I'm not a lawyer... however I don't think there is anything illegal about opening a locked cage without permission. But beware if you get caught, you could be asked to leave the store, banned from the store and/or even trespassed off the property by police at minimum.

Stealing on the other hand is for sure a crime. Or at least it should be.

That said, the codes are going to vary by store. Having been an HD employee before and after these stupid cages were installed, I can guarantee they are not always associated with the store number.

Saw this earlier on the news;

I used to be a lawyer (CA Bar member, but inactive for 25 years) and just retired as a federal LEO - in other words, not qualified to do anything and this is not legal advice, merely a somewhat educated opinion. State statutes can vary, but "breaking and entering" is typically analogous with burglary which generally requires entering a dwelling and having the intent to commit another crime (typically theft). Although some states have statutes about burglarizing other types of buildings (business, detatched garage, etc), I don't think a cage in a building you are permissibly inside could ever constitute a dwelling.

All that said, there is no illegal entry into a building and no intent to commit another crime by opening the case to purchase some wire. While there may be some other applicable laws that could potentially be charged (trespassing perhaps, but doubtful), nobody is being convicted of Breaking and Entering for retrieving wire to go purchase at the register. And in reality, I can't see anybody ever being charged with anything so long as it is clear there was the intent to purchase.

But as others have said, Home Depot may not like what you are doing or they may think you are trying to steal something even if you aren't. As you stated, they may ask you to leave the store or ban you.

That said, if I have to wait long enough, I'm going to try it.

This is a deal that I might just jump on. I've been waiting for a sale on the dual battery head. Looks like for 50 bucks less they have the slightly less powerful single battery model as well. I could use the separator with my existing packout vac as well. Anyone else jump on this one?

The dual battery vac does not last long on dual 12AH — 15-20 minutes on high. If you just need it for a quick job or there simply is no 120V available, it is useful. You can buy a 120V head for it. I ended up doing that and have not been using the 18V head very much. Ideally there would be an 18/120V head.

Is the debris box meant for use with the little M18 pack out or does it need more suction to pull through it, like from the dual battery vac? If so maybe it is not that useful.

My Clarks tool e-rebate through automotive was denied this morning. Has anyone found a consistent solution for this? So far looks hit or miss. The zip code search on plumbing doesn't turn anything up.

I’m wondering if you have an issue with it. I’ve got three of those units and we’re averaging 30 minutes with dual 6amp’rs. I’ll have one of the guys do a test with dual 12’s and see what they report back.

I may be confusing it with the backpack blower. But I was shuffling batteries enough that I bought the 120v head for when I have power, which is the majority of the time. My original plan was for it to be just a battery vac. I looked up Milwaukee spec and it claims 34 minutes on high with two 12AH.

JB Tools has the Forge 8.0ah battery for $167; Amazon has it for about the same and another Amazon seller has it for $155.

I love my dual battery vac. No cord for it to hang up on as I walk through the shop and around the car. I can pull it out for a 10 second cleanup since I'm not spending a minute or two plugging in cords or winding them back up. Of course it's not a "have to" but once you start using one... Just like all the other cordless stuff we use.

OK, I was gonna jump on that dust separator dual battery vac deal but after looking at the new nexus line I think I'll wait for a dual battery of the newer line to go on sale. I've got this long without a full size shop vac, I can wait longer.

Did the new dual battery Nexus drop in CFM? I swore the v1's were able to **** 130 CFM vs the 120v at 160 CFM+. Was hoping for more CFM out the dual battery.

Haven't checked out all the specs but the integrated dust separator add on as well as packout on top made me want to wait for the dual battery to come out. I just assumed the specs would be the same or better.

Great tool, picked one up and gamed it with the battery offer from Home Depot. Awesome with the CP2.5 and 5.0HO batteries.

I am thinking about buying a number of pieces of Packout stuff. I was at Home Depot today looking at Packout stuff trying to figure out which items would meet my needs. There was a TTI rep there who told me there was going to be another Buy More Save More sale in the near future. (She said she is permanently based at that store.)

Would it be worth waiting for the BMSM sale? Are the prices that good? I saw that Tool Nut has a 15% off flash sale on Milwaukee today, but then noticed that every Packout item says 14 to 30 days to ship.

If it follows any past schedule, it will start in November/end of Oct for the 4th quarter, and go until January. It will be offered at all retailers when it happens. The prices are a set amount off total based off tier, with the top being $150 off $500. Closer to $500, the better savings.

Maybe tariffs will cause Milwaukee to reduce the discount or raise the pre-discount price? Seems like 15% off is about as good as it gets now. 150 off 500 would be 30%.

The markup on PackOut is enough for them to offer the promo, and at worst break even, but push a lot of product out.
With that said, there have been several PackOut price increases that would allow them to continue the same offer in the last couple weeks. Some of these price increases have only shown at other retailers, but most have updated them
2-drawer +$5
3-drawers +$10
Cabinet +$10
Large box +$10
Rolling bottom +$10
4 caster Dolly +$10
Rolling Drawer +$30
Rolling tool chest +$10
XL Cooler +$15
Deep organizer +$5

I'm quite positive the promo will be the same, as the buy a starter kit, get a free tool promo will be back as well. Though with that promo, I feel they have severely limited how many $199 kits they push to stores.

You'll love it, especially with the 5.0 battery.

Do the 2.5 HO batteries ever go on sale? I need to pick some up to try on this stubby.
Yes, usually bundled with a tool.

Hd hack may work for this.

I may have an unopened one laying around but dunno if it'd be worth it after shipping to you.

Clarks is out of stock, but they were on sale for $35.

$143 instead of $229.

Much more power than the gen1
thats the next thing. i still have 4 and 6 ho batteries kicking around..
You'll need the 5.0ho to get the most out of it. 2nd best being the 2.5ho. Otherwise its about 60-70ish% on the 4.0 & 6.0 batteries.

Torque test channel as a vid outlining the difference on youtube.

Clarks has the batteries on sale still too $60

I hope so. The BOGO seems to be a terrible joke. Buy one item, get just 5% off the second???

2 5.0's and the stick pump for $199 is tempting

Be advised that they canceled the battery part of my order (with die grinder, not pump).

Edit: You might have better luck ordering that package instead of the BOGO that I did. I guess I unintentionally did the Home Depot hack without trying.
