The one bolt is more of a rod. It'll be 1/2" in diameter with a hitch pin clip (hair pin) on one side and a T-head (or something like) on the other end. The rod will go through from one side to the other.

A little break in the weather.... not raining or 90 plus degrees. I did get to work on the trailer but I didn't get a picture of setting up the closet cabinet. However, I did drop the ramp for the first time since moving it to the pad.
Looks like it's going to fit.

I've been wanting to get back on the trailer but between the rain and 90° temps, it's been keeping me at bay. However I did get out there yesterday and started to mount the large upper cabinet that I call the closet.
I had to offset it since I don't have an extra height trailer. I'll lose about an extra 5" inches of benchtop but I believe I'll be okay.
I screwed some angle to the bench top and ceiling as support and also to attach the side of the cabinet. I have the left side done and got distracted today for lunch. When I came back home, it started raining about 15 minutes later so I quit working on the trailer.
So I decided to work in the garage after supper. The step up into the trailer is 16-17" and more than I like. So I started to build a step box that I'll take to the track with be. It's about 8" tall so it'll break the step in half.
Plan is to paint it black, put some carpet on the top and maybe some stair edging to prevent the corners & carpet from getting tore off.

Could you make that "wasted" space a place for jackets or wet weather gear for quick access?
Just put that step box on your "Before we leave" check off list.
I chased a guy 50 miles down the interstate with his.
We had perked next to each other at a rest stop and his wife needed it to get in and out of his 5th wheeler.

I created a similar step for my trailer, made it so it would sit in the foot well of the door. You have to keep in mind of uneven services at the track, some times I'm on pavement and sometimes in the grass.

It won't be wasted. I have a piece of metal bent up to fill in the gap. I just need to trim it to fit, screw it in place and caulk the seams. It just makes the closet larger which is really no big deal.

I'm planning on keeping it in the footwell, if I remember it before leaving the track. I cut mouse holes in the center supports to lighten it up and it should help when the ground isn't level, I hope.

Maybe this will help. I just finished this up today and this evening, the wife and I are going to make a little road trip to Summit up in Tallmadge.
Closet all finished up with seams caulked. I do still need to clean a little bit of clear RTV off the cabinet.
Opened up, this should give me plenty of storage for blankets, pillows, towels or whatever bag I bring my clothes in.
I also finished up the step and tried it out.

Maybe it would be worth connecting the stairs to inside the trailer with a chain. It would stop you from being able to close the door until it is inside and would hinder someone from being tempted to swipe it.

I finished up my step box. I painted the bottom edges along with the entire box black with some oil based paint. I figured that would be better than latex for exterior use. Then I glued some carpet to the top side. It should be a help from slipping on the painted plywood and makes it look nicer. Then I added some stair edging to keep a corner from getting knocked off or the carpet from rolling off. I finished it with a set of handles, I figured why not... I might have to lock it to the trailer now.
I think I also found out why some trailers catch on fire. Notice the wiring that rubs on the aluminum trim ? I covered it with a small piece of rubber hose.

Who needs a fire extinguisher, do you even know how to use one of those properly? I am thinking you should get some training first.

After making the maiden trip to the track last weekend, I found a few things I wanted to improve on. While trying to adjust the clutch cable on the Mustang, I found I needed another 1/2" wrench so I searched for some cheaper "doubles". I spotted some Menard's brand Performax ratcheting wrenches in metric and SAE. They were a 5 pc set for $7 each and figured they would be fine for their intended use. I also wanted to make some drawer organizers. So I made a small purchase....$20
I was unsure how to cut the bins down until it I thought about the bandsaw. I tried one out and it was fine.

I also found out I need to prepare for the times when I can only plug into a 120V source like at home. I had to buy the correct adapter which I didn't have. I also got concerned the other day when I spotted a mole out by the trailer. I had been thinking about a mouse climbing up the extension cord and getting into the trailer. I can only imagine what type of carnage it would cause chewing on wires.
To solve these problems I can up with solution. I mounted a box inside the compartment after drilling through the trailer floor. In the picture, you can see easy it would be a for a mouse to get in.
I added some pvc conduit, another box underneath and an LB.
When you flip open the cover, you'll find a find the end of a short cord and male plug. I did have to modify the cover to allow the plug to pass thru.
At the other end, you'll find a 30 amp style plug on the inside and the shore power cord plugged in.

Great job outfitting the trailer. If you need more bins, jugs from oil, antifreeze, etc run thru the band saw make great bins. Between, quart, gallon, 5 qt oil jugs there is a good selection of sizes and you can make them whatever height works best obviously. I use a lot of them in the shop.

Eric, I'm confused about the shore power. Why don't you just have an inlet plug under the trailer, and have that wired into your trailers electrical directly? Then you would always use an extension cord plugged in under trailer both at home or at the track.

Thanks. I have seen other members here use cut down jugs like you mention many times and nothing wrong with that. I just happen to see the bins while at Menard's and the idea came to me in a flash. The blue ones were $1.88 and the smaller red ones were 49 cents I believe. The yellow one I didn't even look at the price.

My trailer came with a closeable drop through cover like most others shown in the picture. I will mention I did move the location as shown in the beginning of this thread.

When I use the factory hole to plug in, it leaves the cover open slightly with the cord passing thru. I've been worried a mouse (we live in a rural setting) could climb the cord and make his way inside and destroy stuff. 30 amp cords aren't cheap neither are 30 amp to 120v adapters.
If I were to have a plug underneath, I think it would have to be a generator style plug as I'm not sure what else is out there that a cord be plugged into. I really didn't want to make a "suicide" cord with a male plug on each end.
When I'm at the track, I will still use the "pass thru" if I can connect to a 30 amp service (Summit Motorsports park/Norwalk) has power in places at the track. If I can't use the 30 amp, I can still use a 120V receptacle to plug into. Trackside has 1- 50 amp, 1- 30 amp, and two 120V outlets.
Plugging into the 120V allows me to turn on the lights (LED fluorescents) and run something in the outlet like a fan. Nothing big like a future rooftop AC unit.
I'm not sure if I answered your question or not but I do use a regular extension cord (12ga) on a 20 amp breaker protected by a GFCI when plugged in at home. Basically what I did was nothing more than a hardwired extension cord with an outlet on the other end and adapts it from 120V to a 30 amp for the trailers shore power.

I haven't been getting much done lately, it's either been raining or ninety degrees (give or take a few degrees) and high humidity. So I prefer to chill out inside in the A/C.
However after it rained this morning, it was cool and I cut down a few more blue bins. They went in the tool box to further organize it and keep stuff from bouncing around while enroute.
The other thing I did was to hang some funnels and drain pan. If you recall, I made an ATP partition between the lower cabinet sections. I got the idea to hang them there but thought about making hooks but came up with something pre-made. Peg Board hooks. I marked, drilled two holes, added the hook and then added some clear RTV to the backside to help keep them in place.

Interesting on the shore power, I have been thinking of installing one of those twist lock connector that passes through the wall. Adaptors, after learning like you I have a few, even a 50amp to 30amp.

Finally got a nice day, so after helping a friend check out some future projects, I got started working in the trailer. While it doesn't look like much, getting this upper cabinet going was a PITA. The front interior wall is curved so there is no real "straight" spot to measure from. I dropped some marks with a plumb bob onto masking tape, made a template with masking paper. I thought I was ready to cut it out only to realize that I forgot to flip the white metal over after drawing the shape with a black Sharpie. Luckily, some lacquer thinner took off the Sharpie and I was left with a nice clean piece of white metal.

If you look back somewhere in this thread, you'll see the closet I built. I kinda screwed up when I did it and left the white metal edges showing. it has been killing me so I took care of the problem and trimmed it out with some aluminum. It makes me much happier.
You can see a little bit better the corner of the closet as I used some angle to trim the outside corner. You'll also notice the speaker sitting on the box. It'll get mounted on the end of the upper cabinet where you can slightly see the brackets.
EDIT: Now that the pics are posted, you can also see the speaker bracket in the first picture.

I marked out the layout for the other upper cabinet. Once that was done, I fabbed up the bottom of the cabinet, the end and screwed them together. I also pre drilled holes for the screws. Although they were smaller than the screws, they marked the location where they should be.
The last upper cabinet is screwed in place and just needs a little bit of caulk.
