Just got home from menards, they have their 16" x 72" solid toolbox drawer liners listed at 2/$8, but they ring up at $4 each. Figured I should post it here, I didn't look to see how long the sale lasts

I got a set of those on clearance last year for about $40. Haven't used them extensively yet but they seem to work well, they are much easier to use than my old mil surplus ones.

Just hit up the local Menards this morning. Got the Stanley 16 piece cushion grip screwdriver set for $10. Not bad, better than $20 for screwdrivers that tend to get misplaced in the truck box. They are made in China for those wondering. Not the best, but definitely not the worst out there.

Picked up some $1.99/qt Shell conventional oil and some 50/50 antifreeze for $4.99 after rebate.

I needed some ice melt as well but they were all sold out. :(

This week they have on sale a ladder step you can put on top the rungs of an extension ladder. I'm going to be doing some house painting this spring and think I can use this. I hate how most ladders only have a little one inch rung that makes your feet hurt pretty fast. I'll give this a try. Pricey even half off at about $20, but the 11% off gift card brings that down a bit.

They also now have those nice California style Deluge made in USA by Vaughan hammers on clearance for only $7.99 if you can find one. If you need or want at least one big hammer, this is a real good one. - Paul

48" and 78" levels on clearance. high quality levels made by Stabila.

In my local store, all non magnetic masterforce levels are red tagged clearance, solid prices.

Nice deal on some nice levels! I hope they are replacing them with the newer model Stabilas and not some Chinese substitute, IIRC Stabila has not sold those levels branded Stabila in some time. (Though there's nothing wrong with them!)

What exactly does that spring tool do? It looks like a flat head screwdriver in the pic.

Wilde calls theirs a headlight spring tool. I'm not a mechanic and have never had a need for one though.

I looked online and I guess older mustangs and maybe some camaros have a spring that holds the headlight into the bucket. Even for $1 id never use it. Interesting to find out what its for though.

You can use it to install any spring on anything (drum brakes often require springs to be installed and stretch while they are installed, shifter linkage with external return springs). It attaches to one end of the spring and allows you to stretch it out without damaging it with pliers/vice grips.

Just bought 2 of these. One for my Dewalt miter saw and one for my metal cut chop saw. I paid $34 a piece last week when they were originally $70 and now I see they're $29.99. Not bad for a budget tool stand.
http://www.menards.com/main/tools-h...folding-miter-saw-stand/p-2180574-c-10164.htm

Good deal... Have one for my Protech I bought when they were $19.99 after rebate. Probably pick up one more now for my Rage. I have a T4B with my 12" slider and this is just as sturdy, just not as portable for a heavy saw.

I think they sell a lot more US made products than Sears does anymore!

I like to buy US made whenever I can do so and competitive. There are some of those deals at Menards. They also sell Chinese made products at different quality/design levels as well. - Paul

Tempted to pick up some made in USA Jorgensen bar clamps this week on pretty decent sale. Cheaper than Harry Epstein prices on these.

I also got a 100' length extension cord last week in 12/2 (with ground) format made in USA. My electric is lousy at my house and I've found that tools get killed and die on long runs of less gage extension cordage. It was about $50 for that length, a good deal. Now I can happily use my electric chain saw when I need to, which has pretty high amperage needs. - Paul

You need to tell my Menards that bc the last few times I have gone in there their tools for the most part are chines made. My store only has a small section dedicated to USA made products.
My Local Sears hometown store which is still ridiculously stocked with USA stuff is the store I go to when I need tools now. It is hidden is the best part :rocker:. There is a chisel set I got my eye on, its the older Red Chisel set on top of that :rocker:

The worse part isMenards seems to be more expensive than Home Depot and Lowes for some reason :eye crazy:

I find Menards to consistently be about 10% cheaper than the other guys...and even more once things go on sale!

Maybe I stopped going into Menards, bc they have such a disappointing selection when it comes to screws, bolts, lags ect.....
But what I was thinking of specifically is their price on plywood. I am going to try and insulate my garage this spring/summer (No more freezing my balls offxmas)
and Menards were almost five dollars higher on their plywood. HomeDepot and Lowes was the same price.

Hey DSM, earlier this year Menards had the 11% off sale. When they did, unlike previous years, they let you buy gift cards and get the 11% off on the gift card (you get a rebate later for that 11%). Although I despise rebates in general, the Menards ones have always come through for me and they make it really easy. Just send in part of the receipt it prints out for you and the little rebate card, no upcs or other **** or anything from the item, and you can put them all in one envelope to mail to the same address at the same time. Not too bad. Other companies should be benchmarking Menards for how to do a rebate properly. Using this 11% off rebate card, then whatever you buy later is "on sale". Some here have bought thousands of dollars worth of lumber, project supplies, etc. this way already this year. On top of that, when they had the 14% off bag sale, you could stack by using your gift card on that purchase. Even better! For just a day or two, they had overlapping 11% off and 14% off sales and you could do all three and use your gift card on that too! Something like 33% off in total that way briefly. So Menards is king so far this year on the discounts off retail. Nobody else has been even close to this. Unfortunately, I should have put more on the gift card when I could have as I'm already running low on mine!

I find over the years where I live, Menards is generally lower cost than Lowes or Home Depot on most things as a normal price. L or HD on clearance or super specials can be better, but not normally where I live. Now Lowes changes prices alot based on where you are. So your story may be different. I find Menards the cheapest for lumber here as a normal price and also better quality. So I like to go to Menards first, and others only if I don't find what I want there, which is pretty rare for me. I do also shop at our new Harbor Freight in town (yes, deprived for many years where I live). If I want foreign, their Taiwan Coo tools are not too bad or equivalent Chinese Coo are generally the cheapest price for it (many items can be found at Sears or Menards or Home Depot that are identical to the HF Chinese items, just rebadged and higher prices if you really search the items well).

I am disappointed that Menards Masterforce pliers are now Chinese Coo. Masterforce is their premium line. Their Performax and Tool Shop lines are also mostly Chinese Coo now. But Masterforce screw drivers are all USA and there are many others USA also, like the hammers, I think made by Vaughan. They also sell the Vaughan and Dalluge USA made lines directly. Now that I've used Vaughan, I have little reason to want to use any non-US hammer. They are really good.

You have to check the item on COO. Still, in total, Menards does still sell USA made stuff when it is competitive to do so and I support that. The more of that we all do, the more of that will show up and be available for sale over time. We in this country can change the current job situation here and future for US citizens, but we have to make that change one at a time. No one else can do so. Germany has done that. German citizens buy German in droves. Germany is one of the strongest economies with little unemployment as a result. If people start buying US, then stores will start selling US again and factories will re-open. I hope this can happen for Sears, but the company has to be willing to try to make this work. Menards is trying for sure. Don't know about Sears right now.

I never noticed Menards sells half round gutters (p. 8), I need some gutters for my weekend shack but the standard k-style ones don't look right and I hadn't been able to find the round ones anywhere. Score another point for Menards!

That's very unusual, Menards is almost always cheaper than HD/Lowes.

Menards has a 110% price match policy. If you find something cheaper at Lowes/HD, they'll match it and give you an additional 10%. This comes out of their manager bonuses, so they actively price shop other stores and mark down things to match - these are sometimes what the red price tags mean (though they also mean clearance/nonstock).

I thought about it briefly (very briefly) but my weekend shack is really "rustic" (read: run down) and copper gutters would look out of place. Plus, it's out in the woods and as soon as the local scrappers got word of it they'd strip the thing bare in a heartbeat :lol_hitti.

Even at 33% Menards would be about the same price maybe even higher. Menards 8x4 plywood was almost $15
Home depot and Lowes was priced at $9 or $11 take a third off $15 and it is still the same price, maybe even higher:dunno:
