would call on Sunday nights, drove my Dad nuts. Finally one call, Dad said send me two of your biggest sets, send them COD. Of course when they arrived, he refused them. He never got another call again.

she was pissed because I found 8 faucets in the isle and she got all huffy that I was searching for penny items, (correct) while i was at SCO she insisted i was hiding the items in the store to come back later and get, I turned around and pointed out the stackable bins that are penny items right on the end cap, and asked if i hid those well enough,

That's funny. Way to throw it back at them.

I have heard the overhead excuse as well. If they can sell from it for non penny items, its a cop out excuse to say they can't sell penny items from it IMO.

Also, IMO, if you get them to take a penny down from the overhead, then they scan it and say you can't have it once they get off the ladder, it is technically no longer in the overhead and is now on the sale floor! :lol_hitti They probably wouldn't go for that one though...

Picked a few up, those that had them on the floor tagged at 259. Other stores have them in the rafters and not trying to move them.

If you look online they are listed at 399.00 Lowes has them at 399 and get a 20% off and your close to 320.

So if they are stewing in the upper rafters and nobody paying attention I'd almost let them ride. Problem is when will they drop? I've got about 15 I'm watching....

These went back up to 399 last week at the stores around me. Looks like the item got re-activated in the inventory system.

Sorry to ask again...I need to choose which compressor to keep since I have some work to do this weekend!
From looking at the comparison, it seems the DeWalt quiet 2.5 gallon has better specs as far as output, etc...
Is that correct?

I've attached the comparison page of the three compressors that have been discussed recently. I will be using it for trim/molding.

No pics, but found a Home Depot manager who didn't GAF about clearance haha. I bought the white Makita 18V lithium drill with two batteries and a 12" Ridgid Miter saw the other day. The manager just halved the prices for me....paid $70 for the drill and $75 for the saw. The saw was originally $300 new!

lol what kind of favors did you promise to get them to cut a clearance price in half? was it a display model?

seriously.. roses? chocolates? bat your eyes a bit?

in reality, the manager was doing his job. the whole point of clearance is to get rid of it.

Quick tug and go. That's my specialty.

But nah, I was honestly just looking at them and he walked by and my girlfriend snagged him and asked him if he'd cut a deal. I wasn't watching but I'm assuming she batted her eyes   They weren't display models...they were new in box.

My thoughts exactly! Had 5 Nutones over the weekend they got down for me. Snagged me in SCO and turned into a massive fiasco with a LP guy involved. Gave me the same BS that those technically were not for sale since they were way up to behind the mesh. Of course this was AFTER the MOD tried to sell them to me at last clearance price. LP then kicked me out of the store.

Interesting I'll have to look today, it's been 2-3 days since I checked. I know lowes has the same model marked down to 399. Guy mentioned he had a 20% coupon and wasn't going to waste my time but would I take 320 for the saw. Was non committal to him. I had another deal fall through but he came back a day later asking if I still had it...

Gotta improve your game on that, initially indicate an item next to the pennies. If he pulls out his price checker move on and try later. Keep working till you get someone who doesn't care and doesn't check the item. As they get the full price down.. Casually say. Hey can you grab those 5 boxes next to it. HAHAH

Might have to empty the whole rafter before you find one not pull the price checker. HAHAHA

Oh, they had no problem getting them out of the overhead for me and helping me put them on the cart. It's when I was going through the SCO when the froze the transaction about 2 scans into it.

I've yet to have an employee actually scan something as they get it out of the overhead. They just grab it and hand it down to me and ask if there is anything else I want while they are up there

I don't get the $49 pry bars. How can they be that much better than the cheap stuff at Harbor Freight ?

USA made for starters, not cheap Chinese steel. I wouldn't want to be prying hard on a HF prybar and have it snap on you, that could cause some serious damage.

Has anyone had luck getting them to sell display power tools? Three different stores I've found 1 Milwaukee sawzall kit for $115 listed as on hand, they all claim its the display and won't sell it. I thought display models where DNI?

they usually are DNI. talk to the official store manager. if it's on clearance/inactive and they're not getting more, he should be able to sell it to you no problem. if it's a penny item though, that's when it gets tricky, but I usually still get it lol

I found a display, manager happened to be there and said he would sell it to me at clearance price, but he pointed out how the Milwaukee rep had glued on the battery into the power drill and that I would have to pry it open to be able to charge it, he said to keep in mind that I might end up with some more cosmetic scratches/damages, I decided to pass.

yea some things to watch for in display models..
Nailers = make sure they didn't drill a hole in it (some stores do, some don't)
Cordless tools + outdoor power equipment = if there's a battery installed, it's usually dead. I suspect that some of these are empty batteries and can't be revived.
Corded power tools = ask to plug it in and make sure it works.

they are striking pry bars aka the same as the pro craftsman with a different handle not the red handle craftsman set your talking about.

ive never had to do it, but ive been told by a friend that they banged on the red handle craftsman ones for 20+ years and never broke one. sears would replace it even if he did manage to break it

Purchased one of the .01 chainsaws as a display had the battery contacts taped up, removed taped functioned great.
Also tried to purchase a makita high torque impact wrenchs that was on clearence, it was tethered to the wall. I was told makita owns the display tools and they weren't the stores to sell. Not sure if he actually knew that.for a fact just made something up

I've been told that too, then 2 weeks later you'll see it on the clearance shelf. These employees just tell you the first thing that poops out their ****.

Found a Echo CS-370 chainsaw at one store (no SKU available, I don't think it was ever sold in stores). First manager claims she can't sell it because it's missing a part which makes it a "liability issue" (duh, every friggin display model is missing something). 6 weeks later (yeah, it's still in the store), another manager claims it's reconditioned, but can't find the SKU for it anywhere (no it's not reconditioned, and if it was, it would have a SKU engraved on it. It's also still missing the same part). So this manager says he can sell it but the other says she can't. The completely contradict each other. Brought it up to corporate to find out what the deal is with this saw and why the managers are all giving me BS stories. Now when I walk in that store, EVERY employee watches me. Newington, NH.
Managers there are pretty arrogant. The only SKU number available for that saw is a Canadian HD sku number, which pulls up some wooden thing (not the chainsaw) at penny price. I tried to play that one, but couldn't pull it off.

Just walked in a store that had the inventory team going through. People in maroon shirts scanning every single item. Total buzzkill.

lol that's RGIS inventory auditing. Follow them around and look for the cart that they're throwing all the pennies in. They don't work for Home Depot so don't worry about looking for pennies while they're there. Hell, you can even ask them to scan your stuff.
