Craftsman (COO=china) 12 piece, 1/2" deep impact socket sets. 50% off
(Lifetime warranty)

Fractional:
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-12-p...p-00915886000P?prdNo=7&blockNo=7&blockType=G7

Metric:

The 4th of July paper ad in today's mail lists the store price as 50% off of $99.99 while the online price is 50% off of $89.99. The walk-in store matched the online price for me a couple of weeks ago.

I bought one of each set, just because the price was right. They've done pretty well so far, unlike the lame-*** HF sockets that deformed on the first use and had to be returned.

I got one. Not online but my local store has on sale for about $20 the older 5 piece Western Forge made in USA wood chisel set. It is like this here:

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-5-pc-wood-chisel-set/p-00936859000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

With points, I got a set for $15. Not bad at all. These are now China COO for new stock, so I would pick up a set if you can. Shoot, even at full price if you can. - Paul

3 old stock at Union Gap WA. Just a heads up for those looking in this area (1 China, 3 US).

I have the $15 roller stand. It is very cheaply made and falls down easily when sliding a board across it horizontally as when positioning and supporting a board for cutting on a miter saw. The foot also is held in place by an odd arrangement of a bolt with a round tubular nut that clamps against the foot against the vertical upright. The nut loosens easily and the foot doesn't stay on which makes the stand fall down.

I don't recommend the roller stand.

I think I paid even less for the Harbor Freight version and have zero complaints about it. I just use it as a miter saw extension and occasionally a table saw out feed extension.

I have that roller stand and have used it a lot. I have not had any problems with it at all. I paid $19.95 at local store. YMMV

Ditto, no user problems with the roller stand for the past 5 years. Buy it smart, use up the points given, and put it to work

for those of you who live near Tacoma, Sears Federal Way has Dewalt DCD 790 D2 kit for 145 dollars, normal price for this kit is 199-219, its not posted anywhere and I believe its just that store, I was there couple of days ago and they had four left. I snagged one for 120 with coupons and SYW points.

Our local store has the 334 piece Mechanics Tool set on sale for $199 (normally $399)

Also, the 75-piece tap & die set was 50% off. $100 (normally $219 I believe)

Does anybody have any experience with these chisels? A lot of the reviews are less than reassuring. I'm sure they're a better value at the sale price, but I'd like to know that they're actually good chisels. Don't mind touching them up but I hope they'll hold a good edge.

image.jpg Not sure if this was the best place to post this but it seemed appropriate. During the last CM Club Days event I bought a U.S. made (by Waterloo) top chest for $99.99 reg. $149.99 and received $20 in points as well. Logged on to shop tonight and had an extra $10 in surprise points. Sears isn't what it once was but there's still good deals and good tools to be found!

Hi Jeff, yes, I do! That is why I recommended them. They will need to be sharpened as they are made/sold dull like many sharp tools are. They are Western Forge, very good stuff. Fine for DIY or entry level/mid level woodworking. I'm a woodworker for the last 35 years or so... You can do better of course in quality, but expect to pay about $100 for a set like that. These are fine for 95% of the population. - Paul

Hey Paul,
thanks for the reply. I believe my local Sears has the 5 piece set on sale for under $20. I saw them a couple days ago when I was there and Im pretty sure they are WF. I'll go see if I can get a set.

I have the WF set and like them. Be wary though, the only WF ones left are NOS. Sears has replaced them with an imported five piece set (same part number I believe... but very different tools). I ordered a few sets online for my kids, to pick up in store. Online still show the WF versions, but of course when I picked up they were much different tools (& therefore returned immediately).

Don, you're right! I knew I had seen the USA set at my local store, so I ordered 2 sets online at the sale price. I went to pick them up and they brought me out 2 made in China sets. Luckiky, I had already walked through the tool department and saw that they had 2 USA sets on the wall.

I told the guy I didn't want the Chinese sets and that I knew they had USA sets which were what was in the website. He told me to go grab the two USA sets and he did an exchange for me.

I wonder how much longer Western Forge has on their screwdriver and pliers contract. Probably just a matter of time before we start seeing Chinese screwdrivers, pliers and pry bars.

Yes, I would go in store directly to see if they have the US ones on clearance and buy there. In store is same price as on line. They will apply any points you have at the checkout if you tell them to, just like online. I wouldn't just buy it online and expect US. Have to do that directly on these and most other US NOS phase out items like this. - Paul

Are those nailers any good? I don't have a framing nailer and have failed to find any of the super discounted nailers at Home Depot from the clearance thread.

I prefer 21 degree round head nails, so that would knock it out for me.

I have a Grizzly 18ga. finish nailer, it's decent. I'm not sure if this set is a good price or not but I can tell you that I haven't had any issues with my nailer. I use it occasionally, so not heavy use. I also have the 3pc set of Husky from HD that I bought on clearance for $60. I like the 18ga. grizzly better since it will shoot much longer (2 - 2 1/2") vs. the 1 1/4" than the Husky model shoots.

I ordered the new Freeman 15 degree coiled nailer that shoots 2.5 inch nails. It is on sale for 140. I am now wanting to order the new Freeman combo set with Framing angled finishing and 2 other nails for 179? All great reviews. Any experience with these?
