Well I finally get to post in this thread. Meet Max. my 2yo. German Shephard rescue. Still a little shy but starting to come out of his shell. Previous owner burned him across his back (hair grew back in white stripes). There is a special place in hell for some people...

Pardon my language but if Max's first owner did that on purpose I would like to beat that sick ******* down and physically cripple and maim him for the rest of his horrible life.

I'm glad you found Max. He definitely deserves a great life after that rotten start. I don't understand what the hell is wrong with people but I just wish we could round up any type of abuser and make them stop breathing.

This is my boy Charlie, he was a huge boy. Awesome pedigree National show winner both here in Canada and the U.S. unfortunately passed away two years ago due to cancer.

Chuck.jpg

We rescued a black doberman.. the previous owners had a a newborn and used that as an excuse to beat and not feed him for whatever reason. When we got him he was so scared of someone raising their voice that he would literally pee on the floor.

Hes doing great now.. we have 115 acres and he spends all day outside running chasing things and in the shop. People who can do that stuff to helpless animals I don't care, cat, dog, rabbit, horse whatever should be hurt.

Very, very sorry to hear that. But EXCELLENT that you took that sadness and rescued a mistreated animal.

Can you post a picture? After cowards that hurt animals are found, tried and imprisoned (I wish!) a condition of their relase ought to be that they are NEVER again allowed to own ANY kind of animal. Animals are totally innocent and the humans that hurt or mistreat them do not deserve a 2nd chance in my opinion.

First post. Thought I'd put something up about the dogs.

Wife and I got a golden when we were engaged had her for just over a year. Unfortunately ran into the road at the wrong time we lost her. The wife was 4 months pregnant at that point and those two were really bonding. Lilly would be really protective of the wifes stomach. If I was lyin on the couch with my wife and if I put my hand or my head on my wifes lap Lilly would come over and nudge her head in there. My oldest was devistated with the whole situation. Best picture I have of her is with her head poking out on the stairs.

After awhile we got another golden named Hannah (Kid wanted to name her Hannah Montana) and she has been a great dog. Takes all kinds of a abuse from the girls and just lays there and puts up with it.

We got a call from a friend who watched someone dump a dog on the highway and take off. They took the dog in and were trying to find a permanent home for her. Give you one guess where she ended up. Meet Gracie. Vet figured she was around 7 months old when we got it. She puts up with same abuse Hannah does and just loves our youngest. If she in her walker in the kitchen she will put her toy on the tray and when the little one grabs ahold she will pull her around the kitchen. (Not shown in the picture but you get the idea) Great dog who is extremely loyal, I still can't figure out why anyone would want to get rid of her.

Heres Shelby the rescue.. when we first got him as mentioned GROSSLY underweight. We've owned several dobermans and he should have been atleast 10-15lbs heavier. You could literally count each of his vertabrea and ribs.

IMG00205.jpg

Here he is a few months later enjoying our Canadian winter with his coat on.. he was still a little thin there but much better shape. He is such a loving dog, loves being around people, protective when he needs to be. I don't understand why anyone would have let those things happen to him. He used to walk with his head down and around people now he has his head up and very proud.

My daughter had a rug in her room that she didn't like. I got tired of her continually complaining about it so naturally... The dog doesn't seem to mind the color. :lol_hitti
Everybody is happier now.

Is there such a thing as too many garage dogs?

L to R in the back row - Mac, Nina, Bob, and Oakley. Front row - Amy.
DOGS-L.jpg

Bob the golden retriever and Amy the black lab live here, the yellow labs belong to various neighbors and just hang out.

You will notice that any scratches that he gets will grow back white as well. I have a black shepherd and every time she loses some hair (usually when the two of them are playing rough) it will grow back white. Over time the white will fall out and come back in black but it takes a while.

Good for you on the rescue.

Here is my little girl, this photo fits her personality perfectly:

Cool social club for dogs you have going there Rich. They must love getting to hang out with their buds. I wish I lived in an area where dogs could roam the neighborhood and stop in to visit. It was like that when I was a kid many decades ago and I've always missed that as suburban neighbors have become more isolated over time.

Very true. But its to bad that most folks seem to have little yappy "I am a big dog" dogs that like to charge anything larger then they are. Hell we even have a cat around that will not hesitate to attack to full grown GSD's.

I would love to be able to allow my pups to roam around the yard without issue.

My buddy Maxx, rescued him from a shelter that found him wandering the streets on the eastside of Chicago. He was used the shelter thinks as a bait dog. When I got him he was 50lbs and had a very bad case of pneumonia.,that was back in 2005. He's now 75lbs and very healthy and afraid on my 8lb Doxy, lol.

A lot of the neighbor dogs roam between 4 or 5 houses. We live on a lake, so they travel up and down the shoreline. We keep a close eye on our dogs...they're pretty much restricted to our or the next door neighbor's yard. The ones that do travel far and wide are so cute and friendly that they get fed a lot and tend to run on the portly side. You should see Henry the beagle who lives 3 houses away...he's almost round.

Bob and Oakley are BFF's.

My dogs - Buddy and Sammi. Sam is gone now, but she was a tough dog. Buddy is a sleepy American Foxhound without a care in the world.

It's been a while, we've had a couple new additions, in case you didn't catch it, we like Schnauzer's, we're collecting the whole set:

Back-right: Cappy, our rescue male.
Back-left: Zoe, our spoiled-rotten-since-birth-puppy.
Front-and-center: Maggie, our foster dog who TRIES to rule the roost despite the fact that she's 1/3 the size of the other two. She's up for adoption if anybody is looking for an awesome dog, PM me!

Here are our two Boxers. Karma (white/brindle) was adopted from a family friend two years ago and just turned 3 in July. Kingston, was rescued last summer from GOBoxer rescue in Dayton, OH. We guess him to be around 5-6 years old.

They became the best of friends instantly, and are constantly by my or my wife's side. As you can see, they also love car rides and keeping me company in the garage.

I want a dog so bad. My child hood dog died the day before I left for Iraq. Luckily I got to say goodbye to her. She was a black lab, she lost almost 30lbs the last 2 months she was alive. I didnt get to see her much after I joined the army. My dad took care of her for me as I can not have dogs in the barracks. I cant wait till i own my own place and will be able to get another dog. Will either be another lab or a shiba inu.

Gotta update my garage dog picture to garage dogs. My girlfriend moved in this spring. Greatest woman in the world and the only baggage she has is the friendliest, most mellow black lab I have ever seen. He'll lay on the floor of the garage and just get covered in sawdust when I'm working out there. I think he knows after the sawdust comes the hair brush which he really likes.

The Chesapeake is my dog.....7 1/2 years old and hasn't settled down a bit. A personality like none I've ever seen.

Here are my pals. The weiner dog is Thelma. She goes down to the neighbors', in through their cat door and spends the day with the old folks.

The shepard mix mutt is Axel. He's my constant companion.

Both of them are rescue dogs. Thelma is about 3 and Axel is about 4. I can't imagine life without dogs.
