My Home Depot has a 2 pack of the Diablo 7-1/4" 24T blades for $10. They had a whole display with them in the front, so I'm assuming its a fathers day special/nation wide...

any particular grit recommendations for a noob? I've only used my grinder with grinding wheels and cutoff wheels so far... Those prices seem good enough to pick up some just to have!

The prices were from $2-$5. I did compare them to Dewalt at Lowes ($8), and Dewalt on Amazon ($6).

I bought an assortment ranging from 24 grit to 120 grit. The 24 grit looks like course sand and is mean as hell. I would say the 80 and 120 grits would be most used, but nothing beats 24 or 40 for chewing rust.

The conical discs are angled slightly at 15 degrees, which is the recommended sanding angle when using these discs. I prefer the conicals, but at these prices I got some flat discs as well.

Goddamn this thread. I just bought the 30 Gal Kobalt compressor (to replace a 30gal CMan oilless i have hated for years) and 12 of those Pferd flap discs... SIGH.

I have to say thanks to this thread as well. I finally got the 60gal compressor I've been wanting for a long time. Of course, doing it on the spur of the moment, I can't afford to run electric to it or to plumb it in yet :lol:

It was posted a few days/pages ago before the welder fiasco. I waited a few days to order mine and many of them were sold out or prices had increased. Mine showed up today also though. The only thing im not keen about is the arbor. Its not threaded like the disc available to me locally are. But for half the cost Ill make due. Hopefully since this are minted in gemany and not mexico the abrasives will last a little longer and make them that much of a better deal. Im thinking of ordering a few more to stock up, but I would really hate to drop another $50 on them when I dont really need them right now

I like the discs in the 60-80 range. Go lower if you need to remove some meat, and go higher if you want to polish and the surface is smooth already. These discs are also more forgiving to your flesh than a wire wheel is, but it will heat the metal if left in one area too long. I like the flat discs for big flat areas, and the conicals for everything else.

Found Vaughan hammers for sale at Home Depot today. Got a 24oz and a 16oz ball peen for $21 total. They also had a rubber mallet ( like estwings, with one black and one white face ) for 10 bucks as well.

If you need metric you may consider searching for the 85988 "promo" set for a few bucks more:

KD85988 includes: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19mm
KD85987 includes: 5 pc add on set sizes 20, 21, 22, 24, and 25mm

if you need the bigger ones, of course. gl

Not sure if any of your wifes coupon but mine got a Craftsman coupon in this mailer called vocal point and it works the same as a $10 gift card inside. Say's on the outside $10 off any C3 purchase so I tossed it in the junk pile. My wife read a coupon forum and apparantly they would like you to buy the C3 stuff but it's good on anything. Pretty nice!

It is 85988+85987. I believe it is EXACTLY the same as the 17pc 85989 set, except at a lower price (~$200 vs. ~$270).

It was a limited quantity promo, so there aren't that many sets left out there. Not too hard to find at the moment though.

I didnt even think of that, it must be the wheels. I thought it was the belt that had CHINA written on it... but that probably wouldnt be that strong of a smell.

I'm thinking about buying this compressor. I thought it was made by another good named company or something?

The tank has a large 'Proudly assembled in the USA' sticker/flag on it, but the compressor motor has China stamped everywhere on it. The description decal on the unit says it is a Sanborn engine.

I have the previous version of the Kobalt 30 gallon compressor. It is the same model, but a different manufacturer. Anyway, it has to be about 5 years old, but recently I was doing a hardwood floor job and closed it up in an unused bedroom for the weekend. When I opened the door a couple days later it stunk like HF rubber in there. Those tires never give up that smell!

Rubber for sure from China has some kind of a funk to it, but I think maybe the oil coating for shipping is part of it. Smell is likely some kind of preservative, when it goes away the items may not last much longer, rubber go stiff etc.

GearWrench long pattern double set.
I decided to skip this one for two reasons, $200 is still serious money, and I think I would rather have a double standard box end instead of duplicating the size with a ratching box end. 27mm is the big size I use, not really 22 to 26.

I actually bought that 4" Cman vise last week. Just FYI - it is made in China (obviously for that price). And there are no replacement jaws available. The manual gives you a part number, but when you punch it in at partsdirect, it says they no longer make/offer it.

has anyone seen the home depot husky ratcheting wrenches? its a 5 piece set either sae or metric.. 20 bucks i believe... i was tempted to get it but then i put it down.. anyone have feedback on these?
