That is sweet
I’m liking the NAF toolbox! Now you need some Plomb NAF tools for it. I think it was made by Kennedy.Man thats a cool Plomb 4 way! different than mine! Now I must find one of those! yours looks like the blackhawk I have.
Heres a start some new Plomb additions
2404 long punch set I was happy to win!
Another weed puller in a little rougher shape than the last one
old 1/4 ratchet a guy had saved a month just for me!
Pebble DBE
Set of Crowsfeet
small DOE
my very firsrt in the wild 1 dollar paschall hammer!
Also got a rubber mallet of the bay in great shape!
USN NAF box also! A bit crusty
Is it marked Plomb?! Or are you posting it by association (with Plomb being one of many NAF suppliers...)?USN NAF box also! A bit crusty
If you post a photo of it open, Rags, we would be able to confirm that, or identify it as the other major maker - Simonsen. EDIT: Disregard - I see it in the Garage Sale thread. It's a Kennedy for sure.I think it was made by Kennedy.
All I ever see is water slip decals on Plomb boxes.
As far as physical examples go, ditto, and I think that's going to be the universal answer. The only thing I would add is that's also what the images in the catalogs indicate....all I can remember seeing pictures of are decals on Plomb boxes.
That's a rare ratchet. Some nice looking Plombs there.Man thats a cool Plomb 4 way! different than mine! Now I must find one of those! yours looks like the blackhawk I have.

The box had many applications during the war, Rags. Yours, with that NAF stock number marking, is not an armorer's box. Most probably used by mechanics belonging to US Navy Aviation ground crews.I read on a googled post it was an armourers box. Not sure if thats correct or not . May end up putti g my grand fsthers ww2 stuff in it! He was a SeaBee in the Philippines for 4 years
That box is in amazing shape. You did well.I don't remember what I paid for this, but it was about $8? The tools were coated with rust that could be scraped with a thumbnail. It seems that the tools rust inside the box, I am doing testing ATM with some nails, so I keep them out of it. Only missing a couple of sockets from what I could tell. The extension and phillips are proto LA.

Perhaps a vapor capsule rust inhibitor will help if you plan to keep tools in it.I don't remember what I paid for this, but it was about $8? Thanks yall and yes Lugz I posted it becasuse I have some Plomb NAF tooks to love in it once I get it redone. It needs a lot of love. I read on a googled post it was an armourers box. . It has a step down to 1/4 in the center, so it clearly went to a 1/4 ratchet somehow, but I hadn’t seen one. Plomb put a screw in it for a reason.
To go along with Rags’ 1/4” ratchet, a couple drive plugs. These came in a Plomb parts kit.
Wait. You have a Plomb parts kit!?To go along with Rags’ 1/4” ratchet, a couple drive plugs. These came in a Plomb parts kit.

The 1/4 plug would go into a female ratchet like normal.
And the 9/32? Well, at first I stared at the 9/32 trying to figure out how it would be used. Sure won’t pop in a 1/4 ratchet. I was like. It has a step down to 1/4 in the center, so it clearly went to a 1/4 ratchet somehow, but I hadn’t seen one. Plomb put a screw in it for a reason.

It didn’t look like the screw came out, the square and washer looked like one solid piece that had never been taken apart. I carefully clamped it in a vise and applied some pressure on the ol’ screwdriver, and much to my surprise [emoji106]

Complete with gears.

Jaw, meet floor. Haha. I remember that haul! Recently. Earlier this year or late last, right, 3eeb? There were on the order of a hundred rats, too. Smalls. Misc brands.Wait. You have a Plomb parts kit!?

I realized it was the Proto kit I was thinking of when Unaiu posted the link. If there is a parts kit labeled Pendleton Tool Industries Inc out there, you will probably find that too.The parts kit is newly acquired.
I will be waiting... Impatiently[emoji1].I like the look of their plain steel rats.
The parts kit is newly aquired. I'll post some pics when I can.
3Bay: sorry I thought you bought that parts kit a while back.
ALL: i'm just getting up to speed again in my tools memory, but didn't somebody else find a new old stock parts kit or maybe there have been a few? I think I recall Lug finding a box of new parts, but not sure that was Plvmb.
anyway it's good to be thinking about tools again instead of moving my shop.
cheers

Punches, and a look in all three boxes.
So I was in my local Habitat store and stumbled upon a junky pile in the tool section with a few small metal boxes. The larger blue one formerly contained a cheap socket collection, was priced at $0.10, worth it despite the thin metal.

But it was next to a smaller heavy green boxed priced at $7.00. Intrigued, I opened it and found the SK Wayne label dating it to sometime after 1962.
But the smaller box inside was what really caught my eye:
