I really like your build, and I've learned alot just from reading the thread!
Those joist hangers look serious!
Yeah. They weren't cheap either. Simpson makes them for triple and quad LVLs as well. Some serious metal.
subscribed.....really wanting to see pics of this finished. Excellent job man!!
ME TOO! It's been a long road working on it. I got the first lumber last November but then the design changed with some help from bczygan I wound up returning most of it and going with the LVL design you see now. I've had to keep stopping and work on other things or deal with family issues.
Since December of 2014 I've been dealing with my father's estate. Most weekends and even weekdays have been spent for the last year or more driving an hour out of town to work on Mom's property and trying to get it all organized, picked through and ready for a huge auction that we finally had last month. My father was a gunsmith for 30+ years after he retired from the Air Force. The property consisted of a huge 5 bedroom house, 2 bedroom house, 40x68 foot building, 40 ft semi trailer, 40 ft mobile home and a couple sheds. Every one of them was full of collectables, antiques, sporting goods, tools and more.
I kept some things for myself but we sold most of it all. It's a huge relief and I can finally get back to life and working on my own projects and time with my boys. My father was a hoarder of great things but it has weighed down this family for some time. I'm not completely free yet though. The man who bought the property at the auction decided not to buy and voided the contract. We are now talking with a realtor about listing the property for sale. I hope it goes quick or else I will be back driving down there trying to fix it up more to sell it again.
On top of all of this my two older boys are in scouts, I'm a Den Leader and they also play football so there's a lot of schedule juggling there between campouts, activities, football practices and games. Oh yeah, there's also a 3 year old boy as well so he eats up some time as well.
WHEW.....that was exhausting by just reading that....lol
