It's all about the transportation cost. My local quarry is about 15 miles from my house. Generally runs $90 - $150 for the truck hauling fee depending on the size of the truck bringing the load.
I'm not looking forward to the cost of fixing up my road after the construction traffic dies down. For those interested, 3 loads of “57’s gravel” and 1 load of crusher run cost $1865. I posted in the beginning I would be transparent on build costs. I am sure this may be higher or lower depending on where you are located.
Everything is more expensive these day's. Surprisingly, not really an increase from when I had to get rock for my driveway project in October 2020. We have 2 local quarries I think this helps.I feel your pain, last week we spent $900 on a load of 3/4 minus gravel and a load of 1 1/2-to-2-inch round rock.

We did our driveway project in October 2020. Really needed it after we moved here, not sure if it had been touched in the last 30 years. That was not too bad actually, we had another local guy take care of it for us and they did a great job. Our driveway is over 1/4 mile.I'm not looking forward to the cost of fixing up my road after the construction traffic dies down.

Thank you!I like the two bronze shades. It turned out nice.
I went through your pictures again and was curious about the down guy wire by the detached garage that the power company was going to convert to a sidewalk guy. Did that ever happen? Did it give you the extra ground clearance that you wanted?
Are you getting open cell, closed cell, or a combo of both spray foams?
Benefits of local guy and small town livingWow, that is a top notch team! Who did you have to threaten to arrest to get an excavator to work on Sunday!? If I haven't said it before, thank you for your public service.

Thanks, it is all coming together.Very nice progress! the shop is looking really good.
Looks like they are making good progress! Was the guy in the green shirt taking a leak in your power line ditch?![]()
Thanks! They aren’t bent, they are 8’ and he drove them in on an angle.Almost there !
Never seen ground rods bent over before.![]()
Thank you! I will get final numbers up at the end of the major projects. His quote is for 25k I dont pay him anything until the job is done. Concrete is scheduled for week of May 10th.Cost on concrete work?
Wow, what a wonderful project - love the pics, subscribed!

Contractors that show up on Sunday. Phone company employees that show up in an hour to splice wires. These are fairytales that GJ subscribers tell their kids at bedtime30 minutes after he left today he said the phone company will be on their way. 5 minutes later they pull in and spliced the cable for me![]()
Wow you move fast! I feel like a sloth over here.....
Thanks Ryan! Probably depends on where in the country you areLooks great Scott! Smart move to run the coax line through there while you were at it.
I laughed reading "Crusher Run" as I've only heard of it as Crush & Run, and I was almost positive I had just been mishearing the site-work guys for the last 10 months... Google says it can go either way so I suppose I wasn't horribly wrong.
***** to read about the insulation cost increasing, but as you said that's the way of the world these days. Buy once, cry once. Once the project is done and you're enjoying the space you'll never be thinking about the extra $1,500 it cost to insulate it!
