Cookies do go in the holes. They give a bigger footprint for the post. The holes are 4' x 20". I lightened photo to show it better.

So is the whole place getting concrete or just the workshop?

The whole inside of building 32' x 64' gets concrete on Thursday. Shop gets 5" with 6" pads for lift plus insulation and Pex for heat. Storage side gets 5".

Next week the 16' x 24' porch get 5".

Two man crew today. Insulation, mesh and PEX is down for shop floor. Note indents for lift. Mesh is down on the storage side. More of the sheet metal trim is up. All of the wrap is hand fitted.

I found one screwup (mine). I had the man doors mounted to close to the overhead doors which dosn't leave enough room for the light switches. Have to think about that for a while.

Clipped: how about a wireless remote for the lights to avoid having to turn on a switch next to the man door? not sure if there is an option that will work for you, but thought i'd throw it out there.

the heated floor and thick cement should be awesome when finished and looks like you have another pro putting in the heating hose.

Clipped: another idea i had is since you are in the country how about a switch either on the outside of the door or on the support beam in the carport? or run a wire to a switch so you can turn on a few lights from inside the house or turn them off from there?

Thanks for the input guys. Hinge side is an option. Almost all of my usage is going to be during daylight hours. If my natural light choices work out I shoudn't need lights that often. Outside lights may get an out side switch or remote.

Today brought some more trim work and prep for tomorrow's pour at 0 dark 30.

Clipped: are you only heating the floors in the one half of your shop? i'm guessing the studs are going to be a wall and maybe installing a few fans above to keep the heat from getting away?

did you have just a heating guy come in and do the radiant heating or is it part of the job your contractor is doing? any idea how much extra that cost to put the heat in the flooring?

good luck and hope the weather cooperates for your pour and all your workers and the cement trucks arrive on time.

Drivesit: I am keeping the shop at 24 x 32 to help keep the heating cost down and to limit the number of projects in there at one time. The wall will be where the 6x6s are. I will go through the first winter and see what fine tuning is needed.

The PEX was done one of the building Co. guys. He is also their concrete guy. The concrete Co. has been doing 250 yard pours at a big job for a while, hence the early start.

Clipped: You sure picked the right guys to do the concrete work. I bet you are happy you waited for them. So many horror stories about shoddy cement work on some of the members garage builds its nice to see that yours wasn't one.

The concrete guys are part of the Kauffman Metals team in Bedford PA (my builder). The lead concrete guy (Nick) knows concrete and makes it look easy,I know better.
The portico will be poured Friday morning.

Two man crew today. Back side siding and translucent panels added today. Light in storage area is good. Some siding put on the front. A lot of the picky trim work done on the portico. This stuff is hand fitted.

Clipped: looks great as per usual. i really like the idea of the clear siding to bring in free light to the shop in the unheated side. are you going to store some hay in there or just 4 wheel machines?

nice picture of the neighbors. either your crows are awefully big or maybe that is a raven in behind the turkeys. yes? i had a tenant leave a hungry turkey at my rental 30 years ago and he was a mean *******. i didn't have my gun so called the local humane society and since it was November they appreciated me calling.

Today is the pour for the portico. Two guys one concrete truck. They started a little before sunup and finished at noon. More nice looking concrete.

Toying with a few different ideas - a wrap that matches the wainscoting which could easily be changed or possibly a faux stone or brick. My wife thinks they should be encased with a slightly larger structure that she could fill with flowers.

One man crew today. The concrete was cut this morning then pressure washed. The high trim was finished this afternoon. Last shot is the manlift being loaded.

Clipped: can you tell us why your guy is cutting the concrete slab in your carport? i have an idea and just wanted to know what you have to say.

i like the idea of the planters on the posts if you can protect the posts from rotting or maybe get a couple huge pots to put next to your posts that have a nice wood or brick wrap on them.

are you done with the outside now and just working on the inside? do you have another crew finishing that or are you planning on finishing it yourself?

looks awesome and congrats on getting it all weathered in before winter.

I thnk the flowers will have to wait until spring. Welding project, maybe.

The inside is on hold until the electrical installation is done and will be done by the same crew. Garage doors go in at that time.

The 10K Rotary 2 post lift is scheduled for next week.

I can't tell you how much i wish that was my shop, but i'm patiently waiting for my turn to build one.

Today I put stone around the perimeter. Loaders sure make life easy.
I had the electrical guy out last week to go over the job. Now I have to wait my turn with him.
I spent the last 2 weekends buying another old tractor (1947 Empire) and going to tractor shows. A little break from the building.
Lift goes in tomorrow and more stone is coming for driveway.
