I'm in the market for a garbage disposal and A frame ladder so I will probably bite on the Insinkerator Evolution and the $49 after rebate 7' ladder.

I just found this thread Lot's of good info. I saw the 72" masterforce box and I thought it was a great box for the money $1500. I had been looking at the HF 72" box $1199. I never pulled the trigger on the HF box because I know I used to see them on sale at times for $999, so I waited. While looking at the Masterforce I thought the quality and drawer lay out wee better for me. As and added bonus you have color choices. Well I found a reason to go there on black Friday and the 72" masterforce was on sale for $999. I had to have it now that it was discounted $500.00. I really like it. I did see the Montezuma 72 in the store. It was a good deal, but as mentioned on here it was light duty. So right next to that display was a Sentinel 64 gun safe $1400 regular price $750 sale price. Yep I got one of those too. Instead of buying the wood or stainless top for my new Masterforce box I used a livestock stall mat that had. It came from tractor supply for about 30.00. It was 4x6 so I cut it down the middle. The other half will go on the floor in front of my metal lathe. I guess my reason for posting was to say watch for that masterforce box to go on sale and compare one to an HF box for yourself. I think they will sell a lot more of them.

You are wise man 12valve to go with the Masterforce ....[emoji6]

Is the masterforce really that much better than the HF 72"? I only ask because I am in the market for one, and my menards does not stock the 72", so I haven't got to "feel it up". I have to play with the HF 72" because my store has it on the floor. I like the full width drawers better on the masterforce, but also like the big deep drawer on the HF. Any insight would be appreciated thanks guys.

Long time listerner, first time caller....

I had this same debate when I started looking for a box. Looked at the HF 44 and the Masterforce 46 to replace an old Craftsman. Ended up going with the Masterforce after studying both of them. Drawers and slides feel beefier on the Masterforce, and the griplatch is a nice feature. Also the like the color options, I went with black.

Due to this dangerous website, ran out of room after one year. Bought the Masterforce 26 to park beside the 46 for some wider drawers. Then just bought the Performax intermediate to put on top of the 26 for a few more drawers.

In the end I wish I would have just went with the Masterforce 72....

Spent a lot of time comparing the various 72" cabinets and ended up with the Masterforce - at $999 (on sale), it simply cannot be beat. It seemed better built to me than the HF cabinet + the drawer latch system is MUCH better. Hate the plastic end clips on the HF drawers - a person always has to release the latch at one end of the drawer....and the boxes at my local HF always seemed to have one or two latches that were broken. The fit and finish of the HF always seemed to be marginal too when looking close. The Masterforce (at least the one that I got and the two displayed at my local stores) were excellent in all regards. Wait for the sale to pull the trigger. Guessing that Menards is close to running another soon since it has been a couple of months since the last one.

The griplatch system on the masterforce is superior to the detent system on the harbor freight. If you want to get an idea of what the 72" is like, look at the other masterforce cabinets such as the 56", they're very similar.

What about overall usable drawer depth on the masterforce? TBH I don't even remember seeing a 56" on display at my menards, only the smaller ones. And even those aren't any deeper than my old HF 44". I guess what I'm trying to say is, I want something that has the drawer depth in looking for, and again, my only real reference is the HF 72 because my menards doesn't carry the 72, order only. Thanks
And I do really like the latch system and the full length drawers on the MF.

On the website it lists the 72" at 24" deep. I believe this is the same as the HF. Unless you're talking about vertical depth of the drawers...

(2) 46 inch Masterforce

1 of (2)72" Masterforce

You can not find a better box for $1000.... The 72" is a beast.

I just wish I had ordered black....as my garage progresses. Not an option with the HF

Oh no worries 77, when I set this thread up originally, I wanted it to include discussions on the products, pros, cons, reviews, etc. Anything and everything anyone wants to talk about related to Menards products. So this is all good. People are free to always start up new threads elsewhere if they want too, but here is fine also. I like the new people joining in - great stuff. - Paul

To those trying to decide between Masterforce and HF box, according to their manuals.

Drawer depth:
Masterforce:
72 - 21"
56 - 17"
46 - 15.75"

HF:
72 - 19.5"
56 - 19.5"
44 - 16"

The only drawer that loses a bit of room is the top drawer the big one. All the other drawers are flush. You loose maybe 1 1/2-2 inches. Best purchase to date. Also the lifetime warranty is nice. 2762fb6550ae2a463f94aeba57f8f664.jpg

How are these shingles? We need to do our roof in spring, would it be worth picking these up in advance? I tried googling the topic, but answers varied greatly.

No idea, but the price was good. I didn't pick them up, just wanted to share.

this is an awesome warranty I have a 44 that the bracing weld broke, with it being in my service truck, i emailed and had to send pictures, they had a new complete box shipped to the store of my choice i took the old one in and they unloaded it and loaded the new one in and out maybe 15 minutes. Definitely rec the Masterforce box, when I go to a bigger box I will be buying one but right now with almost all my tools on the truck no need to have a big box in the garage

These Plano tool boxes are actually pretty high quality. I plan to pick up 5-6 of them. They work great for storing random power tools and accessories

The 3/8" 4x8 sheets of LP SmartSide are just about half price after rebate. Really good deal if you need them.

I was thinking about having my house re-done in this cement 'sheet' siding. I currently have vinyl and the wind and weather has tattered it over the last 15 years. Can anyone recommend this for standing up to the elements (wind especially)

Yes, its excellent. Its a 3/8" wood sheet that you nail to the studs so its pretty much impervious to wind when installed correctly.

SmartSide is not fiber cement though. It's engineered wood.

I find it strange that the Smartside panels are only listed with a one year warranty. The normal Smartside warranty is 5/50. 5 years parts and labor covered 100% and prorated materials only for the remaining 45 years.

If you leave a couple Grime Boss wipes in with the kitty litter box, is your cat truly self maintaining? :eyecrazy:

Yes, I am a dog person, so any cat based humor is fair game. :rocker: - Paul

Ha it's a good thing I forgot to mention about the free super glue. No limit either.

Free superglue. Got over there today for the last two week duration. Also, Juicy Juice Cranberry Apple 100% juice for $1 each. That is a good deal. Juice is like Crack to my two little kids so gotta get it cheap when I can! Also free after rebate drywall anchor kits for picture hanging and such. Pretty good kits with some bigger sizes good for 100 pounds or so, shelves even. Also, thank goodness, heart shaped DOVE chocolate box on sale. Did you all know it was valentines day? Glad I did my Menards run today! :) - Paul

Would those smartside panels be good to cover top of a sound but ugly looking deck with? Cheap way to upgrade to composite wood deck? Seriously?! Thoughts? - Paul

No way! It would be destroyed rather quickly. It would soak up water and delaminate.
