These are No. 728 hose clamp pliers, similar to the No. 729 pair that Don shared in a group photo back in post number 6. His are fancier, with an adjustable stop to hold them closed.

Spotted but not purchased: No501 valve bushing removal tool for Model A Fords, circa 1928-1933.
Patent # 1902711.

I don’t see this detail in the patent drawing, but the cap or grip has slots, allowing it to slide over the rivet.
I was lucky enough to find a K-D 501 in excellent condition with the box it came in, although the box is pretty beaten up.

My favorite from this collection is a K-D 920 frozen value guide removal kit with the K-D 917 and 918 tools, with original box and manuals. Although not part of the 920 kit, the K-D 923 adaptor for 6-cylinder Ford engines was purchased separately and shown here:

That's a good one, Don. I have a variety of them in my toolbox since the first time I dropped a nut down an intake manifold. I have one like yours above and it's often the first one that I grab from the toolbox. Nice!!

This "Tiny Tools worthy" K&D tool is, I believe, a watch-hand puller, and a seemingly unusual find in an old steel mill. Turns out, it was used to repair mechanical gauges when gauge-needle removal was needed. It was found in an old cabinet drawer with old gauges in various states of repair. I also had no idea that Harry Kulp was born practically in my back yard (thanks for the history, Woody). KDpuller.jpeg

...so that I can post this early Christmas present from California! (Thanks, Don!) :bounce:

I was elated to add this early ratcheting reversible 6-point box end set in original leatherette roll-up to my K-D collection this week. I haven't been able to track down the patent to which that "PAT. APPL'D FOR" refers. That would help date it. But I am pretty sure it's early. I know it's before 1946, because K-D always consistently used a Registered Trademark symbol (R) next to their "K-D" after that. Estimating 1930's.

I admire the way they spelled out the COO in full.
I have that set somewhere.............

That's nifty. Please post photos of the markings, or, if it's easier, a verbatim transcription.
It was not easy! Used a magnifying glass with my 2.0 readers.

These pliers were bought new and brought back to the UK by my uncle as a gift for my father. I inherited them in 2004. They have been extensively used by both my father and I.

When I was a young lad, I can remember there also being a broken pair of the No.7 'Parrot Nose' slip joint pliers in a tool box. I would now very much like to find a pair but the chance of me doing so in the UK is pretty slim.

In addition to being kind, your uncle had great taste! :)

Do you know what year? It's very likely he bought the whole set, which came with four (4) pliers. In addition to the No. 6 (Standard) and No. 9 (Flat Nose) that you are showing, and the No. 6 (Parrot Nose) that you alluded to, the set also included a No. 8 (Needle Nose). They sold them in a metal case and a leatherette pouch in the 40's and 50's.

The chances might be a little better than slim. But not great, I agree.

I was fortunate enough to find a complete set in a leatherette pouch (see post #56 on page 2) at a flea market and I consider them to be one of my prized possessions.

Shortly thereafter, @Oldtuleguy snagged a set in the metal case off ePay (see post #59 on page 2).

I will certainly keep any eye out for you.

My brother and I have been trying to work out when our uncle visited The States but we are not totally clear on it. He was serving on H.M.S. Bermuda (a cruiser) in May 1943 when it escorted R.M.S Queen Mary carrying Winston Churchill to Canada for his conference with Roosevelt in Washington. Our uncle may have been able to get ashore and across the border for a brief visit. We can't find any other evidence of him visiting The States.

I don't think that my father ever had the complete set or the box or pouch as they would have still been around when I was a lad and I would have remembered them.

Thank you for your kind offer to look for a pair of No.6s for me, much appreciated.

I found a K-D wiper arm removal tool at a sale yesterday. I decided it should replace my earlier one in the miscellaneous drawer. While I was at it I decided to take an updated K-D tool group photo. I’m sure that I missed a few. IMG_3104.jpegIMG_3134.jpeg

Due to the (R)egistered TM symbol to the left of the branding, I figured this unusual double offset DOE wrench was much later (cannot be earlier than 1946) than I like to collect, but I didn't expect it to be this late. Found it in the 1969 catalog.

Last week I brought home this No. 283 brake bleeding wrench and searched this thread to see if one had been posted yet. It didn't come up with a search, but one did show up in a group-photo shot early on in this thread.

IMG_2148.jpeg

Yesterday, I found the No. 282 offset drum brake adjuster. I've got quite a few adjusters now, but this is the first K-D and the first offset example.

IMG_2149.jpeg

I thought it was kind of cool to see these two tools side by side in this catalog clip that came up during an image search. Although, the one in that image is not offset (and the angles are steeper than any of the others I own).

Nope. Two different stores about a week apart. I'm thinking it might be time to start a K-D box. So far, they've been tucked away based on function, as opposed to maker. Either works fine around here, as long as I can find them when I need'em.

Here is a K-D tool I found at an estate sale on Friday. It is missing the 1/8” hex extension for adjusting the dwell on GM vehicles with points. I made a substitute from an Allen wrench.
As found. IMG_4853.jpeg

One of a handful of almost purely defense contract oriented hand tools mfgrs that sprung up in the postwar Military-Industrial Complex of the 50's and 60's. Akin to Camron and the like. They were located in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

I found a couple of snap ring pliers at a Tahoe yard sale yesterday. I’ll need to find a replacement for the missing tip on the larger pair. FullSizeRender.jpeg

Found this 4088 ignition set while I was cleaning out some things at my parents' house. It looks unused. Packaging appears to be different in this 1974 catalog on ITCL but the contents are the same.

I haven't found any interesting vintage K-D in quite a while, so I was happy to change that luck yesterday. As first reported on the 13th annual Garage Sale thread here, and discussed further in CC#11 on the Lugzsonian thread here, I found a rusty box full of several rusty knockout type wheel removers in a lot of old garage stuff at the flea.

One of them was this K-D Bingo (having K of C hall flashbacks..., "I, Twoty-Two") 3/4" x 16 example in its original cardboard box.

I will note and emphasize that this was the only wheel knocker in its box and the one in the best condition. Someone had excellent taste in tools!
