Thanks for the response. Orbital welders are crazy expensive! Last revision of this machine was running a tig with 0.020” tungsten. Still would make the haz too hot. We are putting some very nasty **** in these capsules and really trying to keep the dirty bomb option off the table. With the laser you can touch the weld immediately after it’s done and it’s bearly warm.Sorry a little late now but fusion orbital welding of small diameter (1/4") tubing is very common for high purity gas connections in the semiconductor industry. It's a tiny little TIG head that spins inside a split "jaw". The most common vendor in the field was Arc Machines, but Swagelock makes systems as well.
