It's all about the transportation cost. My local quarry is about 15 miles from my house. Generally runs $90 - $150 for the truck hauling fee depending on the size of the truck bringing the load.

For those interested, 3 loads of “57’s gravel” and 1 load of crusher run cost $1865. I posted in the beginning I would be transparent on build costs. I am sure this may be higher or lower depending on where you are located.
I'm not looking forward to the cost of fixing up my road after the construction traffic dies down.

I feel your pain, last week we spent $900 on a load of 3/4 minus gravel and a load of 1 1/2-to-2-inch round rock.
Everything is more expensive these day's. Surprisingly, not really an increase from when I had to get rock for my driveway project in October 2020. We have 2 local quarries I think this helps.

Correct (y) We have 2 local quarries, they are about 10-15 miles as well for me. Surprisingly, not really an increase from when I had to get rock for my driveway project in October 2020.

We did our driveway project in October 2020. Really needed it after we moved here, not sure if it had been touched in the last 30 years. That was not too bad actually, we had another local guy take care of it for us and they did a great job. Our driveway is over 1/4 mile.

We are doing spray foam on the interior roof of the building. When the project started, I know Pioneer has the vapor barrier you can have installed for an upcharge obviously. However we had this in the shop in Texas and did not seem to do much with humidity and condensation problems. In addition was the cost, if I remember correctly without looking at the quote it was around $4800. I started calling around and talking with companies in reference to spray foam. I chose a local guy which I know from talking with others, will do a good job and plus being local he will take care of me if anything comes up. In February that quote was $6300. I called last week due to the shop being completed and the quote was now $8500. As with everything now a days price increases and limited availability. I understand it is where we are right now. We talked for quite a while discussing this new quote. Other companies I contacted were the same and higher since I had gotten previous quotes as well. As I stated previously we want to do this right the first time. I am sure there are cheaper options out there, however in the end you may pay double or more to fix issues cutting corners. I booked the job with him and we came to a price of $8000. Yes it is more than original budget, however we will be happy with the end result and doing it right the first time.

Garage doors were installed yesterday. We chose bronze as the color just as the rest of the shop. Of course unless the metal and doors are produced by the same company, there will be color tone differences and we were aware of this possibility. We are very happy with the color and contrast in reference to the rest of the shop. The installer is a local company and it was the owner and his son. They did a great job and it took them about 4 hours.

I like the two bronze shades. It turned out nice.

I went through your pictures again and was curious about the down guy wire by the detached garage that the power company was going to convert to a sidewalk guy. Did that ever happen? Did it give you the extra ground clearance that you wanted?

Are you getting open cell, closed cell, or a combo of both spray foams?

Thank you!

They are going to relocate the guy wire when they install the larger transformer and pull the 200 amp service to the shop. The trench for the power is going to be done tomorrow at 0730 (Yes Sunday)(y) Have I mentioned how awesome my excavator is:D

2" closed cell for the ceiling. He is going to try and complete it before I have the concrete go in the week of May 10th.

Wow, that is a top notch team! Who did you have to threaten to arrest to get an excavator to work on Sunday!? If I haven't said it before, thank you for your public service.

We got the trench dug up until the last 20’. I ordered another load of crusher run so we can completely fill it in with that. It will be a better base. He built up the entrance area so the truck and others would be able to gain access to the pad side. Monday morning my electrician, Pioneer QC and a load of stone are scheduled.

My excavator recommended we put phone cable in the ditch for future phone, internet, alarm etc. obviously easier now to do this. No charge for the cable and we ran it from the shop first, however we did not have 130’ on the spool we were short. So this morning finishing up we ran additional cable from the power pole side. He said I have a guy who owes me and will take care of the line.

30 minutes after he left today he said the phone company will be on their way. 5 minutes later they pull in and spliced the cable for me👍😊

Contractors that show up on Sunday. Phone company employees that show up in an hour to splice wires. These are fairytales that GJ subscribers tell their kids at bedtime :ROFLMAO:. A Job well done.

Looks great Scott! Smart move to run the coax line through there while you were at it.

I laughed reading "Crusher Run" as I've only heard of it as Crush & Run, and I was almost positive I had just been mishearing the site-work guys for the last 10 months... Google says it can go either way so I suppose I wasn't horribly wrong.

***** to read about the insulation cost increasing, but as you said that's the way of the world these days. Buy once, cry once. Once the project is done and you're enjoying the space you'll never be thinking about the extra $1,500 it cost to insulate it!

Thanks Ryan! Probably depends on where in the country you are ;) The increase is no big surprise and you are right on doing it right. No reason to cut corners near the end of the project. In addition, spray foam is going to make a big difference.
