Check ebay for "gold plating machine" or "gold plating rectifier" and look for 30a models, they start around $100 but I cant speak for any of those, this one is a Gold Plating Specialists rectifier and they are no longer in business.

I'm curious as well Strouty. I use a old solid state battery charger with 6/12v and 2/6amp settings. The most I've ever drawn with it was on 6v pulling 4.8Amps. What would be cool to have is the LCD display. I have to use a DC amp meter...

Turfgnome, the one you linked to is a 30v with 5a output, mine is definitely 30a, I think it's either 24v or 30v but yes, a 30a version of the regulated DC lab supply would be the same exact thing.
IDK how many amps it's actually running, I will have to check and see if it's what the display shows or if that is a reading of the resistance between the cathode and anodes
I dumped, cleaned and refilled the tub as it looks like it will need another few days at least, this thing is a beast!

Sweet, this is on my list of many things to do. Even if I do get my mill going first, you beat me to the electrolysis.

Sorry I am bidding on that power supply at an auction and they told me it is 5 amps. Guess it might be worth a little more then the $10 I am at. I want it for a bench power supply as well as electrolysis.

Nine, you don't need to dump and clean between runs. I
ll skim off the scunge, and add water, but heat usually need attention is to just remove the black oxide roughly from the part, and periodically take the worst of the accumulated rust off the anodes, and that's about it. replace evaporated water to keep the levels usable and go.

Outlaw, I've been skimming for two of the three days, it builds up fast in here and there was so much **** in the water I went ahead and washed out the tub completely and scrubbed the static jaw in the sink with coarse steel wool then started over. Merc came by an hour after I fired it back up and the water was already too murky to see the jaw. One problem is I didn't prewash the jaw, I hit one side of yhe slude with a wire cup on a grinder before giving up and going with the electrolysis. All the grease, rust, paint and grime was on there THICK, not to mention there is a lot of surface area there.

Nines, Electrolysis will take off paint and rust but it won't usually touch the grease or the grease based grunge that seems to build up on tools. What can help with that is Caustic Soda aka lye, oven cleaner etc. You might have some success with the grease/electrolysis depending on the electrolyte you are using.

If it's caked on this is absolutely true, if its a light coating of oil the solution is using "washing soda", and it will clean light oil. But I agree, get it off before hand.

So nine, are you saying that the first soak of more than a day didn't get it all stripped? Holy ****! How bad was that thing? Parts from this old post drill were stripped clean in less than 24 hours when I ran them through the tank.

Hi, Nines. Just an observation but it "appears" your leads are reversed. Black lead goes on the part you are saving, red lead on the scrap.

Good catch Bob. I didn't notice that at first, so I had to go back and look.

Three days Fyrme, plus another day since I dumped and started over yesterday.
Outlaw, it was mostly paint and rust on the outsides but inside the slide had a THICK coat of black grease.
Bobioz1, it appears you are correct. The red alligator clip was in the worst condition so I attached it to the part, the red banana clip on the other end should have went to the black post. Apparently I forgot by the time I plugged them in.
The good thing is, the part is grease free and only has a little rust and grime on it now and since I just reversed the leads, it shouldn't be long! Thanks for catching that!

I pulled the slide out and scrubbed it good, looks okay but I'll probably hit it with a wire cup brush anyway. The static jaw will go in tomorrow, may try the screw, nut and base too if there's room. That dynamic jaw is a beast, I mean beast! It's so hard to handle, then trying to rinse it in my utility sink was comical to say the least. I kept waiting for it to burst the bottom out of it, the sink is plastic and that slide jaw has to weigh 80lbs or so...

This makes me want to build an electrolysis tank. Gotta get my cheap *** Harbor Freight battery charger back from the coworker I loaned it to a few months back.
Nine, I've found that easy off oven cleaner is a really good heavy duty degreaser. It even strips paint off. Check out this compressor pump I'm working on before and after. Still looks like ****, need to wire wheel off the rest of the paint and put a fresh coat on, but that's after a ten minute soak and spraying it off with a hose. Edit to add: the pump was originally green, then red, then blue, then caked in about 30 years of grime. Ten minutes got it down to bare cast iron in a lot of places.

Hey nine, have you invested in a good commercial HEATED pressure washer yet? I figured you're such a wheeler dealer, you either have one already or can get your hands on one. If you don't, I highly recommend getting one. Hot water can get into places not brush can.

I don't have space or money for a heated pressure washer. But I use a cheap but somewhat effective steam cleaner. It doesn't get the grease off on its own so I spray down with Simple Green first and let it work. Then hit with the steam and it works pretty good.

Oven cleaner does work great, and I don't have a heated presure washer but I do have a steam cleaner but between the 1,000 things I have going on, I didn't think to use either. I'll throw up a pic of the dynamic jaw later today when I start the other parts.

Just noticed that "ouc" is supposed to be "pic", damn tablet auto corrects to wrong words so I turned it off and now it doesn't help me when I mistype... can't win for losing... 
I did empty the tote again today and started refilling it when I realized the static jaw will not fit depth wise, I'll need to find a deeper tote, large enough to hold that beast. The fluid film is doing a good job of preventing rust on the dynamic jaw though so all is good there. In other good news, I'm the new proud owner of the vise and I didn't have to whack anyone, off anyone or whack off anyone so now the hard part of "should I keep it, or let it go"... if it were a swivel, there would be no question but it's a solid mount and I don't particularly like that style. It is the largest vise I currently own so there's that... damn you Merc, you clearly have good intentions but you're making my life hard with all these decisions... I'll have to get you back somehow, er, I mean repay you somehow... but sincerely, thank you and I mean that, it's not just the Crown talking.

Go grab a Sterilite tub from Walmart for $4.97. My $5 got to small though and bought the one size bigger one for $9.88. I've got mine rigged up so I can put a lid on it when I'm not using it.

Dang it Strouty, I do believe that I have a base and pole heavy enough for such an idea set aside for just this type occasion...you're making this a lot tougher for me now.
