...the Home Depot across the street and getting three of those LED Maglites for 9.99 each.

You over paid, my friend. Only $9.98 at my HD! Bam!![]()

Yikes, I'll have to check my receipt, and if that's the case, I'll go back and get them to not only match the price but give me 10% of the difference!!!![]()
Ideally, yes. But a lot of times that Walmart mower may have a slightly different model number (123-A vs. 123). Additionally, stores are getting increasingly irritating with their unwritten clauses.Note that Lowes BEATS the better price by 10%. This is very ifferent from what most stores do, which is to refund 110% of the difference (which is what your post says that they should do). This generous policy is especially useful on high-dollar items, such as a riding mower. For example, say Lowes has a mower for $1200 and Walmart has it for $1100. At Lowes, you would end up paying $990 (10% lower than $1100) but at a store with a standard 110% of the difference policy, you'd pay $1090.

"Must be a local competitor"
"Must be a print ad"
"Must be a regularly carried item"
I tried getting a pricematch at Lowes on a HD item. Lowes associate called up HD and was told that the product was not on clearance but was not going to be reordered. PM was denied.
Other times, the manager will grant or deny a PM at his discrepancy. This is sometimes the case with any store that has "low-price guarantees." Home Depot, Lowes, and Sears' managers love to use this clause, as do electronics stores. Some of these stores have no mention that the product must be at a "local competitor", but they'll use it anyways and swat away any arguments.
Around here Staples won't price match Best Buy, and I'm sure the reverse is true as well.
While Home Depot won't price-match their website, Home Depot will. Sears will on occasion, and if they don't, you can usually just order the item in-store to be deloivered for free.
I've run into that at Wal Mart on a DVD burner, they added a couple of extra letters to the model number on the packaging but the unit inside had the same number as other retailers, a nice little Wal Mart scam.

That's pretty good - sounds like great management!Agreed, yes....and it is sad. I've had positive experiences, too, though. For example, they beat Sear's price for window blinds by 10%, even though the Sears stuff was on sale, not exactly the same model of blinds (but by the same manufacturer), and get this -- the Lowes included installation and the Sears did not!!!
Why don't Staples and Best Buy match each others' prices, btw?
HF, I don't know if they would take the 25% coupon on top of this:
3000lb aluminum jack $59. I've never heard of this jack failed on anybody, yet. assume it's good.

Got the very last one at my local store, stuffed up above in the overhead compartment. They priced matched my printout no problem. These have got to be the sloppiest pliers I've ever seen. The jaws will move 1/8" to either side (1/4" play) and they are not ground straight at the end. But, they do seem to lock and release well. For $5 I can't complain.
Generally... the fine print of the price matching policy excluse clearance items - but you never know when a clerk is having a good (bad?) day.
Sears has a special sale tonight for online purchases. 5%-15% off.
Where do you see this advertised? I only see 8%.
