Here's the same type of station in St Helena, California. The plan is to move it a few blocks off the main drag into a park and use it as restrooms.

I use to walk/drive by that ol station for a couple years when I worked at the B of A behind it. Too bad they're moving it, but that real estate is worth a ton of money.

Here's a old gas station I saw last weekend in Bryce Canyon UT. I think it said that it was built in 1948 and closed in 1988. Pretty cool, wish someone would do something with it.

The wife and I took a very enjoyable road trip from Athens GA through Gadsden AL up to Savannah, TN and back down to Vicksburg MS last weekend and spotted a couple nice old buildings. This on Hwy 22 at the MS/TN line. I assume it was a Texaco?

Then there was this, what I presume was a car dealership at one time. On Washington at Speed Street in Vicksburg.

When leaving Savannah TN we happened to get on the Natchez Trace Parkway http://www.nps.gov/natr/planyourvisit/parkway-maps.htm and stayed on it all the way to Jackson MS. Some of the most serene and peaceful roadway we have ever been on. Speed limit only 50 MPH which probably contributed to the fact that we probably only met less than 20 oncoming vehicles all the way down. So if you ever need to go south from TN to southern MS or Louisiana and not in a hurry but could use a break from the interstates, I'd highly recommend the route. Oh and a good place to eat around Savannah is the Hagey's Catfish Hotel has some awesome cat fish and frog legs. http://catfishhotel.com/

We went through St Helena yesterday. My wife asked if I wanted to drive by the gas station but traffic was completely stopped. Typical Sunday in the Napa Valley. So we bypassed downtown and went up Spring Mountain Rd to St Helena Rd and across to Santa Rosa. What a beautiful drive over the mountains.

To lose a steel, porcelain and glass gas station doesn't mean much to the throngs of foreign tourists being bussed from one winery to the other. To me the charm of the old town sections in Napa, St Helena and Calistoga is a bigger draw than any winery in the valley.

I've always wanted to buy an old station like this and restore it as a museum or my own private shop. I couldn't think of a more beautiful spot than this. Unfortunetly, it will probably sit there for years until the local city council decides to tear it down to make a parking lot.

This station is still standing in Portland Oregon. On a side street that has residential all around it. It's been added on to quite a bit but would make a great work shop or food truck location.

The second is from south of Portland looks like the forty's gas was 32.9 per gallon

My Dad's British American Service Station

Here are a couple of photos of my Father's B/A station from the sixties. I spent a lot of time there as a very young boy.

That's his 1965 Oldsmobile Delta 88 to the left. It had a 425 Rocket high compression engine and a limited slip differential.
The Bronco appears to be a '66 and he owned a series of them; right up to his 1976 with a 302, automatic and dual fuel tanks.
I don't know much about the service truck to the right except that it's a 4X4 Mercury.
On the premium gas pumps, you can make out a pair of horse shoes. They were part of a sales promotion and were decals of a sort.

My dad kept the garage, especially the office/show room, very clean.

Here, he's posing with an employee for a publicity photo. That's a cool old Coats tire changer with a floor jack to its left.

In 1970, my Dad moved from B/A to Shell oil and opened this brand new California style station.

Here is one from 1959. I worked at that Esso station, while in HS. The price of gas then was 37.9 cents per (imperial) gallon. Both the B-A and Esso stations are still there, but in different forms. I may have some newer pictures.
The location is 149th St. and 95th Ave. Edmonton (AB).
