You can't really compare a gb price, to a sale price at a pay to play oversized walmart.

I wish I had the spare dough to buy one. And even if it were 200$ more I would still buy from GES, you know a company that actually specializes in this stuff.

The thought that 20% off a lift is an insult is just stupid.

I'm not here to start a ******* match. Good luck UPSHIFT, I think this is what bull was talking about in the other threads about members scaring off vendors and dealers.

California Sale

MaxJax $1800.00 (Taxable amount) (Costco Taxable amount $1999.00 if ordered before October 6th.)
7.5% Ventura County Sales Tax on $1800.00 is $135.00 $1935.00 plus freight options purchased.

Optional Charges for the Freight Company (Non Taxable)

I feel the Dock Pick up will work best as you go there at your convenience as when they deliver it to your home someone has to be there to take delivery.

Simply drive to the Freight Dock and they will load the equipment in your or your friends Pick up truck. Think of how the friends that will want to use this lift help you get it delivered.:beer::thumbup:

I appreciate the thought, but I have my own truck and most of my friends don't even know that there are metric and SAE sized bolts out there. It just ***** being in California, like usual, and having to pay the tax on this deal pretty much negates any incentive to participate in the GB here when I have a Costco 8 miles down the road and am physically capable of loading/unloading 300+ lbs of metal on my own. Doesn't mean I won't be jealous when I start hearing about everyone getting their deliveries in though...

i think there is 4 more days until the costco one goes back up to 2249 but wouldnt you be paying tax at costco anyways? tax on $1800 is still cheaper than tax on $1999

I hate it when someone offers me $200 off of something. :)

:lol_hitti

even then i just tried putting it in the shopping cart, at full retail its $2249 + tax for me, which is $2417

so at 7.5% at $1800 you are walking out the door paying $1935

so its actually almost $500 off

even if you are delivering to your house with lift gate it would be $2557 full price or $2075 with group buy. unless my math is off...

You're right it would ultimately be cheaper in the GB (by $175) but it boils down to having the ability to return the unit to Costco at any time should something break/fail or just not end up using it. I am sure returns back to DanMar are going to be a few hundred bucks just to get it back thus negating any original savings and then some.

Apples to Apples comparison
GB Price: $1800 + $135 Tax + $40 Home Delivery/no lift gate = $1975
Costco Price: $2000 + $150 Tax + $0 Home Delivery/no lift gate = $2150

Not saying that I would or have ;) but having the whole "These diapers already got sh!t in them! Well go back there and get you some fresh ones" Costco/walmart mentality on returns to me I think is worth $175 if I were to move somewhere where my company won't ship the lift to (most likely) or I find a garage that could fit a full size lift. Again, only personal opinion and it is still a good deal nonetheless but is one helluva deal if you live outside Cali!

^ ^ ^ Your analysis fits YOU since you live close to a Costco.

There isn't a Costco within HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of miles for many folks on GJ.

Since OP is offering this deal all across USA, there are some folks out in the boonies, that this deal is SCREAMING great deal.

To others in highly populated areas (w/ or w/o a Costco), then YMMV.

Thanks for the nice gb Upshift, unfortunately I'll have to pass.
Have no way to determine if my garage floor can take the stress.

Like others mentioned, I would be all over a four post group buy lift!

Have no way to determine if my garage floor can take the stress.

I've thought about this- since you can't tell if there is a void under the concrete floor where you're drilling, it's a gamble. I think it would be possible to get a couple piece of plate steel around 3/8"-1/2" about 24" square. Drill your holes for the columns through the plate and the concrete. Use the plates like you would washers on a bolt to spread the stress out across a much larger area while still not in the way for the most part. Might even get a bevel ground into the edges.

When you're not using lift, you could store the plates with the lift and leave the floor flat.

You could probably get away with smaller plates, possibly 18x18. Whatever you do, it should work to help even with lighter floors.

QUESTION: Are there covers available for the columns?

While I hope to use this in the garage, I know that I'll more likely use it in the driveway instead. And when this lift isn't in use, due to limited storage, I may have to store the columns outside alongside the house. It's clean and dry, but it's possible to get rain in there so I'd really like to have some sort of cover like a BBQ grill cover that could slip over it to keep it clean and dry. If there are covers already made, this would make the lift that much more valuable to me.

If not, then I will have to figure out a way to fabricate one. I'm sure I could go to an upholstery shop that does boats or car covers and have them sew up something, but that will be pricey. Thoughts? Suggestions?

You could always have your slab "x-ray'd" (ground penetrating radar) if you're concerned.

I' drilled a hole through my concrete check the thickness and it is about 4.5". Is this still OK because the instructions reference drilling a 5.5" deep pilot hole? I've drilled through my slab at 4.5"

4. Hold the drill perpendicular to the concrete surface drill out the “A” pilot hole to a minimum depth of 5-1/2” deep using a rotary hammer drill and 7/8” concrete drill-bit. (See figure 11)

Another solution to a thin layer of concrete would be to saw out a square, use a post hold digger and dig down several feet, drop in a piece of I beam and backfill with concrete. Then you can weld a plate to the top flush with your floor and be absolutely sure it's strong enough. Yes, it's work, but there's always a way. :)

Everybody who is on the fence about buying a MaxJax.....Imagine you're 96 years old on your death bed, do you think you'd say to yourself 'I'm glad I didn't buy that MaxJax I always wanted'

The silly things hold their value with a high resale value- I've been hunting for one as well for a while before this came up. Even if you decide to sell it in a year, you can readily get $1500-1900 for it. Not bad at all!

UPSHIFT:

Question: The pricing has been for the MaxJax itself. But the installation also requires the mounting hardware. I see this is available separately with a couple of options. Does this mean the mounting hardware is not included? The epoxy grip anchor grip kit is another $150. Wei anchor bolts with expanding sleeves are also available for $8.75 each (10 needed per lift installation).

I need to budget for this as well and make sure I order the correct stuff. Advice?

Delivery: The agreement terms listed also state that no lift gate service.

UNLOADING THE FREIGHT TRUCK
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A forklift is recommended to unload all lifts. The trucking company is only responsible for delivery to your door; you are responsible to unload your equipment. Lift-gate service is not available due to weight and dimension restrictions. If your lift cannot be unloaded upon the initial delivery there will be charges for re-delivery at a later date. "

The product page lists liftgate delivery available at $140.

Which is it?

I'm ordering right now. I called yesterday to confirm, and it does come with 10 Wei anchors. Nothing else is needed.

It's actually coming up as $1,820.00

$2,249.00
-$429.00
=$1,820.00

I'm not sweating the $20 however it would be nice if it was the advertised $1,800 even.

Thanks UPSHIFT for setting this up!

I just ordered mine. The shipping to the depot said it was $59 but when I checked out it cost $79. Must be a bug in the system.

Curious about the difference in amounts experienced and those discussed. First the shipping with lift gait, now the price of the lift and shipping to the terminal. Small amounts but still. Miscommunication? Or something else?

Call for a $20 refund, I talked to them and they made a mistake. The coupon should now correctly give the full $449 off.

Sorry, they have their own disclaimer - the MaxJax is one of the only car lifts that can be loaded on a lift gate. Contacting the freight carrier about damage is the first thing you should do though! Then call Dannmar or GES.

Scary times. I just ordered one as well. What was I thinking? As long as I don't think about the money, I'll be okay.

Must breathe slowly. It's just money. Yeah, that's it.

Oh, and they apologized that it might be up to a week to get it delivered. What? Well hey, I was thinking it might be more like a couple of weeks to a month. Getting it next week sometime? Damn, not bad! I'm quite pleased indeed.

And the sales person is very much familiar with this group buy, and has had numerous calls, so you guys are actively taking advantage of this deal. Very good!

And I really want to see photos of these lifts as they arrive at garages, the great unboxing, installation, and first time lifts.

Ordered mine tonight. Can't believe it's finally time. Two months ago felt like we'd have to wait a year. Brings back memories of thinking about Christmas as a kid. Thanks Gabe!

I really enjoy my maxjax.. It's been very beneficial so far... even when just detailing cars...or working on the lawnmower...lol

Sorry for the crappy attached pics.

I also made a modification to mine by drilling two more holes, which from what I understand is fine because many others have done so but for legal reasons you are on your own I'm sure...etc.

The first picture of my car you can see it's super low and it's great for changing tires. The next picture is a hole I drilled in between the two factory holes. By doing so I feel like it's greatly made this easy to use. My only gripe is that I wish I had a large lift that would go higher but honestly at the time I had low garage doors and wasn't planning on doing a high lift track system.. now that I did though it really opens the garage up.

I like this lift and truly think it's great for the home back yard mechanic.

The only trouble I have is lifting my ranger since the rails are so far in on the vehicle... All other vehicles including my dad's grand caravan has had no issues what so ever.

Hope that helps someone.

-Nigel

New Shocker Guy,

Thanks for your feedback, the set up is very Clean.. I like the wall mount set up.. Fords can be tough to get on any 2 post lift as the frame is recessed in the body.. If the 3" adaptors don't do the Job we do have 6" height adaptors to get the clearance you need.

It is nice to see so many pictures of installed lifts in operation..

Thanks as Always,

Head over to an awning manufacturer or a boat cover manufacturer, and give them the dimensions. Allow an extra inch or two to make it easier to get over the top of the columns, and have them install a very long brass zipper the entire length of the tube that they will fabricate. I suggest Sunbrella material, and having the top of the column cover reinforced on the underside. Shouldn't be that expensive to have made up, and the Sunbrella comes in many colors.
I have both the Maxjax (thanks Gabe) and a Bendpak 4 post lift. You can't beat the quality of either, and they have made my life a lot easier, as I have gotten older.
