Zero percent finance on that?

I bought a new John Deere lawn mower, just before the turn of the year. They were trying to move inventory, and offered free financing. So I bought a silly big zero turn. Financed for 72 months!

Martin
Yeah 0% for either 60 or 72 months. I don't remember which off the top of my head. Sales guy asked if I wanted to pay for it or finance it. The cash incentive was $500 so I put my checkbook away and said finance it !!!

Here it is on the showroom floor.

OMG Martin :lol_hitti

Tweels and the whole works !!!

They saw you coming :drink:

BUT it's ONLY $236/month for life. It's a good deal !!!

I must have gotten a 60mo deal as it was going to be $740ish/month if I remember correctly. Still better than a payment on a new 8rx410 :lol_hitti

I abuse my mower. My tires are always flat. I wanted to see how these hold up. I can always switch back to pneumatic.

Yeah, if it wasn’t for the free financing, I wouldn’t have even considered it.

Martin
I keep two tires on rims for my Hustler as I always find something dumb to turn them into flattened floppy pancakes again.

You will LOVE the Tweels. I ran them on a skid loader on a big dairy while doing their parlor install and they are amazing. Comfortable riding and no flats !!

I love when John Deere lets you use their money for FREE!

What's better than low interest rates....no interest rate! (this is coming from a banker  )
Oh Mother Deere is getting her money one way or another. $44,000 for a lawnmower BUT no interest. Mmmmmmmhmmmmmmm. They ain't doing it for nothing lol.

But I agree, free is better than almost free !!

:) Can hire a lot of mowing for $44,000 but then you lose the sweat and grass clipping cologne :)
It’s got a loader as well so it’s only a $22,000 mower. It’s also a $22,000 loader tractor. And it’ll run my wet bin auger with its handy dandy 540pto so now it’s a $14,666 auger tractor, $14,666 lawnmower and $14,666 loader tractor.

But wait !! There’s more !!

It’s got a hitch and rear hydraulics so I can use it to rake hay. That’s right, now I’m down to $11,000 per activity. I’d rather have one tractor to do it all than four tractors to maintain. It makes more sense. See, they almost paid me to buy it once you factor in the 0% interest.

At least that’s how I plan to justify it to Mama Bear when she eventually figures out our bank account is a bit lighter and Midwest Machinery took our money yet again !!

My equipment mover was getting a little droopy in it's old age .....

I was today years old when I realized it wasn’t old age that caused the old equipment mover to bend …… it likely was how it was being used ….

It’s cold out and things don’t like to start so I push them into the shop to warm up. It works great !!

You forgot tax deductible. You may have actually came home with more money in your pocket!
It’ll get put on the deprecate for 5yrs so the payments are all deductible. Quite nice how that works. It’s not quite free but it saves a chunk in taxes vs keeping the cash around. Plus, it’s a lot harder to cut grass with a stack of cash.

Drive into chicken building, cost/chick? :)
Yasaywhat?

I see the cupholder on the 5510!

Please tell me you got a new cupholder and hat thrown in on the deal :)
The FSS v0.2 is on the 5510. It is honestly probably one of the most used ones as it’s on a giant magnet. It goes on everything and works great !!

I gotta message him !!!!!

Make sure you get the "Owner Edition" hat.
I asked what I needed to do to get the Gold Key hat and got giggled at. Apparently a 2-series isn’t big enough yet to warrant a trip to Georgia to drive it off the line.

I did get a jacket with the last 4th drive purchase and it’s a nice one so that was neat !!

I'm still waiting for the chick stencils painted on the wall in the chicken barn.

Martin
I forgot all about that !! Going to order a badass looking stencil right now.

Wood pile is disappearing!! Probably between 1/3 - 1/2 used up for sure. So 8-12 cord gobbled down so far. Darn mild temps in the current and extended forecast so it’ll mostly just idle along which is great !!
IMG_0491.jpeg

On Saturday we hosted a Customer Appreciation event for our seed corn clients and I was absolutely shocked at how many people came through. Over 100 people came and went and we counted over 80% of our customers here at one point or another.
IMG_0509.png

Once the party stuff was cleaned up I brought my little red wagon in the shop to put a rear hitch on it. The plan is to be able to pull the skid loader trailer and skiddy behind it so we can make less trips to the woods to bring wood home. Plus a neighbor has a gravel pit and I can bring trailer and skiddy on one shot to load dirt so that’ll be nice.
IMG_0520.jpeg

Mocked up ….
IMG_0517.jpeg

I won’t ever be dumping it with a trailer hooked up anyway so this is plenty of clearance !!
IMG_0518.jpeg

I’ll be putting a piece of 3/8”x3” angle iron in between the frame rails to solid things up. I think it’ll be plenty stout !!

I generally figure if I have half my wood left on MLK Day, I'm all set for the rest of the heating season. Looks to me like you are in great shape!
I look at it the same lol. I think I have nearish 20 cord stashed around the property for next year and could dip into it if needed. With 10 day forecast highs above freezing and 52f tomorrow it’ll last quite a while yet !!

I'd be sealing it up somehow. Otherwise dirt and moisture will get in there and start to rust which will make getting that receiver in and out a bit troublesome.
Ok ok ok I’ll weld it all shut lol

My thoughts exactly, seal it up and prevent any possibility of side effects from rust-jacking
Rust ? Here !? Nooooooooooo 😂

Any reason you didn't just go with the smaller tubing?

You'll be getting water in through the pin hole so make sure you've got a way to get it out.

Looks great!
I walked over to my iron pile with the receiver hitch in hand, and went searching for stuff that would work. I wanted to put a ring around the end of the 2” tube to give it some extra strength where the receiver hitch gets pushed into and found that 8 inch long chunk of 3” tubing and thought it would work just fine. Things snowballed from there and now older Mike gets to do a bunch of welding and head scratching :lol_hitti

Weldered the end up as I could see that adding some strength. As far as sealing it “completely” that’ll never actually happen and Mother Nature will still find a way in. The 2” tube in the center is open all the way to the front so I can ram jam something in there to clean it out as needed. Time for paint !!

A true farmer, when he can't find a pin, uses a screwdriver :D
Well I was going to post a pic tomorrow with a rusty wooden handled screwdriver stuck in there but now I don’t have to lol. That screwdriver has pulled countless hay racks and other stuff around the yard behind the Farmall H and you’d never know it by looking at it :lol_hitti

Well. ****.
IMG_0555.jpeg

Lots of it!! Pops and I cleaned the entire barn today before lunch. Never did that before !!
IMG_0554.jpeg

This little red wagon really speeds things up. We take 2-1/2 loads out of the big pens with it and have taken up to 6 with the smaller wagon. I think we took out 11 loads today and normally it’d be closer to 25. That’s a lot of time not spent dumping !!
IMG_0557.jpeg

Sure glad I had them build the Poo Palace with 18’ sidewalls !!
IMG_0559.jpeg

Oh the ribeyes look so happy to have a nice clean pen again :deathmeta

Also speeds up having a nice bobcat with a large bucket, large Lots and high ceilings that you can get after it versus tractor front end loader that will barely fit in the alley and you have to back out for every bucket. Tbones still grill up :p
Lots of thought and even a little bit of forward planning went into building design and layout around here. Lots of things happened to work out by dumb luck as well though :lol_hitti

The little dude wanted to cut firewood with me so out we went. He wanted a handsaw and I could not locate my tree saw so he got a nice Irwin wood saw lol
IMG_0564.jpeg

Didn’t take long and he wanted to run the saw. I told him if he could hold it up there I’d let it idle at least. I held it with him and cut a bit and his eyes got HUGE lol. Third generation on that ‘ol beast. Pops purchased that 041 new.

That little dude is young! I started chainsawing at age 12, but I imagine you started a little younger.
That’s Leo. He’s a spunky 6-1/2yrs young and can do a ton of stuff already for someone his height. He’s a ways off from chainsawing on his own though lol

I’d say in that 12-13 area for the first time I ran a saw on my own would be about right.
