I’m shocked. Probably a good decision though. They are heavy. 4c got me today with the Walden three-quarter inch ratchet on an eBay listing.

3/4 and 1" stuff is very heavy. I have a "set" of 3/4 (mix and match) and then a bunch of "extras" in both 3/4" and 1" 4 ratchets, 3 are Plvmb, (two 1" , one 3/4 but in a 1" frame - different plug) and those are 12 LB each... the then a P&C 3/4 that was my dads (in the set), and its much lighter (but still heavy) that 3/4 "set" weighs about 50 lbs...

Thanks for the offer but I’m not really going after 3/4” drive tools. If I see them in the wild at the right price, it’s hard to leave them behind. 😳 I didn’t even know that my recent find was Plomb until it came out if the evaporust. Are you looking for any Proto Mfd. tools? I have a drawer full of spares I could trade for that dual marked wrench.

Far exceeds the weight capacity of the old friction slide drawer, but I don’t open it often. Almost never used on giant nuts, but occasionally instead of a 1/2 inch breaker bar. I’m getting weaker and appreciate long handles. I have no idea what the attraction is, and now I have a Walden coming.

Probably my best find from yesterday - Plvmb 4767 Stubby 1/4" driver. Not perfect, some pliers marks As found the paint should come off with SG. But not disintegrating either!:

I have a couple other Plvmb from Yesterday, Pics pending.
Very nice find! I’m trying to find one that isn’t an arm and a leg

The top 3 wrenches were purchased as a group and size wise match GMTK equipment but their date stamps seem to be 6 and 7.

Alongside are two WF wrenches which understandably never needed dating.

It comes as no surprise to me that there is usually a variation to be discovered by bringing home more tools.

YMMV

If I had to make a gun-to-my-head kind of guess, based on the date of manufacture (1939), maybe foreign sales to UK, which was already at war and ahead of us in restricting precious metals (hence the ALLOY) and plating (hence the gun blue finish). Way too early for Lend-Lease, and even a little too early for Cash-and-Carry. Or some other customer with coincidentally similar requirements. Very intriguing. Especially the ALLOY STEEL marking. That's generally associated with "New Emergency" triple alloys, but they weren't invented until late 1941 and early 1942. It's too bad someone lopped off the 1-1/4" jaws end and made it a SOE, but still, a very cool wrench.

Jan of 23 I posted about my Paschall Can opener find and Ebay scores. A while back I found something else connected to them. A Copper Print Block! So, somewhere out there is a print add for the can openers! I wonder if the adds mention Plomb at any point. I have watched for Plomb plates but none have showed up in the last 6 months : (

Picked up these Plomb bits recently. The first grouping is a Wright Field (WF) 9/32" drive lot: WF-5 extension, WF-8 ratchet, WF-10, WF-12, WF-13, WF-14 (2), WF-15 (2), and a WF-7 hinge handle/breaker bar.

I was thinking a bit about the WF tools. Does anyone know how the USAAC/USAAF distributed them? Were they in a set (I'm imagining the 1940s equivalent of a blow molded pelican case with foam cut-outs) or parceled out onesy-twosy in GMTK fashion?

The second lot is a 1936 (date code 6C) 21/32" 1/2" drive socket. The screwdriver bits are 9/32" drive 4845 (stamped size 2 - 9/32) and 4846 (stamped size 3 - 3/8).
