Thanks Bears, I forgot to mention I had to bore a sheave to fit the metric? shaft on the planer. I didn't have any metric bits and the hole was a funny size so I chucked it in the late and bored it to fit. The planer had a flat style belt on it, I needed to match the motor v pulley.

Koozies can be custom made to order. ;)

So now you have started a new side business. I still have claims on the "prototype":willy_nil

Nine, the "C" is short for "Can't legally own". I have some time around lunch today, and can dispose of it properly for you.

And if you don't fall for that one, please think of your other anvils. They will be jealous of the new ******* the block, and hell hath no fury like an anvil scorned.

They are like rabbits, they multiply! You better be careful, you just got yours recently, do NOT feed it after midnight and no water! :willy_nil

Thanks Dan, the koozie will be a functional piece of wall art for you! The planer works fine, I will be attempting a trade up in a couple hours with it, that's what I'm hoping works.

This pic is for Outlaw, I know how much you like using hinges on motors!

I put a short video of it running on my instagram. :scared:

Thanks jekquist!

Outlaw, we laugh but it worked really well and allowed me to swap the machine(along with a few other tools) for that anvil. The guy said he was wanting woodworking tools and needed a planer, we ran a stick of rough cut 3x5ish Cedar through it and it came out freakin beautiful. He was pleased. Now I'm on the lookout for another broken motor planer for cheap/free.

Wow. I'm excited now. The wife just looked at them and told me I need to get my *** in gear and get the rest of the car done. She wants to go to a local drive-in diner this summer in the Delta. Take your time Shayne, then I can blame it on you.:lol_hitti

Knocked this Reed 106 apart after soaking the screws/pins for two days. I think this one will be bare naked and oiled! :willy_nil

Nines: the Reed 106 looks awesome. just straighten the handle and of course I like the BLO naked vise look. I know you said you needed to or are going to sell it, but that would be an awesome addition to your shop especially with those Anvils you own.

no clue on the C and one of us should have an anvil book to look it up, but sadly I don't. is the NEW anvil with a C weigh about 75 pounds or do tell size and weight?

keep up the great work.

looks like the BAD DREAMS have ended in your life, but you still don't know what NPT is. of course look who's talking and I'm up for Wednesday already after a few hours sleep.

Thanks 1/2 Cup! In my multitasking, I have been tinkering with what to do with the new stand I got from Merc. It's believed to be a Craftsman kit, Bluebolt linked to an ad in the Garage Sale Thread and other than the wood, it looked the same. I am torn, I could use it out in the shop as-is or swap out the wood top and shelf with the old growth pine I picked up from a junk pile at a wood mill, seal the wood and paint the metal and use it in the living room as a media center for the receiver, etc. It would look really nice fixed up but it's only original once and I like the character it has now too...

Just saw your post, thanks! The Reed is Merc's vise, I am just refurbing it to sell it and we will split the profits. He has a HUGE bullet and I have umpteen vises around here and no real need for such a large one atm. Besides, Merc would want my anvil in trade...

About the anvil, it was discussed in the Anvil thread and identified as a Columbian Forge of Swedish descent, cast by Fagersta Bruks. It is roughly 28" long, 10.5" tall and weighs 168 lbs. Apparently Columbian Anvils were cast in Sweden for a short period by two folks and this was the Bruks version. I'm assuming they are slightly more rare than the more common Columbian's cast here but :dunno:. I know it's in better condition than my Hay Budden and with the info I have on it so far, I think I will be hanging on to it for a while.

This pic is for DLC!

Nines: great information about the anvil and i'll have to check out the anvil thread and see who provided all that for you. looked smaller in the back of your car and that's about a perfect size one. also being Swedish and me being Norwegian i'd love to own one like it someday so will put it on the WANT and NEED list.

I agree with PINES you should keep that table as is with the same top and either use it in the shop as you find a need or just clean it up a little and bring it inside the house. save the wood for another project.

BTW if that REED was a 108 or 109 i'd be trying to negotiate a deal with you, but I already own 2 106's. neither in as good a shape as yours and Merc's though. I think it weighs 130 pounds and I actually had to take mine apart to put it on a shelf above my head. Dang it's hard getting old.

cheers and hope to see you on NPT some days too because i'm not always up now.

Cool nines. 3 2 72 . I also found a paper in the passengers side door that had some inspector's name and number on it. It cool to see that stamped into the back of the seat cover. Where was it? Back rest or *** rest?

Cool, and thanks for giving me the info on looking for new carpets. I found some and ordered them on Wednesday. Molded with rubber foot rest, made for 71-73 Delta 88. And I about fell over. They are $154.00 shipped. They're on the way.

What are you up to this weekend? Any yard sales?

I'm heading to an Estate sale at 8:00 tomorrow morning. The guy has a dust collection system that I want to see. Who knows what else he's getting rid of. I'll be one of the first ones through the door I hope.

No big sales planned, may try to finish cleaning the pool but its supposed to rain some. Awesome score on the carpet, it comes a little wide and you'll have to trim it to fit, may need to trim for the trans tunnel at the firewall too. When you get it, before you do any cutting, call me!

What should he call you?

Hope the rain is not too bad, it is chilly here today and overcast. The shop temp is set at 60 but I am cold.

You go the vise back together yet?

He can call me anything, just don't call me late for dinner! :D

Its been raining off and on all week, we need some dry weather so i can get some painting done on the pallet rack.

The vise will be finished this weekend, with exception to the bent handle. Merc has a 20 ton press so we should be able to get it straight, if not i will make a new one.

I am assuming you at least finished the beer in the picture? If so you got something done!

I hope the rain stops so you can get the rack painted.

How is your back doing?

Back is always an issue, i got thrown from a blazer in hs that flipped several times and nearly killed us all, ever since i can do something as small as reach for a kitchen cabinet door wrong and it will bring me to my knees. Some days are better than others.

Im ashamed to say but the beer is old, i bought a 18 pack back in Feb 2015 for my birthday and only had a couple, i just saw the expiration date Oct 2015 when i made the wrap...

Nines: up until about 10 years ago I never even had a clue BEER could or would expire especially in my fridge. now I have to pay attention especially since all my boys are gone too and my wife hates beer.

post up more pictures of the Reed 106 when you have time on whatever thread you like and the 101 thread doesn't get too many big vises so someone telling us the challenges of a big vise would be a nice change. did you decide to paint or BLO?

yes a 108 or 109 made by REED would be a nice addition to my shop and probably yours too. not sure I NEED an almost 300 pound vise, but then again when has NEED ever had the final decision on all purchases.

cheers

That is too funny Nines, I have some stuff in my shop fridge and I should probably check the expiration date as well. I think I bought it a long time ago. I guess maybe it is better to buy liquor, I don't think it has an expiration date.

I thought that I couldn't call you late for "supper". Do you realize that is alcohol abuse. You should never let beer expire. And I will call you before I do anything with the carpets. Thanks.

That's a great line Dan. I'll have fun with that.:beer::beer:

Sounds like a good signature.

I'll never be guilty of alcohol abuse in my shop.

It's not abuse if you don't waste it, I have not thrown it out yet. I plan to pick up some fresh beer for when Strouty comes by and after 2-3 new beers, substitute the old beer to him.

Luckily for me I don't drink beer. I drink wine coolers and other fruity type things. I do however enjoy rum, but even then I like coconut and pineapple rums. Go figure.

Torn on that table. I can see leaving it original, and I can see replacing the top and making it shine. Only you Nine's can make the call.

nines, I would be inclined to leave the table as it is. It just oozes character.
