We just had another appointment this morning with a veterinary specialist for our spaniel/shepherd mix (brown and white dog). We've seen two specialists so far to get a couple of opinions. All signs seem to point to IMPA, or Rheumatoid arthritis for dogs. The next step is to have her sedated and then draw some fluid from her joints to verify.

VERY cool he/she has two different color eyes. Does it really hang out with you in the garage?
Some of them do. In the day, Kitty-Kitty used to hang out with me in the shop. He'd walk over and lay down next to my head while I was working under the car. Sometimes he'd wash my ears. If I'd get up, he'd mrow and wait. I'd come back and he'd curl up again. I'd stay out, and he'd scootch up next to me and watch. He was a very dog-like cat.

Cute. Is this “Kitty-kitty” still with you?

I’m fascinated by the dogs & cats that get along really well with each other. I am because there are others that will literally kill each other. I don’t know why that happens or what can be done to make the two species into friends.

Nope. Kitty-Kitty passed away at 19, well the 19 years after he adopted us, about 20 years ago. He was a grand cat, and dog. His favorite daytime hobby was hunting birds. He'd jump off the roof, and nail them in midair as they flew under him. He'd line up the corpses along the top edge of Grandma's porch step. Lovely boy. He and Rudy, a fox terrier, spent many days curled up on the couch together, enjoying the sunbeams and grooming each other. Soon as I'd come home, they'd thunder to the door for their pets n praise. Both just sitting pretty right there.

It's early socialization. Teach em to get along as babies, and things will be grand. Don't bother, and you'll find them terrorizing each other at every chance.

Many many years ago I brought home a kitten maybe a week after I had brought a puppy home. The kitten was maybe 8-10 weeks old but it immediately hunched its back and hissed at the puppy. They eventually tolerated each other and I had them together for maybe 10 years but didn't truly become friends like had hoped.

I guess I have a garage dog now too, or at least a carport dog - meet Blue:

In that second picture I had borrowed her blanket to prop my head up while I was looking at something but as soon as I turned my back she reclaimed it.

We first met in my carport a year ago in February; I stepped out to run an errand and something growled at me from under a car...

I used a can of tuna to coax her out from under my 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider that I am too going to get running again some day, just you wait and see

We had had a stretch of miserable cold rainy weather and I felt really sorry for her; I posted 'dog found' notices on line and had her scanned for a chip, but no dice. The vet said all of the local shelters were slam full and "yes kill" so I couldn't bring myself to drop her off. I'm 99.9% certain that she was abandoned because she she would go totally nuts at first if I was out of her sight -- as in "I had to take a shower with the shower door open" nuts.

But she's a lot better now. Her name is Blue because she has one eye that's blue and one eye that's half blue and half brown. I probably should have called her Blue-and-a-Half haha:

Got in the hot tub after disassembling, washing, drying all the patio furniture this morning. Now it looks EXACTLY THE SAME except cleaner. Not more dust or spider webs. Needed to soak out the sore back.

Fifi HAS TO be right next to me even though she doesn't care for water much. She'll let me pet her with wet hands. On rare occasions she will even lay down on the wall separating the spa from the pool. water is about 1" deep but sometimes she'll do it.

On the other hand, Max finds a shady soft spot and makes himself comfortable. He's not taking any chances near the pool. He fell in once and it cured him of going close.

You probably just plopped him on the floor and figured good enough. There's a whole comforting and calming process during introductions. And it must be repeated with nauseating frequency. It works well. Of course, if you have a slightly older cat, who decides of his own free will to move into a house with two dogs, well that's just a whole different thing.

My Ex's dogs & my cat were best friends ,the dogs were hunters by nature so it was sort of amazing. cat would sleep tucked right in to them. they would chase each other around inside & outside.
The best one I was , I was working in a an apartment unit, the lady had a cat & a bird... they were best friends. yeah, the names were Oscar & Felix.

Harley was about 8yo when Dixie showed up. Vet said "over a year less than two", she immediately took up with Harley and stuck with him anytime he was at the shop. Harley is 10 now and Dixie 3 they are "besties".

Otto is 18 lbs. He knows the difference between fruit and tennis balls. If I try to throw an apple, he'll just stand right there looking at me, doing the red ball dance. Apple is a bad word to Otto. If I make like I'm going to eat the tennis ball, he'll do the tennis ball dance, yes they're different, and look at Mom like she's lost her freekin mind.
slowly moving into the new house and you can see who brought her important stuff

Ol Cooper has had high enzymes in his liver so we went for an ultrasound. All his organs looked good, but the liver color was a bit dark indicating an infection.. going to try some antibiotics. A slight sedative, and 30 minutes later he was telling me he was ready to get the heck out of there! LolIMG_0854.jpeg

Thank you! And good luck to you and Zuzu! Did you get any results yet?
We had the ultrasound done today, everything looked normal. Sent lab samples out for various tests (including Lepto) and started her on antibiotics & liver supplement (Denamarin) We weren't expecting to see her liver enzymes high, so it's a bit shocking for us as she is just 4 years old.
