Sort of OT, but we had one here, It was handy too, Close,
and I could opt to pick up at store from that one.
Sadly, it closed up. Actually, it didn't last too long at all.
I don't know if all the hometown's are like this one, (probably) but they just sold TV's, tools, lawn mowers, washer & dryers, stuff like that.
As far as I know, no pots and pans, no shoes for sure, no clothes.

So they just sent me an email for $13 off $45 "surprise points." I have $6.50 in my SYW account I should be able to use also....but I'm having a hard time finding anything I want right now LOL

They keep giving me surprise points, but like you, I've pretty much run out of stuff that I want from Sears. With a few exceptions, most of the Craftsman stuff that I've purchased lately had been compete ****. This stuff is worse than Harbor Frieght.

Search for Wera and Grip-on. A few nice options.

Thanks. Knipex is never a bad option. I was considering the 10" Plier Wrench at $48. I could get it about $19.50 less than that. Still I'm not sure I'd ever use it.

I'll take a look at Wera stuff

If you ever use a wrench, I can't see how you wouldn't find a pliers wrench useful.

I don't have one, but I sure do want one. They seem particularly well-suited to working with brass fittings, where you may have a lot of different sizes in a small space. I often resort to a crescent wrench for this (and keep pressure on the thumb wheel), but a pliers wrench would be gentler on the brass, AND faster, because you can relax your grip to "ratchet" around, vs withdrawing and re-seating a wrench.

Nothing like a good mattocks, some parts they call them a grub hoe - I picked up 3 of them last time they were like $15 to get free shipping,, they shipped me 3 mattocks an craftsman axe,, chinese but seem decent quality,, first thing I did is spray em down with some used motor oil to seal up the iron

I'm sure it's just your regular big box store chinese made axe, nothing special about it...

My pick came in today, I laughed as it arrived in a HUGE box, filled with Styrofoam peanuts, and the point still busted out through the side of the box. That had to cost more to ship than what I paid. The metal is pretty cheap and I can see cracks in the forging. But if it breaks I guess Sears will warranty it? lol... I'll take a picture of the pick later, it's in my garage and I don't feel like putting on my shoes right now.

I agree completely. I was under the kitchen sink just days ago doing exactly this kind of work. The work goes a lot easier when you don't have to constantly be changing the wrench you are using, and the pseudo-ratcheting action makes for much quicker, less tedious work in tight spaces.

I also have a set of Craftsman USA (Western Forge?) adjustable wrenches. I think these have become redundant since purchasing a couple pliers wrenches.

Looks like they dropped the Craftsman Extreme Grip 14-Pc. Diamond Tip Screwdriver Set down to $34.99 with $17.84 back in points.

If you have a $X off $40 coupon, or surprise points you can get the CMan 8 Function Digital Multimeter for $9.99 right now, looks decent enough to throw in a work bag. Also the 4pc Wobble Extension Bar Set 3/8 Inch Drive is at $9.99 too...

I really like these screwdrivers. Before using them I thought they were just some sort of gimmick, but they really do grip noticeably better than regular ones. The larger handle are also more comfortable too. I don't know how long the tips will last, but they do have a lifetime warranty.

I got one of those for free with points for Home/garden, and it looks the same. Absolute junk! I bet it will only last a few hits against a hidden rock in the dirt.

I was thinking about picking up those screwdrivers as well. I'm trying to slowly start filling out my tools, trying not to buy junk i have to replace later but I don't need top of the line either.

I picked one up for <$15 (before points & Q) last year when they forgot to take the sale tag down. Not the greatest made, but it helped me out a ton prying some big rocks out of the ground. Worth every penny for that job alone. :bowdown:

I also have the smaller rapid digger, which is also a blessing when you need a tool like that.

The screwdrivers are very nice i got a set about 4 months back and was surprised. They really do grip the screw a ot better than i thought they would. I was expecting more gimmick than grip but it was the opposite.

Had points that were expiring today just got the wobble extensions for free. :bounce:Free is allways good in my book and with the craftsman deal and stanley Sears might be around a little longer.

I bought that meter as a backup in van or an extra when needed. Surprisingly good for $10. I was actually impressed on how fast it gives a reading

I grabbed one too right before christmas as a spare. I was impressed also with its speed for $10.00 and faitly well built also.

Keep an eye out for the 6pc gearwrench flex sets on clearance. Got all this for less than $70 and only used $9 in points.

This is over at Kmart (didn't think it deserved a new thread) and clearance so YMMV. But the Olympia Work bench is $42.74. Appears to be the same one that Harbor Freight and others sell. Cheap and low quality but for $43 bucks I might have to go pick it up.
