Thanks Moose, I might just try that myself. I'd forgotten about that luvvly exchange rate :) and I have enough friends in the US to do your trick with your friend from Georgia. :)

It works out pretty well. You just gotta be careful with the customs form so you don't get screwed on duty. Gifts under £36 in value are not subject to import duty, but customs can decide how much the item is worth if in doubt. I like to have the customs form marked as a gift, with the package valued for $60, and the contents as "Used Tools", i also get them insured and signed-for, that way nothing goes missing.

This works for me, but your mileage may vary.

aaaaaaaaand another..

Snap-on 1/2" flex-head ratchet. This is going to get a 24" breaker bar handle w/ yellow hard handle (i'm going to replace that with a new orange handle) and i'll have a long flex-head 1/2" ratchet with orange hard handle for the collection. And i can use the breaker bar head and have an 18" breaker bar too. Lovely. :)

Just so y'all know, the recent drama hasn't slowed any progress over here..

Snap-on 1/4" Speed Brace. Bought a 1/2" and 3/8" so now i have the full set.

93c2_1.jpg

Lot of Snap-on extensions, two adapters and a ratchet. I've wanted locking and flexible extensions for a while, and now i've got them! May keep the ratchet, may give it to a friend who wants one.

2942_1.jpg

Snap-on SF730A, compact 1/2". Basically just a 1/2" drive in a 3/8" body, already have one, want to use the guts to make a stubby. Might keep it as-is and have two. somehow, i just can't turn some stuff down!

08bd_1.jpg

And last, but definietely not least, Snap-on 10-32mm 1/2" deep socket set. Also wanted one of these for a long time, but could never afford it. This set came from the same guy who i bought my long 1/2" orange handle and 18" flex head ratchets from. It was a Buy It Now, so i took it there and then!

According to My eBay, i've spent $3,404 in the last 60 days..

Thank you. :)

I put in 5 bids, but none met the reserve, and i went up to $300. In the end, i thought screw it, $75 isn't much difference in this price so i bought them straight up. The seller is a great guy to deal with, so no regrets at all.

I usually don't scour e-bay for deals, but just through dumb luck I came upon these two items from the same seller when I was looking for some larger metric wrenches

GAST -- continuous duty air compressor/vacuum pump, which I'll setup as an AC vacuum pump. They are rated for continuous duty and will pull 25-30 inches of mercury -- $10.00

EASCO 21 pc. Metric Wrench set 9-32mm (beautiful -- I really like this set) -- $26.00

Wow, awesome deal on those Easco wrenches. I have that exact set that I bought at a pawn shop. They were all NOS except that it was missing the smallest wrench. I believe I paid like $40, which I thought was a pretty good deal at the time. I bought it for the larger sizes as well.

Awesome score on the wrenches!

This is possibly the last eBay buy for me for a while, saving for a vacation.

Snap-on 3" locking extension to complete the set i got in another auction. Many thanks to Billy for the heads-up on this one. :)

Moose -- if you don't mind a dumb question --- what kind of extension is that? I've never seen one like that before - any special uses?

It's a locking extension. You pull the collar back to put on/remove the socket, this is good for things like spark plugs in deep wells as it won't allow the socket to get stuck on plug. Also handy for environments where you can't/mustn't lose sockets.

I like the Easco wrenches. I got a NOS std. set (3/8"- 1/14") for like $40 or so on ebay a few months ago for home. I'd like to find that metric set you got. Good deal.
