Re: Rick's Audi Double
I have been meaning to ask for a long time and I keep absentmindedly forgetting, but how are the free flow tiles on bare feet? I love the look and the functionality, and I would kick myself pretty hard if I pulled the trigger on this floor only to despise walking on it.
I have no issue walking on the Free Flow with shoes, socks, or bare feet. But, that's me. Compared to walking on a bare concrete surface, there's no comparison. I must admit, I rarely spend time in the garage with bare feet, but when I'm doing an interior detail, I wear socks and it is sublime.
Rick are you aware of this website? They are using your garage for all their pictures...

Yeah, that seller and I have worked out a little deal. He certainly likes that one photo I took, that's for sure. Thanks for the heads up, but it's all good.
Rick,
I've been following this thread and recently your YouTube channel. To sum it up, your garage is 110% squared away and you should be very proud. Obviously, a lot of time and thought have gone into that space. Also, the Audi is awesome. As someone aspring for a similar space of my own, I admire what you've done.
Quick question, how do you handle drainage in your garage?
Thanks and take care,
George
Thanks for the kind words regarding the garage and car, George. There is no drainage system in my garage per se (my biggest regret in life), so when I do use water in the space, I remove a few of the front edge pieces of my RaceDeck floor and allow gravity, the heat from my infrared heater (in colder weather) and the pitch of the floor to direct the water out the car door. That said, I do take steps to ensure no soaps or chemicals escape. The front edge pieces of my RaceDeck floor act as a barrier/dam so when I have soap on the floor, I capture that water with my wet vac as it pools against the edge pieces. It's not a glamorous task, but it's my way of dealing with it. That said, I don't perform many soapy washes in the garage. I usually take care of my dirty business down at the neighbourhood coin-op and then attend to the finer details once I'm at home. At some point, I will have to photo document the process, but man do I wish I would have just installed a drain when we built the place.
Sidenote: there is talk that the City of Calgary has outlawed garage drains because they suspect people are releasing harmful liquids down them. At this point, I'm not sure if existing drains will continue to be permitted or they will want owners with them to install a separator system.
