Interesting outlet box. Don't think I have ever seen one of those. Did it come off a commercial project?
I bought about a dozen of them from Boeing Surplus down in Kent. Back in the day.

Still have 3 or 4 of em.

I believe they were used on workbenches.

I’ve seen them called pedestal or something similar. I want one for my home bar, place to plug in the blender.

So many fails tonight. 🫣

First, Johnny Tool called it on the bristles VS bit.

2nd was dust collectors aren’t meant for bristles. They clog things up nicely.

3rd was the breaker/reset on the ceiling mounted cord reel isn’t enough to run the router.

4th, I’m thinking the 2.5” DC hose isn’t enough.
Need to add a second pickup location, or go to 4”. Both have issues.

5th, I’m really not in the mood to clean up the dust storm my fails made for me tonight.

The only upside is the test slab turned out fine and wonderful.

And, have you ever seen chips that big come off a router before?

Turbine powered dust collector.

A single 2" hose in the vicinity should pickup all the chips. And errant tools. YMMV

Man, I want to see some slices off that fella!
Me too.

Apple is hard to cut/dry without defects.
Prone to cupping, warping, and splits.

This weekend I’ll get the ends sealed, and sort out a game plan for cutting.

Then I need to smear the kiln out, it has a place to go as it comes off the mill.

Wood turners bury the apple chunks in sawdust for a year so they dry out evenly for turning live edge bowls. Slabs definitely have to have the ends sealed.
Good luck with these, looks like it was a lot of work procuring them.

But apple makes such great saw handles. Never seen stuff done too much bigger than that lately.

Not much work on my part. I mainly sat on the mini forklift, and watched them.👍

My work started when I got them home.

No mini forklift there☹️

I started cutting with the ugliest branch. The one with center rot. A bit of waste, but still got some usable material.

Tomorrow is supposed to be dry. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to mill the other two branches.

All 3 branches are bigger than most apple tree trunks. And, they are F’n heavy 😵‍💫

Wow, those slabs are beautiful!👍
Thanks, I think so.

It’s interesting to see the darker areas tend to be a lot more prone to rot and bugs. The lighter wood seems to have stayed intact far better.

Hoping the other branches, and the main trunk, aren’t affected as much.

All of the rot started from a few branches getting trimmed, and no sealer.

Some sealer may have prevented all the loss of integrity, which was one of the main reasons the tree came down.

That, and the owner was tired of cleaning up apples 😜

Looks great. We milled some a couple of years ago, my son made a table and a vanity top with a few pieces. The boards tend to twist a lot as you mentioned and it does darken over time. I have a stupmp siting in Thanks Glenn Murch garage for a couple of years now, I may try and resaw it in the spring

Had to quit milling the Apple to go chase a floater. I didn’t even have to choker it, as the current was moving it towards the ramp. I just used the kayak to steer it. Easy as it gets.

About a 60’ Douglas Fir. Had to trim some rot off both ends. Should net about 700 board feet!

Put "apple wood" as your search criteria, quotes are important. Then you may get a reduced list of those who get a woodie on talking about the product.

Then add whatever words after that, you may miss a few good ones tho.

Too dang wet, cold, and dark to play outside today. I’d rather mill in the snow, than this ****!

Spending my day cleaning the garage.

Came up with this little gauge to set the bandsaw blade height. Not as cool as a DRO, but it suits my needs fine.

After a month long wait, my sawmill arrived today!
A couple years ago I started considering buying a mill. I started to research the different re brands, pouring over reviews, and narrowed in on the Woodland Mills HM126 Woodlander.

I know there are other machines out there, but this make/model fit my price point, capacities, and the fact that it has the integrated trailer lead me to go with WM.

Now starts the long “Some assembly required “ phase.
Good thing I grew up on legos, erector sets, and Lincoln

Woodland mills is a great brand. I’m setting up my range road today and tomorrow. I went with them for the service I was getting and have been getting. Also price was about 600 less than woodland. Where you located.

I keep hearing about WM’s customer service, but haven’t had the need for any. Glad to know it’ll be there when I need it!

Yeah, that sure cuts into play time!
Last night's news was showing the surf in your area and I thought maybe the Sound would cough up some logs....
2" of sloppy snow here (Toledo) today.
