Yikes, I'll have to check my receipt, and if that's the case, I'll go back and get them to not only match the price but give me 10% of the difference!!!

Note that Lowes BEATS the better price by 10%. This is very ifferent from what most stores do, which is to refund 110% of the difference (which is what your post says that they should do). This generous policy is especially useful on high-dollar items, such as a riding mower. For example, say Lowes has a mower for $1200 and Walmart has it for $1100. At Lowes, you would end up paying $990 (10% lower than $1100) but at a store with a standard 110% of the difference policy, you'd pay $1090.

Ideally, yes. But a lot of times that Walmart mower may have a slightly different model number (123-A vs. 123). Additionally, stores are getting increasingly irritating with their unwritten clauses.

"Must be a local competitor"
"Must be a print ad"
"Must be a regularly carried item"

I tried getting a pricematch at Lowes on a HD item. Lowes associate called up HD and was told that the product was not on clearance but was not going to be reordered. PM was denied.

Other times, the manager will grant or deny a PM at his discrepancy. This is sometimes the case with any store that has "low-price guarantees." Home Depot, Lowes, and Sears' managers love to use this clause, as do electronics stores. Some of these stores have no mention that the product must be at a "local competitor", but they'll use it anyways and swat away any arguments.

Around here Staples won't price match Best Buy, and I'm sure the reverse is true as well.

While Home Depot won't price-match their website, Home Depot will. Sears will on occasion, and if they don't, you can usually just order the item in-store to be deloivered for free.

I've run into that at Wal Mart on a DVD burner, they added a couple of extra letters to the model number on the packaging but the unit inside had the same number as other retailers, a nice little Wal Mart scam.

They all do this costco, target, walmart, etc.

Edit to add sometimes the different model number will come with a cable where the non "extra letters" will be the bare device.

Agreed, yes....and it is sad. I've had positive experiences, too, though. For example, they beat Sear's price for window blinds by 10%, even though the Sears stuff was on sale, not exactly the same model of blinds (but by the same manufacturer), and get this -- the Lowes included installation and the Sears did not!!!

Why don't Staples and Best Buy match each others' prices, btw?

That's pretty good - sounds like great management!

Staples' customer service said that since Best Buy is not an office supply chain, they weren't a competitor and thus invalid for a price match. It was either Staples or Office Depot. Circuit City pulled the same nonsense, and different Circuit Citys had different definitions of what "local" means.

Up in Binghamton, they said "local" was a 40 mile radius. Over here in Middlexex NJ, Circuit City wouldn't define local but said that J&R, which was 35 miles away, was not local enough.

I have that HF jack and it works great. I use it on the Vette and never had any issues. I think I bought it back in 04.

Got the very last one at my local store, stuffed up above in the overhead compartment. They priced matched my printout no problem. These have got to be the sloppiest pliers I've ever seen. The jaws will move 1/8" to either side (1/4" play) and they are not ground straight at the end. But, they do seem to lock and release well. For $5 I can't complain. :)

Here is another good deal (for some). Target is running a clearance of the Gladiator Fold-Away Workstation (Catalog #: 10453475).

Regular price is listed as $199.99 and they are on clearance right now for $49.98. You can find it directly on the Target website or via Amazon.com.

http://www.target.com/Gladiator-Fold-Away-Workstation/dp/B000ZO7LVW

For some lucky people, they will have these in stock at the local stores so you can actually get them for that price. For most of us, the stock at the local store is long gone so you have to pay bloated shipping fees making this not as great of a deal. For instance for me to order one the shipping is about $42 so that sort of ruins the "deal factor".

In any case it might be worth checking your local Target stores if you are interested.

Mine did... but it was short lived. They had a pretty nice display setup with the RTA cabinets and some of the wall mounted items, but I think it only lasted a couple of months and ****** they were gone.

Now my options for local purchases are Sears, Lowes, or Ace. I just picked up a tall RTA cabinet from Lowes for $288 which included the free RTA 28" wall cabinet (normally $128). Their wall items and geartrack pieces were all 25% off as well.

I'm building up my inventory slowly, but if I keep finding sales I'll eventually have everything I need.

Hmmmm. Wonder if it is worth effort to drive over to my local sears that has it in stock right now and attempt a pricematch. Probably not.

Generally... the fine print of the price matching policy excluse clearance items - but you never know when a clerk is having a good (bad?) day.

Exactly. If it was the Sears right by work I would try it, but I don't feel like driving 40 minutes to be told no. :D

Where do you see this advertised? I only see 8%.

He is correct. It's not advertised from what I can tell.

Go to bing.com and search for "sears tools" or whatever and click on the link for the sears site. You should see the bing cashback image in the upper right of the screen. Find an item. You should see the Get 20% back info on the item.

Dang. And I placed a $150 order last night. Grr.

Edit: I'm still only seeing 8%... (Grr)

Edit 2: No matter how I get there, the little Bing phrase doesn't appear on the Sears pages for me. Oh wells.

Edit 3: I see mention of Bing in the Sears product page sourcecode, but not on the page itself. What the heck?

Cheap drawer liners
Target has yoga mats for only $2.50. They're located in the bargin section just inside the front door. Plenty of colors to chose from.
