So did sears drop knipex? or did knipex drop sears? i'm only seeing a couple sku's that are actually sold be sears. like 10. there used to be 200 models. Anyone know the deal?
I noticed they dropped them about two weeks ago. Sears only has the Knipex they carry in store. It being Sears I figured they may come back at some point.

The prices on the Knipex items in my cart went through the roof too.

Sears used to drop-ship most Knipex items. I guess they aren't doing that right now.

I went to the Phillipsburg, NJ Sears store last night (about 7PM) and the only people in the store were employees........ I walked around the store and I was the only customer in that store. Very sad!

I am waiting for some Knipex pliers - had to use up some points. They were supposed to arrive a week ago. On Sears website they are now shown as unavailable, and on shopyourway.com the order shows as similar looking Grip-On brand pliers, being sent from WalMart. I called and the people at Knipex have my order, but it is not even scheduled for shipping until next week. No idea what is going to show up, but I guess that this is the end of using up points on Knipex - I have bought 20+ pairs over the past couple of years. It is one thing to essentially give away Craftsman stuff where they must have a huge markup, but I can't imagine they make much when I am paying $10-15 out of pocket for Knipex with $50 MSRP. I guess people like me are part of their cashflow problem.

Well your thread would be one reason.........Sears Warns of ‘Substantial Doubt’ About Company's Future (3-21-2017)

It is indeed somewhat not uncommon for a supplier to be wary of a company like sears, who is clearly being mismanaged at the cxo level right now. Especially since their relationship seems more like a matter of convenience than anything strategic in the long run.

We are just taking advantage of their point system :dunno:

Indeed, there used to be like 200+ Knipex items on Sears.com. In fact, I had noticed that earlier this year a lot of things were added to the site, like the sheers and some of the smaller pliers. I have gotten a bunch this year with surprise points and free shipping.

I read something online that suppliers are cutting back on their lines of credit with Sears, anticipating a bankruptcy filing. I would guess that Knipex did just that. It seems like the only Knipex online are the 10 items that you can sometimes find in stores.

So I just noticed that I have a couple Knipex items in my cart. When I select those items from my cart, they show as available from Sears - but they don't appear in a search. I then searched google and found the same item that way. The google link is still good, and it allows me to add the item to my cart.

However, when I try google searching for other Knipex items that I have purchased in the recent past, the link comes up as no good.

Maybe it's just something screwy with the website right now, rather than a credit/supplier issue? As others have mentioned, I am having problems even logging in, so there are definitely some website problems.

Incidentally, I also noticed that one of my recent Knipex orders states that it was actually "fulfilled by Home Depot", even though I purchased it directly from Sears.

So much weirdness.

Edit: A whiteside funnel I have in my cart is no longer available from Sears either.

I guess spending that hour playing SYW games paid off a little. I got this for 18 cents. They are on clearance now for $2.47 I think at that price they are finally worth it.

Also saw this at one Sears near me.

Edit: it's a 40" top chest.

I believe those are the EDGE series. Sure looks like the pull handles.

I don't think so. The edge boxes are colored the same (drawers and box). This one is a red box and black drawers. I think it's one of their more flimsy boxes but at $50 who cares...

Craftsman 40-Inch 7-Drawer Heavy-Duty Ball Bearing Top Chest

Just going by the item number in the photo, not bad for $50.

Sears Outlet stores are not in many places, and the deals are pretty much store by store based on returns at the regular sears.

The toolbox liner for net $5 ($10 with $5back in points) is a good deal

Yeah they have some good deals going on with 50% back in points. But doing that means you don't want to use points / coupons for your purchases as that will reduce the amount of points you get back. Well, maybe like the $10 off $40 or whatever that is just a small partial, but buying 100% (or close to that) in points will negate any bonus received... :(

Noticed "new trick" that Sears is doing with website now . . . .
. . . . they do NOT show what SYW points you're earning when you review order.

They've also switched from listing everything by points . . . to dollars.

I've got nearly $40 in pts and not finding much worth buying, or whether I can "trust" Sears.

Yeah, that started happening a couple weeks ago.

I had a few minutes to kill last night so I chatted up a Sears rep. Went round and round pasting links to screen shots and asking what was up. Useless.

Are you able to see how many points you'll earn at checkout?

I've become more reluctant with points deals now that they won't let me see what I'll earn at checkout.

I see a $10 back in points on a $30 purchase in my shopyourway account, but when trying it out do not see the points at checkout. Now it makes sense! I wouldn't take the risk and hassle of dealing with Sears to try to get them to fix it.

I just did some forensic customer service calls with them. Luckily, the rep was honest and didn't hide what she could see in her computer system. and it was very clear they were doing shady stuff. I will never buy from sears again without screenshotting the order.

With all of this, and the loss of knipex, I'll strictly be limiting by sears business going forward. I will only buy craftsman relabels of USA tools sold by other outlest (ie gauranteed quality) and to support their suppliers, not Sears.

I just don't trust Sears the company or Crafstman the brand (until maybe Stanley saves them?), and certinaly not Sears online store or the senior/middle management. The store management is terrible. But at this stage in the game they are simple pawns in a system well outside their control.

That being said, if you can get the liner for $5 net...its good and worth your money. If its worth the hassle of dealing with sears, I cannot say :(

@potato: same back end for checkout on both sites. Shopyourway doesn't show points earned for the order either.

I'm not sure I'm on the same page but you can see it in the item your trying to purchase.

I actually have a coupon and surprise points to get 3 rolls and a $1 filler for $30.97, but only pay $15.94 in points and $0.03 out of pocket. Get back $15 in points.

Clicking on Review Order had always helped ensure I was doing my SYW magic right before placing the order, but now it's a leap of faith.

That's just the item page, but I asked about checkout. In particular for the desktop site, the final review page used to recalculate the points to be earned after you've selected your payments.

Since it's Sears Outlet, don't be surprised if you're missing a dozen sockets.

yes, this is gone.

what the issue is now is that when you pay with points...at checkout...it often changes the tiers of points your order qualifies for. so it may say X point for this purhase, and Y points available to pay for it. You pay with Y points and now your not qualified for the X points back...and it doesn't tell you or show you so you may be dissapointed. Your receipt will usually come in a minute or two, which will tell you your pionts...but...if you don't like it you then have to cxl your order.

So, yes it is less transparent. Am not sure this is as sketchy as some of the other stuff, but its not user friendly and if someone is not familiar with how the point allocations work (which many learned by using the checkout page) i willl probably be misleading to some people for sure.
