Why in the world would you show an employee how to use the PCA?
That was not a wise move

Guys we have to read these posts carefully...I didn't show her and give her a lesson on how to use the pca. She tried to bring up the regular website and I simply said nope I need to go here and her response was wow didn't know that. She then proceeded to go about her business of changing tags on stoves and such..once again she could care less, but yes will be more secretive next time. if that older woman starts taking my deals..then I'll say she earned it and I'll wear the stupid hat.

Do you really think employee's don't know how to search for clearance stuff already? They got one up on us.....they work there....

This...

When I was talking to a manager regarding some penny items, he said there is no excuse as the employees have access to many things that can print reports for them of penny items, clearance items, etc.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The store employees have been and are getting way more deals than you guys are. HD, Menards, Lowes, Costco, Sams, etc...

One day I hit one of the computers in the store and it was up on the AS400 screens that they use for internal reporting. It sent a report to some printer but I couldnt find the printer!

This. The older employees, like a lot of old people, are absolutely CLUELESS when it comes to computers so most of them probably have trouble even using HD.com. I wouldn't be worried about them. It's the younger, tech savvy employees that are probably running circles around the rest of us snatching up the deals.

My green screen days have passed.. id be clueless lol

I remember them all too well, I wish I could forget it!

Oddly enough AS400 is still very much in use in some pretty large scale places. Costco and some casinos come to mind.

That's not really surprising, when i worked at lowes a decade ago they told us that 80-90% of theft was employees, not customers.

Talking about "old" computers still in use . . .
. . . .
. . . . . I was at Walmart near closing time and went to paint department.

Older guy helped me to match some paint and he had to turn back on the computer used for paint matching . . . . Yep . . . it was still running Windows XP !! ;)

Exactly!!!!!!! When i was talking with some younger guys about helping me find something right away he started talking about how they score a ton of deals, and how he sells a ton of **** on ebay!!!!!The simple fact is they are buddies with the MET team and I'm sure when that sticker or whatever says that generator for $500 is now $50,THEY know before we do. Obviously alot still skips by or else this thread wouldn't exist.I wish I had a dollar for every employee that told me the main benefit to working at HD was the deals they score. A

And actually I did have an older gentlemen tell me same thing, that a ton of stuff some hoe just grows legs and walks out the door from employees..You would think they could catch them..Makes you wonder if LP at times is getting a cut?

Just starting my penny deal searches and today at lunch tried a new store near work since the store I normally go to the PCA doesn't give stock at other stores which is weird. Anyway, the MET team did all the hard work for me today :)

Not much, but its a start. I may go see what they pull out this afternoon. They had a few things sitting in a cart with no one around.

I made the mistake and scanned the clearance sticker at the SCO and it said wait for attendant, it cleared, then I scanned the penny sticker, I think, they were close to the original sku. Then it came up .01. The lady was already walking over since it said I was having trouble, it beeped good, then she looked at the screen and did a double take, grabbed it from the bag and said she'd have to check with a manager. I said it scanned in and started the check out process (got a husky extension cord for 3.33 as well) and she eventually decided it wasn't worth her time and dropped it back in the bag and went back to talking. It was slow in the SCO. Not bad for my first time. Normally like $19.

You should start facilitating a Saturday morning in-store clinic on how to find penny items. Think they would kick you out?

Everett, MA. 7 more generator cords and a $9.33 steam mop. There's still 4 more steam mops there. Told the SCO lady that the cords were gonna ring up as a penny. She just smiled.

a lot of the ones i have found in the Chicago area are all nasty and covered in years of dust.,... or they are out of the box and the box is smashed beyond belief.

Thanks

Just curious on a deal like this, if my store is at full price I assume it has to go thru the "entire" markdown schedule before it gets to the sweet price?

Most likely, I can tell there has been a couple other stickers on these boxes. These came from the same store I scored the 3 Toro blowers at. Seems like they are clearing out the lawn section, all right on the floor at the endcap also in plain sight.

Never walk back through the self checkout with a paid penny item. Like if your going to get a nest at the CS desk. Stupid mistake.

Total of 17 more generator cords at 2 different stores.
Found some Moen Boardwalk faucets that came up not found. No luck. I think they're brand new and haven't been put in the system yet

So they told you it was recalled, return to vendor, and/or they dont sell penny items....?

You flash your receipt and go, or get your penny back?

I told her its my property and they don't have any business taking it regardless of the price. She was super hood and gave me a huge attitude. I said your lucky I don't call corporate to make a point because they will make you sell it. In the end not worth my time not worth a call to HD over a bit set.

I should just email them since they took **** out of my hands and see if they make them give it back for principle.

Went to buy a dewalt pancake. As I was checking out, the cashier called her husband while I was standing there (from the HD phone) to ask if he wanted one! You know the employees are getting some of these deals!

No pancakes around philly. But I haven't looked THAT hard. I'm gonna go with one of the huskys for personal use. The price will probably drop and I'll miss it, but the 99 price is a good price.

Hey Masters you know I went to the Pines store on Sunday while my wife was having my sons hair cut at the mall. Those Toro blowers were full price at this store they had like 7 of them. I've haven't hit many stores lately, and this weekend I'll be at Disney World, might hit up some stores up there.

Oh are you using the store computers, and if so are they giving you a hard time? I've only used it a couple of times.

You just have to look for the Toro's cause they came out with a new model "Ultra" with a gold label on the box.

I use the computers back in the appliance section all the time. Sometimes I'm at a computer for 15-20mins. Most employees just say hello or if I need help, just respond saying I'm good and just checking some prices. Never had an issue.
