We can all learn a lot from this thread about how quickly one's reputation can be damaged. Its serves as a good reminder to conduct our business dealings with the same integrity we offer to friends and family. I, for one, am taking notes. You should too, and may I suggest you do it with one of these authentic Snap-On #2 pencils which I can sell you for only $49.99 plus shipping.;)

I am more upset then mad that someone on THIS forum would do this..

I dont know why but I like to think of the people on this forum would be on a higher standard, especially for things like this.

We all know that's fake, Snap-On never offered the #2 pencils with black hard handles. Only the modern hard handle colors.......red, green, orange. Anyone know if they have released them in blue yet?:lol_hitti

Wasn't he also selling fake SO dildos to unaware wives of the kool-aid drinking tool men.

I think it is past my bedtime. To Happy New Year to everyone, even those it hasn't hit yet.

We know the following for sure:
1. He sells a lot of tools through multiple sites. This experience should have afforded him the knowledge to spot a fake Snap-On ratchet.
2. He was made aware of this thread and never made an attempt to explain his actions. Whether it was a "mistake" or not, he never even attempted to explain it. I would have thought he would have jumped at the chance to clear up any misunderstanding if he valued his membership here at all.
3. He recently purchased Snap-On bare handles like the ones on the ratchets in question on eBay. Coincidence? I think not!
4. He admitted to the scam in a PM to NHBandit .

In my mind the only logical conclusion is that CamaroToolMan was knowingly and willfully engaged in selling counterfeit tools that he created himself for the sole purpose of ripping off people who, unlike us, do not posses the knowledge to spot an impostor out of a crowd. Banning him will not stop his thievery. He'll keep right on scamming people under a different username be it on here, on eBay, or somewhere else. As the old saying goes "a leopard doesn't change his spots" and I believe the same will be true of him. Be that as it may, it is absolutely necessary that the GJ powers that be give him the boot. As much as I shouldn't be surprised, I am. I have bought and sold items on here and in each case it has been a very good experience. I look here before even thinking about going to eBay because I value the environment here in which people know what their tools are worth, and they know what your's are worth. I've made friends here. I wouldn't know them if they walked through my front door, but I consider them friends. When WarmPancakes had the Proto ASD set I had been longing for he sensed I was a little short because of the whole having 4 kids at Christmas time thing when I started offering stuff in trade. Out of the goodness of his heart he dropped the shipping and $25 off the already very reasonable asking price on a set that could have easily passed for new. When a fellow wanted my 1 1/4" Blackhawk ratcheting combo he asked me to hold it until he got paid. I told him to take his time and on that Friday he PayPal'd me the money and an extra $5 for holding it for him. These men have integrity, they are the types of men I see when I think of GJ. Maybe I'm too trusting of people, or maybe I just wanted to believe that this place was something special, but either way, CamaroToolMan does not meet the standard that I felt GJ had. I've never bought from him nor will I ever, and I wasn't in any way involved in this transaction, but I feel betrayed nonetheless. As far as I'm concerned CamaroToolMan is a crook and there's no place for him here. That's my thoughts on it, though I understand that nobody asked for them.

Wow. This is interesting. I do agree that he seems a little... careless/uneducated about the tools he sells, as evident by the threads linked above where he was unaware of the handle issue and unaware of the # of teeth in the ratchet. Because of this, I do think it's possible that he really thought it was legit.

However, he has TERRIBLE business ethics either way. His spelling and grammar is pathetic, to say the least. [Yeah, yeah, mine's not perfect, but I'm also not listing ads for a business] Personally, I would not want to buy from someone who cannot take a minute out of their day and provide an accurate and detailed description of an item. Nor would I want to buy from someone who cannot take clear, detailed pictures of the items. The pictures are extremely blurry and look like they were taken on an old cell phone. Hell, my new cell phone takes MUCH better pics than those. Also, I'd expect him to try to make sure that item #'s and other specific markings are clearly pictured.

All of those shortcomings coupled with the piss-poor attitude in the PM's and a complete lack of a response to this thread make me pretty convinced he was lying and got caught.

Also, if anyone would like to give him a call and ask him why he is such a ****, here ya go:

I hope this isn't true. A lot of trouble to go through to rip off your fellow American's for a mere $40 profit.

I thought the guy you quoted was being sarcastic. It's funny how it can be hard to tell the tone of someone's post sometimes.

Get a life folks. Its a ratchet.
I love how some people feel obligated to police Ebay. Funny Sh!t

Listing his phone number is just lame.

You also cost him money for the listing. There is an ignore button here maybe the Ebay police can show us how top use it?

It's all good. My response wasn't meant in a bad way and was directed towards all those nice guys who still want to give him the benefit of the doubt even after his "confession". One thing that has always amazed me with internet discussion forums is how many folks will read only the first post and then give their opinion at the end even if it's 10 pages long like this one. They totally miss everything that's been posted in between. Nothing wrong with it, just strikes me as odd. I enjoy reading ALL the differing opinions. That's what keeps it interesting. Have a good day.

Maybe you can learn to use the ignore button yourself?

So, what's going to happen here? People will keep posting and start shitting on each other over this? Has the point been made?

The mods will take care of this. But anyone can come back from a ban.

The best thing to protect you as a buyer is to follow the old adage: caveat emptor.
