I think I've decided that I want to do a 4 post lift instead.

Building came with the house when I bought it

I'm putting a 1x3 on the end and then some 1/2 or 1/4 inch thick on top to make a corner moulding over it. With the thickness of the flooring, underlayment and 3/4 subflooring the biggest corner moulding I can find locally is 1-1/4. Just doesn't do the trick.might want to put a stop on the railing side of that laminate floor. depending on quality sometimes the joints separate if there is any flex in the floor.
Thanks. It's been a long road on it. I get burned out or side tracked and have to get myself back into the groove. Also conditions haven't been that great in there with no heat or ac unless I was running a loud heater. While my buddy was installing the flooring I was working on installing the ductwork for my 90 percent Lennox furnace and A/C.Man this has turned out awesome!! But I knew when I was on about page 7 that I could just sense an addition coming soon!! Great job!!!

Thanks. I haven't gotten a lot of feedback on it so I didn't know if many were interested but I share anyways. Figure my journey could help or give ideas to someone. I just got furniture for it a couple days ago. I just threw it up there but we'll get it put in place and snap some photos. What an awesome thread!

I didn't know I had the skills either. I just did a lot of research and when I felt comfortable enough I went for it. I wouldn't want to do this for a living but since building this I have done a couple others for friends. It’s definitely helped me though I don’t have your skills.

Thanks. Working on the AC side of it now so we can enjoy it. Missouri heat is just cooking the top floor of it till I get my ductwork up there. Planned on having it done by the 4th but it came up fastHi, I just discovered this thread and wanted to say good job. You really did a nice job creating more useable space in your shop. Very nice, and I hope you and your family enjoy it! [emoji481]

Well I finally started on my build. I got all the lumber and everything back in November but could never get to it.
I've actually changed the design to have the stairway further back.
First challenge was to cut the notches out of the 6x6 posts. I found it easier to just feed them into the band saw and then cross cut the notches out with the circular saw.
After getting four posts up I bolted the 2x10 beams to them using Thrulok fasteners which are awesome to use. It's nice building it in 10 foot sections.
Next came the hangers and 2x8 joists.
One section done.
Tomorrow I should get more accomplished now that I've gotten the ball rolling.
Thanks man! Time management has become a real challenge...lol. Boys are now 7, 11 and 14. They're in scouts, football, baseball, and track. Its been crazy. I need to work on the shop and have so many plans for it but just no time. I'm wore out.Amazing thread! Just read the whole thing this morning. Inspirational as well, made me get off my lazy **** and get going on a project that I've been procrastinating about over the last year. I'm retired and have no excuses, you manage to do all that and still be a great father and husband while running your own business.

I'm sorry I missed this. Your shop looks like its coming along great. I need to post some updates. A LOT has been going on with the shop and even more with the house. New $30k septic system that has been run to both but I still need to bring into the shop and make a bathroom. I've also installed spiral duct in the shop. I've just started to rebuild my entire living room and kitchen floor from the dirt up so that's been an adventure and has taken me away from the shop as well. I thought about starting a thread on the Garage Gallery that I can post all the happenings.Thank you so much for this thread! I found it just as I was starting to design my mezzanine in my Worldwide Steel building. I was able to learn from your 'evolution' and incorporated a lot of your design into my final layout. My building is 30'x50' and I am building the mezzanine in the rear of the building, for a 30' by 14'-ish mezzanine:
