I got the cancellation email about the cutters so I'm still getting the duck bill pliers. But, the email shows they are still charging me for all of them. Do your emails show the cancelled pliers coming off the bill?

Oops sorry didn't see all the posts on the other page. I see the charge on my card, assuming The Stanley works is MAC tools. Strange though, it's the amount before tax...

Edit: same as Amish said in prev post. Weird how Stanley is handling this.

It's called a pending charge. The money is set aside, and when it goes through, it will charge the actual amount.

what annoys me about this whole fiasco is i ordered all these $5 pliers initially on the 12th... people who have ordered much more recently have had pliers that were cancelled on that order (and other orders that followed) shipped out to them

That sounds like quite the waste of energy and time.

They are closeouts. For the random cancellations on certain items, my WAG is they ping these orders off of different warehouses, and whoever is filling "most" of the order is boxing them up and sending them out.

We can compare shipping info when they come in, or maybe the more productive method to go about it would be for folks that got extras of one tool to trade with someone that got extras of the other tool.

not really... i'll be sitting on my *** holding a phone so no real energy wasted, and i'll just use a bit of time i would otherwise use picking my nose... i only really intend to tell them what happened, that i wasn't exactly happy with the way it was handled, and let them give the standard canned "we're sorry"... not going to demand they make some pliers materialize from thin air or anything...

my only hope is they listen and try a bit harder to not let this kind of thing happen in the future

These duckbills are garbage, everything I picked up is made in China, and of poor quality. This is no better than Harbor Freight stuff. Really disappointing.

Wow, looks like you got a dud! Maybe you can call them and get a replacement?

Mine don't look nearly that bad. The jaws match up perfectly near the tip.

my duckbills also match up perfectly towards the tip... i was pleased with what i got for $5... now the $25.99 original price was ridiculous... and the (i think) $12 they were before the drop to $5 would have been a stretch IMO

$25 is just about what USA-made Klein D360-11 pliers cost. These Mac pliers would have been a decent deal at $9.99, at $4.99 they're pretty much a no-brainer assuming you get one that's not defective.

The P series stuff is well know to be the bag of pliers china stuff , about the only people who like them are the ebay resellers who sell them on the mac name alone. The have been low quality since they came out 10 years ago. The rust up pretty bad too. Not great tools but they work.

My two spark plug removal tool sets arrived just now. They are made in Taiwan (big sticker on the case) but look great. The locking feature will make extracting plugs from DOHC engines much easier. And for twenty bucks? A heck of a deal.

I may be wrong about this. I remember hearing about a change in laws to make it so COO was no longer a requirement. Again I may be wrong.

I just got my 12" tongue in groove and 11" duckbills in. They don't look as nice as my Snap on but more comparable to Gearwrench. Not disappointed at all on those. A little disappointed that the wheel cutter has some name on it I'm not familiar with.

Ah, I haven't gotten any of what I ordered yet but I'm aiming pretty low on the satisfaction scale so I'm not sweating it. If the jaws are crooked, it takes me all of 30 seconds to re profile them on my belt grinder. I'm not thinking I can lose too badly, here. Closeout purchases are kind of like buying a scratch off ticket. You don't really expect to win big but if you get a little more than you started with you are generally happy. Even crooked pliers have a use in my shop; they're the ones I lend out.

For those curious they are basically Harbor Freight pliers. I'm not saying they are bad (at least mine aren't as bad as others possibly), but they are entirely usable, just not high quality.

I'll beat the **** out of them and then warranty them when they need it.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

I buy stuff from "outlets" a lot and I know that they are most likely factory seconds, over-runs, returns or have slight defects and they are marked accordingly.

Now, closeout to me at least, means that the item will no longer be stocked and they're just getting rid of the stock.
