"Mystery Toolbox has refunded your order (#31047) a total of $23.05 USD."

Got this message in an email today.

Order # 31047, I wonder if that is an actual order count ? If it is, that might a one and done money scheme.

$20 x 31047 = $620,940, even with a $5 discount, it's still $465,705

Yeah they refunded me too, ill say they were at least quick with not wanting to fight with people over the value of some cheap tools and false advertising

Refunded as well. Disappointing. If something went wrong and they couldn't send stuff, I would have appreciated an email. I guess after seeing the people who submitted a PayPal claim over what is and isn't retail value, without contacting the company and asking them to make it right, probably scared them off... especially since PayPal will lock your account and funds on a whim.

I emailed them earlier today asking about the status of my order as I haven't received a tracking number or refund. No reply yet.

As previously noted, no tracking info for me either. They say on their website that things should ship out by 1/12...which is today. I'm giving it till the end of the week then opening a Paypal dispute.

Refunded....Very odd "business." I guess they can't find enough junk to sell us. Go figure.

My guess is that they ran into an issue of scale. Keep in mind the origin of this post came from a printed out flyer tacked to the bulletin board at a gun range. I imagine they were only expecting 20 or so orders.

Probably but they should have stopped taking orders then. And really with a new venture I would have figured to juice the packages more because of problems like this. And maybe declared msrp vs retail to keep people from thinking they are getting some killer tools for cheap. Business is tough and people in general are a tough crowd. I'm sure they learned a few lessons here.

Origin of this thread yes, but see my post (#180) it was mentioned on Slick Deals.com and a few other sites.

Interesting. They also posted a Facebook page on the same day it was posted here and Slickdeals.

Furthermore, examining the website, I see:
"published_at":"2014-12-14T22:45:00-05:00"

Then this "deal" was posted here shortly afterwards.

Fools. Only mystery is why you thought this was a good idea.

And those requesting a refund for not meeting expectations, your the reason we have higher Paypal cost. To cover dumb shiv like this.

No refund for me mine must of shipped hopefully I at least get $20 dollars worth and I will be happy.

Oddly I did get a refund, or at least a notification about one, despite my having received a package and not contacted them to complain.

I say at least the notification because I don't see a credit in any of my accounts just yet.

... can't you find that out from the domain? sorry my internet skills end at google lol.

no because they are going through a privacy service, instead of registering the site themselves, they register with an intermediary site so no information shows up on an ip lookup. you have to contact them through that site and none of their information ever gets revealed as all information points to that place.

and then they have a p.o.box to ship from. so whoever did it probably didn't want people to know who they were.... for obvious reasons lol.

I opened up a dispute with my CC company today as I haven't heard anything back from the seller despite multiple emails.

I noticed something interesting on the payment details. The account he used appears to be just his full name...

Well I wouldnt worry about who did it too much unless he refuses to settle a dispute. Im sure he got plenty of people who didnt want a refund on a sour deal

Are you guys still whining about this? "Mystery" means buyer beware. Chalk it up to a learning experience. You purchased an item, had no idea what it was going to be, and now you don't agree with the retail value. Even a small claims court would laugh.

I only submitted a dispute because I haven't received a package or refund. The last thing I even received via email from him was the order confirmation and that's been a month ago.

So I gotta add something here...I'm probably going to piss some people off, but whatever.

To set the stage - I bought one of these. Paid via PayPal just in case. Ended up getting an unsolicited refund on Monday.

For those of you who didn't get a package at all, and haven't gotten a refund - I think now is the time to start seeking a refund. If you don't get ANYTHING, you get your money back. Period.

For those of you who actually got the package and are still seeking a refund...Come on man. That's how these things work. They're "Mystery Boxes." It's a play off of the Woot.com Bag of ****. You get a random assortment of stuff. The "retail" value is higher than what you pay...but nobody pays retail anymore, and everyone knows that. We all bought these hoping to get the one good item in our box...much like a lot of folks buy the Woot BOC's hoping to get the one or two TV's they occasionally put in there. Mind you 99% of the people get a box with a random pair of headphones, a polo shirt, and a kid's toy...but people keep buying them. Just like lotto tickets...and just like lotto tickets, you can't return them after you lose. They can't give everybody DeWalt power tools.
