There are a couple of other new old stock sets posted on there right now if anyone is looking for some nos stuff. I need this set for my mfd era metric board but think I will hold off. Anyone have any metric mfd wrenches for sale?

Picked the punch roll and pliers up from bmw as a gift. Very nice of him! Also found this 1/2 drive 7/8 socket at a flea type event today!

or Lugz describing something as "rad"!!
Snerk. Yeah, I guess I'm a decade too late for that word in that context. It's funny, we often remark on old photos or ads showing mechanics in the Brass era wearing fedoras and even later well into the 40s with white shirts and ties under coveralls or some sort of service garage uniform jacket, but imagine even 1950 doing a tune-up wearing argyle socks. Dude is spiffed up. :)

Yes he is. I guess the photo is trying to convey that it is so easy to use Proto tools that you can break this stuff out and do a quick tune up or whatever right before leaving to go to the sock hop on a date!

And you don’t have to be an ignorant greaseball knuckle-dragger to work on your car…🤣

It actually wasn’t from Proto. It was on the cover of something put out by Hot Rod magazine. I just can’t remember what it was. I think it was some sort of technical manual or something. I can’t remember the year either. I spent about an hour researching today to try figure out what it with but no luck.

And yeah, those socks are rad!

All my searching was not in vain, however. During my search for the source of that picture, I discovered this program from 1967 where if you sold Hot Rod subscriptions you could earn points that could be redeemed for Proto tools. How cool is that?!

Is that a date stamp of ‘47?
If you're talking about your own vixen file, no. Looks like there's a "2" to the right of the "47", for "472". I have no idea what that number is. 1947 is too early for PROTO, anyway. Tools were dual-marked (Proto / Plomb) during the Proto Tools by Plomb Tool Co blitz in 1949. Just Proto in 1950.

I found this Proto mfd era body filler spoon on the bay and had to have it! Not a common find. I wish it was la era to go with my la era body tools board but such is life 😂

I have also been making some progress on my metric board thanks to a trade with a local member! I still need more however. This board is mfd era but is a mixture of la era and metric since it is so dang hard to find this stuff. Plus a few pictures of my metric doe roll even though I have posted this here before

This arrived today in the mail. It sure does puzzle me.! Black oxide finish, very rough machining 1/2" female drive Proto MFD ih 5449. I haven't opened it up yet. I've never seen one of these with the smooth grip and no knurling.
Its a very cool, puzzling piece!
