Quickjack setup and question

Hi all,

I recently picked up a Quickjack 5000 from a local, plan to use it with my track/autox Miata. I've used it a couple times now to test it and it works great. To make it even more useful and fast I'd love to be able to keep it on the floor and just drive over and leave it under the car when parked. Issue is the car is pretty low and even at the 3" height, the Quickjack will make contact to the frame rails or chassis brace. Sliding it under the pinch welds from the outside is no problem.

So my first though was running 2 rows of garage flooring, ie Racedeck, so I can gain a little height then pull the Quickjacks onto the Racedeck between the tires. Racedeck looks only to be about .5" tall so not sure if it will be enough but I don't need much height. I've seen other tiles are taller.

Any suggestions for raising the car a bit to be able to drive over the Quickjack?

Hey,

I've contributed several threads on different lifts and I also have the QuickJack that I use mainly at the race track. You can see that thread here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253824

But I also had a midrise lift years ago and I built ramps to park the car on to clear the lift. See the ramps here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67229

I'm thinking you could do similar, but maybe even have a cover over the QuickJack and you could drive right over it, then slide off the cover to begin jacking. Hope that makes sense.

My Healey only has 3" clearance and I am able to drive over the QJ as long as I remove the rubber blocks from the lift towers. I marked the floor where the jacks will be positioned and the tire center marks to line up each time. I do have the front jack placed under the motor mount as the engine weight is about 700 lbs so the car is weight forward.

+1 on removing the rubber blocks. I leave my QJ on the floor and drive my 914 over it which clears no problem as long as the rubber blocks are not on the jack. Same issue with the race car.

just use some 3/4 plywood stack 2 will get you a little under 1.5" height to drive up on.
