Shop is looking awesome. Love the floor and the toolbox benches. I am not a fan of Harbor Freight but I too just took advantage of the pricing on the HF44 and picked up 5 of them to build benches out of.
In my last shop I had a lot of things hanging on walls and I want to put many of those items in drawers in this shop. I had a lot of wasted space and these toolboxes seem like a good way to store things like pullers and such.
Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more pictures.
Mike.
Thanks Mike that's quite a compliment, Thank you.I debated on box #2 after having the first one I didn't find the drawers deep enough for what I wanted but said what the heck if I keep changing my plan I'll never get it done. I'm not using it for hand tools but more for other things like tap & die sets special engine build tools and measuring devises
Great job on bench and top. Looks like it would make a great bar, er counter for the FCCFBB&BS event.
Gerard will probably be hitting you up to use the leftover stick to build him a frame for his 44s.
Nice job on the top. I know what you mean about the stupid expensive cost on solid wood tops. You have a class act shop coming together.
The tops came out great and can wait to see them in person. I'm kicking around ideas to do myself. There's a lot of options to choose from.
Nice score on the VW engine mount base. I looked for one for quite a while before I finally just built one. I had it permanently mounted to my workbench in my old shop and also made additional inserts specifically for various items I worked on.
I had a GM, Ford and Dodge automatic trans. mounts that I used a lot as well as motorcycle and snowmobile engine adapters, all so they would slide into the adapter as it made working on things so much nicer to have the option to rotate around.
I haven't quite decided how I am going to mount them in my new shop but I definitely will have to come up with something as I used mine a lot.
Great job, keep the pics coming.

I had been on the look out for a while but just shopping. I knew this person had one for sale some time ago and just happen to ask if he still had it and he did,the bench came out great!!! im looking to do pretty much the same thing. with mine. where did you source the non marring feet for it?
Thanks Mike, I didn't know you have played with old VW's beforeI had been on the look out for a while but just shopping. I knew this person had one for sale some time ago and just happen to ask if he still had it and he did,
This one will only be used for VW engines and Trans. . did you use a stand for your banshee's? the 2 times we have done my sons was on a bench just like I use to do when I was 14 but I did it on top of my moms washer and dryer lol
I talked her into a crew cab truck. It's a 2016 with only 13k on it not a loaded truck but it has enough to make her happy. Plus it will make a nice tow vessel for the race car

Not a 2dr Tahoe by chance?
Nice new ride and I'm glad she thought about it being a tow vehicle.
The uppers look great in your garage. The 44's would look good a dark grey. I just happen to know someone that knows somebody that paints.

So I hear and I even have the color in a spray bomb
Thanks Mike if you look at these stay with the pro series , I was drawn to the cheaper ones but my friend said its not worth the savings
Thanks on the truck it really is her's I have to ask to use it
There was 2 things that surprised me about this truck #1 weighing in at 7500 lbs and here in Florida that makes it like a commercial tag. I had to have a talk with my insurance agent and we made it better.
And 2 for as big as it is it moves well. Not real fond of the fly by wire throttle peddle but well that's what you get these days
Main thing is wife is happy
Thanks for the information JC. Just out of curiosity, can you give me the actual dimensions of the cabinets? Height, length and depth of each section?
Thank you.
Mike.
NewAge cabinets are modular. So the width of both the base and wall cabinets are 28". The wall cabinets are 22" high and 14" deep. The base cabinets are 22"deep and worktops are 24" deep. The tall locker cabinets are 24" deep by 36" wide and 80" tall.
Here's a link.
now I just need to decide where to put it.
I planed to put it on the east wall by the drill press so I can store drill bits and the machining vice. I think I'm going to swap stuff around move the DP next to the bead blaster and the parts washer closer to the door. I'm open to suggestions

Great picture of the bench with the lights.
For location of equipment I suggest the blast cab on back if it's deeper than 24".
For parts washer, I like it right next to a door so you can bring things in or out without dripping stuff all over floor.
p.s. I'll have Gerard look at things and give you the final layout (for June). LOL.
