Here is a catalog listing. How long are your new side cutters?

Forgot to get a pic earlier but they're No. 207.

Nice. "Name-Nurl" handles are not that common in my experience. I think I've found two in 12 years.
Was surprised to find them, didn't see them because I was looking at some oddities (posted on garage sale thread) and wanted to get the box they were in and a few other pieces before the crowd swarmed. Haven't seen any other plomb at all since last year I think(only found a ratchet, DBE wrench, and a universal socket in a lot then) and only other pebble I've found was a proto flare nut wrench I got this year.

Another Plomb tool arrived in the mail yesterday. I’ve been looking for one of these for quite a while and they aren’t easy to find with the 1” wide cut. I wish that it would have been in better condition but I will dress it up and sharpen it.49D403B9-FE76-4393-85F0-94EB6984F50D.jpeg9D691501-E962-4999-A12D-AE33E8123236.jpeg83AA9B46-FA01-4C15-BD53-48DAA1C8A94B.jpeg1CDEF553-81AD-46AF-84FA-9C81AF0C4A45.jpegD2E71C8D-8C44-43DF-93B2-B59F16F818D1.jpeg6170BC1B-B8B4-4CC7-8C3E-FAA46D341D9C.pngF55F99FB-7D05-429E-8DDC-AFB3146CB8A2.jpegA41A1856-BE33-4AD4-89E3-8986E81D020B.jpeg

Safety first! No eyes were put out during the repair of this chisel 544E6F74-471C-4B36-BE48-5035A860C36A.jpeg
Nice save! I have had to do that to more than a few plomb chisels when I find them including some big boys like that

Back in 2017 I found a box full of miscellaneous Plomb chisels and punches at a Nevada yard sale. They were all well used and required plenty of grinding and straightening. I have passed along most of the duplicates.

This chrome plated 1/2” drive drag link bit arrived today after bouncing around most of the western states for a few weeks courtesy of the USPS. At least it finally turned up unlike some of my other recent packages.

Don, what was the overall length of that when you were done? Originally was 9" ?

@d42jeep -

I had a splitting wedge that I mushroomed out like that chisel you picked up the other day.
Thought it would be interesting to see just how far I could push it.
Was all fun and games until a chunk of it broke loose and went flying over into the next-door neighbor's yard.
I watched the trajectory as it flew over the fence. Fortunately he'd just mowed his lawn so it was pretty easy to find the grape-sized piece of steel that I sent flying.

It got a short ride to the scrap-metal box.

Haven't really been on much, the Plomb harvesting has been a bit slow for awhile.
I did pick this up today at the Long Beach Hi-Po swap meet, got it for $50, including all the bits inside.
In the catalog it's listed as set 3200-D.

That is a great ignition wrench roll. I would love to have one for my Plomb based GMTK.
Here are my two most recent NAF marked 1/2” drive deep sockets together.

A co-worker almost lost an eye (major damage, but saved) when a chunk flew off a Morse drill drift. He had put his safety glasses down to take a lunch break, then had an impulse to knock the drill out of the sleeve as he walked past it. Bad decision!

A couple of new to me pieces...

Can anyone shed light on the x56? It's dated Jan of 1930 and the only catalog reference I'm finding is in the "canceled" section at the beginning of catalog No. 11 (1932)

Thanks in advance, and best regards,

Looks like you have just about all the necessary info...replaced by the 3020 that same year (32) you mention the "cancelled" bit. The 29 cat. has a stylized 22 1/2 degree DOE 056 with the same size jaws utilizing the jaw size expressed in 16ths as the tool # ie. 5/16 & 6/16 (3/8). It's interesting and a bit confusing that in the 29 cat. they also have a 56 DOE as well as other additional sizes that do not use that system. Excellent find.

What him say!

One showed up here a few years ago if I recall, a bigger size, but I don't recall seeing any others. Oddly, there was no X89 (1/2 x 9/16) predating the 3026. I guess they felt those openings were covered by the X78 and the X910, why be redundant.

Check out the 29 cat it looks what would have been their 89 in the previous style (22 1/2 deg) to the X wrenches was called a 58?

Thanks. I don't have access to a 1929 cat. I have a 1928, which doesn't include them, and a 1932. Using the 1932, I was comparing the X series list in the CANCELLED price list to the 30XX series list later in the same catalog. X58? Kinda breaks the pattern they set from X56 to X1920, where I would expect the 1/2 x 9/16 to be X89 between X78 and X910, but hey, it's their company and their model numbers. :)

BTW, a big "doh!" to me saying the other one that showed up here was a bigger wrench when the X56 was the smallest, but I found it. The hard way. By searching the thread on X followed by every possible wrench and struck gold with X1516.

Going right for the gusto, this No. 9714 is the first piece I am posting out of my flea haul this morning. Jock (@Provincial) and @btrnuthatch have posted them before, maybe others who haven't put the model number in their post (thereby evading the search engine). It's a whopper. The largest Plomb made. I am VERY please with the condition. More pics attached, too.

Not sure if I have one of those or not Lugx, Of the ones I found quickly, I found a 16"er (9710?) I need to find where I hid the rest in one of the reshuffles...

Not to sully these pages, but I do have a Bridgeport:

Nice find on the 9714 Lugz. They are very substantial drivers. Here is a couple pics of a pair of 9714's with the long 9744 Plomb driver and a few others from my big driver drawer. The 9744 is too long for the drawer and won't fit in with the others so it gets stored vertically on the side. Ed.

For sure over exuberance or, just the PO's idea of placing his mark with that extra touch of color on the handle. I'm mostly happy just to find Plomb woodys that aren't split and still have striking caps.

I have one that’s unmarked! Anytime I can find a straight plomb flat tip that’s not destroyed by a caveman it comes home with me.

I received these deep sockets in the mail yesterday. They helped to fill out my 1/2” deep socket selection. I’m always looking for certain wartime finish sockets but it’s not always easy to tell from pictures.

Nice find! I know what you mean about looking for very certain finishes and how difficult it can be to discern from a photo

On the off chance that you don't already know, or you're one of those GJ'ers who goes directly and exclusively to the threads in your Watched list, and you never just peruse the main Vintage Board for new threads, here are some teasers of what you're missing!

Who can tell me what these unnumbered Plumb items are applicable to?

Size is 1/2” DIA x 2” long

I cannot recall when and where I got these, the stains on them may be from being unrolled from rust preventative paper the military liked to use. TIA422F659D-E98B-4365-A451-ECC2B3348D39.jpeg

I was able to purchase a lot of Plomb wrenches recently off of the FB group for $40. I really only needed 3 for my Post-War Veteran Set, those being the 3021 DOE, the 1125 DBE, but the best being a MINT 1212 pebble combo. A little paint, but it will come off easy. I've been looking for the 1212 pebble for a while, and have missed the only 2 to come up this year. Neither were mint like this one though.
