For those who have trouble finding ethanol-free gas, there’s a free iPhone app “Pure Gas” that will locate stations selling it near you. Not sure if there’s an android version but I’d expect so.

I'm having a little confusion finding a carb for an 1980s Honda generator. All the ones I see on ebay seem to indicate they fit the larger models too. The bore size is my concern. Anyone have experience with these old things? I cleaned the bowl and got it running last year and it purred like a kitten at idle and under load, now it won't run without a little choke and even then it's pretty bad. Ethanol free with both. I really want this thing to purr again. Then I'll build a permanent tank from a gas can with a bulkhead. It belonged to a friend's brother who bought it new.
The stock carb seems to be part #16100-ZE1-825 that replaced #16100-ZE1-814. That's what I've found on https://www.ereplacementparts.com/carburetor-assy-p-559861.html and a few other parts sites.
This ebay description leaves me hesitant. https://www.ebay.com/itm/H127-2-163...-5H/222904608393?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144
The other ebay listing I find have the new style switch and make me think the carb is different too, like for a newer model. Maybe the carb is the same.
Thanks.
Amazon is good cause of the reviews - but you have to Wade through the obviously ******** reviews in broken English - or 5 sales with the same sale date... Amazon returns might be easier too. [/QUOTE said:Or just install the fakespot extension on your browser
This is great advice for anyone who buys a new engine. Running with nothing but E0 gas is the easiest way to reduce carb related issues. I'd also add that for those of us in areas where we store summer and winter equipment, running dry, removing the bowl, and spraying with cleaner is a good idea.I own an ultrasonic cleaner..... but the nearest gas station to my house sells gas without ethanol. I haven't had any carb problems since I started buying the correct gasoline. None! (Probably 8 years or more)
Opposite for me. My HM80 Sno-King from 1977 has been trouble-free. I'm going to check the valves (clearance/seats) this summer because they're overdue. My 20hp Briggs decided one day decided it didn't need both governor counterweights, and I caught it in time. The part itself was simply cheap, and I bought the mower new and replaced the oil RELIGIOUSLY.I've always had good luck with Briggs engines. Tecumseh not so much.

It's EPA regulated where to sell it with E10 and in the North East maybe in a marina they may sell it if even there as the enviro nuts run everything. Try Lucas ethanol treatment or you can buy the real pricey stuff in quart and gallon cans.I loaded this app to check it out. I have no gas stations anywhere near me that sell ethanol free. There a couple of hard ware stores listed on this app and even they are not close, about 20 miles away. I'm assuming these places are selling it by the Gallon can instead of from a gas pump. I'm in Rhode Island. I went on a trip visiting my son in OKC and I was very surprised to see it at about of 1/3 of the gas stations. I'm guessing either the laws are different here for it or it just is not economical for the area to sell it.

My luck has been good with the ultra sonic cleaner when I have to do carb cleaning. I'll get the cleaner hot and then let the carb sit for 15 minutes as I keep resetting the sonic cleaner. Gives me time to clean the engine and body of what ever I'm working on. I've saved a lot of small engine that way. Also something to check is the movements of the governor and linkages, if they are corroded or dirty they will cause problems with the carb running right. If the engine is surging or pulsing then check the linkage first, with all of these automatic control engines that's usually the culprit.

Also...Cooking overnight in a crockpot filled with antifreeze does a good job of cleaning too.
Those procedures don't work on the plastic carbs, do they?

Just ordered one...Will report once received and installed. https://www.ebay.com/itm/153099030942
Was given a Huskee Supreme MTD (Troy Bilt Bronco) with a **** Kohler Courage 19 (SV590) engine. It's very low hours but has been sitting for years...Cleaned the carb but still won't run without choke. Carb solenoid is also bad. For $17 I'll just throw one of these ebay carbs on it.
some more. LOL
