Looks good and much more space in that I bet.

Thank you...... yea I was slightly concerned about the loss of the bottom bulk but just really find myself missing a spot for spray cans.

One thing I love now is I have a cart that actually rolls. The matco cart rolled like it had square wheels I always dreaded moving it.

I'm a sucker for blue when I saw it on the truck I couldn't resist hah.

Nice box, I'm in the same boat, bought a KRL1003 14 years ago, last box I'll ever buy. My box is full but I hope to retire in a few years. It did piss off my Snap On dealer when I told him only new box I would buy would by a cart type box. If I get one of those I'd get a 100th anniversary one to go with my gold 50th anniversary I have at home.

Been a road service tech for a while now. Big clunky boxes had to go.

Picked up the Tanos box with drawers, and a 2U box, finally got around to getting the Festool cart and a parts tray holder.

Let's see how the cart goes, it's only been a week.

Re: Let's see your toolbox. Anyone know who made this box?

Hi, garage folks, I am way far behind on the vise page ( but have serious vice for vises!) If you know tool boxes like the vise guys know vises than someone will make this look easy. It has been anything but for me.Today I have a question that I only know how to ask, probably. I am looking for a box like this one. I believe it is from the 40,maybe 50's. might be made by blackhawk box? IDK any help that can point me on to one like this would be greatly appreciation. It does not have to be labeled as a Briggs box,,just the right box and drawers arrangement. I can also be reached at [email protected]

Done thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! moved

Mark two other threads that are more likely to get you an answer are the vintage tool box and the "Metal Cabinets vintage or homemade..." threads:

How do you find or compare your classic 96 to the krl?

I have a classic 96 now and I'm overall pretty happy never really thought of trading in future but was curios to hear from someone who went from kra to krl

Long story short, the entire product (the KRL) just feels better. The higher build quality of the Masters gives you a more premium feel all around. Better quality and stylish ISOride casters give you a smoother ride without sacrificing looks. The real winner for me though are the drawer slides. Hands down, smoother opening and closing of the drawers over the KRA. They are also beefier for higher weight loads. I also appreciate the deeper drawers for added storage space. No question about it, higher quality product. I have no regrets whatsoever. If a good trade opportunity presents itself to you, take the plunge. You won't regret it either.

Well after some crazy months gone by I can finally put the new box up. I had posted in (show us your epics) when the box came in but that had to be quick. After 30 plus years of wrenching and working for others I finally pulled the plug and opened my own shop. It has been a crazy time but now all is moved in, settled and ready. We opened for business this past Monday and the first week has been good so far. Ready for the future. I ordered this Epic in August off the rock and roll truck. Traded the Taj Mahal for it and couldn't be more satisfied. Everything is in now and set. As promised to the forum here are all the shots. Thanks to the forum. Great group of folks on here.e75452aa05d8568513494000d9288340.jpgbb11c1f153309e2624a7c410fe914c4e.jpge36ac1545cfc94b07a1bc81a5a7a9c59.jpg2deed21ebc3d25369e0f4676a5a5014a.jpg5ac62a5eb08c3a15d2648cc5131f1298.jpg54b0d8625b8d5c88aed63d917a0c191b.jpg52b49fa1e09a3edd0ffec56c65d97f66.jpg145cfadb88c12ac5d4be1ca1eb9ae59d.jpg2efae7eb6d65d46b44e2d7a03232f898.jpg4e6241a9c5b4a9c516858bdb4fe22dc8.jpg7a0aff73c1b17b2bf2e6b24c0d47fefe.jpgdc0de45e96d19d1d7be349a1b0ec2197.jpg4fc01cb76cfc98b2bbdf9f7eb7d14a70.jpg8b56dbf958a79af184d7973718c872a9.jpg191b4f916cca9fb382bf3df0becfa4ed.jpg57ec915e7b34278e718780369b673ee9.jpge80253857df9aedc6bc39d7307e719ab.jpg7b36568fd886ae554afd63f8e1595e06.jpg959b30d922954caec160890aa537f626.jpg4f914c1b07b257ef87574e1f5a7bbb2c.jpg

Scooter is there any chance you have a part number for the spindle nut socket set next to the ball joint press?
The red tray next to the ball joint press is actually an add on set of adaptors for the ball joint press. I have a set of hub sockets in 12 point and a set in six point in another photo. But the red tray is part of the ball joint set up. Sorry

Scooter....love it. I have a 68 with locker myself. Get that tube of grease out before it melts everywhere, hang the grease gun and your fancy oil filter wrench rack on your oil drain.

Hey just wanted to thank you for your detailed response, it's great to be here on this forum where so many people are willing to offer their advice support and wisdom. I can't agree with you more that the shallow drawers of the KRA are a major drawback. Countless times I have found myself locked out of a drawer because I over stacked one and now the contents are getting jammed on the way back out. Congratulations on your new box and best of luck.

Traded my KRSC40 and KRL722 in on this MB1953 last month, couldn't be happier to have everything in one box for once, and actually have space left over. Snap-On dealer was a little bent out of shape but the best he could do for me would've been way more money and a smaller box.

Finally got some time to post up my box, still working towards getting more tools... I also need to focus on finding a proper solution to the organization

That looks just like my first box. It was a great deal on a repo.
I can't recall the exact drawer configuration, but it was that exact color combination. I added a hutch and a side shelf.

Thanks K Dog! I have been looking for a side cab and half locker used in any color with no luck so far. I may upgrade within a few years but I'm only a serious home wrench. I scored this box from my first boss for a song, it was from a transmission shop and came with quite a few tool truck brand tools.

Thank you! I'll probably have it bursting at the seems within the next few years

Nice setup, but you have TONS of room still available.

I know you probably like the wrench racks and those plastic socket holders, but they do take up space the way they hold the tools.

I'm working with what I have right now since better organizers cost $$$. I know I have some more room but I don't think I'll have much, if any left once I get some more of the tools I've been wanting/needing. The top drawer is my biggest issue. It is stacked 3 layers deep in the front half and I also have a huge 3/4 socket set that isn't pictured.

I just use the wire method. coil up 10 awg insulated wire, and slot the wrenches in between. I haven't found a better or cheaper solution yet and the space savings is 5 fold.

Do you have something you coil it around? Never would have thought of something like that but it looks pretty efficient. How does it hold up to larger/longer wrenches?

I use a broomstick or a long extension to coil it around. Wrenches in the wire are 20-28mm and 7/8-1-1/8" and the 12 gauge I used holds them well. Only reason I didn't use it for anything larger is the drawer is to shallow.

My other wrench drawer, even holds the chunky craftsman flares well.

How old is that box? It looks like it is in great condition. I have an 8525 in the same color combo, that I purchased back in 1996. Just last spring I was having issues with some of the drawer slides so I called Matco. They asked if I had a dealer and then checked my area and confirmed that there was no dealer coverage where I am located. Then asked how many slides I needed, I told the rep that I needed six slides. The rep then asks if all the others are original. I told him yes they were. The rep then asked how many I would need to replace all of the slides in the box, as they are probably not much better. So Matco sent me a whole new set of slides for my twenty year old box. All I was asked to provide were the model and S/N of my box. Not that is what I call Customer service! They only way it would have been better is if a dealer did the work of replacing them for me. But I did get to take my time and clean the box with all the drawers out. I did find $20 and a 25h time ticket from 18 years ago, had not seen a daily time ticket like that in a while:sad:

Mine is a 98 model, I put a fresh coat of wax on it before the picture. I would love to get some spring loaded castors for it, other than that it is in great shape for its age

Here's a picture of my bigger wrenches in coiled wire. I apologize for the mess in the drawer.205af7bc8feccd504591835175026fd6.jpg18-50mm
