So this morning, I got an email from Sears Parts Direct that my order had shipped!

...but when I went to check the order status the other CM Industrial item I ordered shipped, but the large industrial wrench set now has a status of "Order sent to manufacturer for fulfillment". You fellers probably know better than me, but has Sears completely discontinued Craftsman Industrial? Well, I guess that would be has Stanley Black and Decker, if it wasn't already before? If so, it seems I should ask for a refund sooner than later...but for now I'm fine to wait if there's any chance.

I would wait...

It could be they're shipping old stock from another company's warehouse... like Apex (I read somewhere on the site that Armstrong was making Craftsman Industrial wrenches... before they were bought by Apex and closed up shop)... hence, the status you see.

I haven't heard that SBD has started actually manufacturing any Craftsman stuff, yet... and I'd be surprised if you'd get a set of Stanley or Bostich wrenches in their place. I don't think SBD currently even sells a comparable set (though they do advertise a few single large-size wrenches on their website).

Worst case, they're not really in stock/there are none left and they give you a refund. Best case... you get a really nice set of large wrenches.

So this gets a little weirder. I have an email saying my order shipped. The items aside from the CM large industrial combo wrenches had a status of "Shipped", and the large wrenches had a status of "Order sent to manufacturer for fulfillment", as I previously said. There was a link next to the other items that said "View UPS Details". I didn't actually click it to get the tracking number, however.

After posting here I started a chat with a Sears rep, who told me that he was reaching out to his "backend" team and they would get back to me in 2-3 days (see attached screenshot of the chat). Now, when I go to check the order status, all items now are back in a "Pending" status...and there's no tracking link. Has me scratching my head, but I'm fine to wait for a good deal.

No shipping email yet, but order does say it was "sent to manufacturer." Great if I get them, otherwise its $80 I wont have to spend for a few days (might be a good thing).

does anyone know if Sears Parts purchases count towards ShopYourWay reward amounts? Good chance with a couple more purchases, I could get to $800. Hoping this counts too

Yes... it's supposed to. There's a place on the Checkout screen to enter your SWYR number or associated e-mail.

However, I didn't get my points from my purchase, yet (I chose to get 15% off vs. the $20 back in points)... so I will have to contact them for the couple of bucks they owe me. They are usually pretty good about fixing it, though... you usually just need your SYWR number and Order Number... and they add them the next day.

Too bad you can't use your points at SearsPartsDirect... I've got $45 worth of points expiring in a few days... would have loved to use them on those Cross Force wrenches (I liked the large ones so much, I then sprang for a couple of sets of the Cross Force when they dropped the price).

I hope these orders sent to manufacturer for fulfillment doesn't mean we'll get Chinese wrenches.

I spoke with customer service again yesterday and they told me that this is a special offer through sears parts direct but that the wrenches are actually coming from Sears, not sears parts direct. That should be why on some it says sent to manufacturer for fulfillment. I spent a good deal of time on the phone with her and in the end she told me that she was going to have to refund my money and then when everything got figured out they would send me an email offering me the wrenches at the same price if they were available. Needless to say I was less than happy with this. As soon as I got off the phone with her I went in and reordered again ordering the 22 piece set and the Large wrench set separate this time. Maybe if the Large Wrench set was the problem this will at least get the 22 piece set shipped.

Hi guys! I haven't used my account here in forever (been trying to avoid temptation, lol), but I've been following the Sears/SYW threads avidly this year, since SYW started making it possible this year for me to accumulate more useful amounts of points before they expire (previous years I was left out of a lot of formerly-targeted 'doorbusters' and I got tired of spending so much time on the games when it wouldn't add up to enough to do much in 14 days). I've been able to afford to expand my tool collection quite a bit this year thanks to SYW.

I recently became aware of the existence of Craftsman Christmas ornaments. Turns out they've come out with 200+ different ones over 20+ years, and not a one of 'em ever appeared in my local stores! :willy_nil This year's ornaments are currently on buy-one-get-one-free AND 50% off online through tomorrow, Dec 16. Unfortunately, they stopped being available for shipping a couple days ago, before I could re-accumulate enough points to get them. :( So now I'm kicking myself that I didn't just order them sooner and pay out of pocket...

Three of the designs are new for 2017 (hex nut snowflake, "90", and the toolbox), and the other three are repeats from previous years.

If any of you still have them available at your local store, you should be able to order all 6 online for in-store pickup for a total of $14.97 (plus tax, if not using points). If anyone who can find them would be willing to pick up a set for me, I'd reimburse your cost and shipping, via Paypal or whatever method you prefer.
They are available at my store but they don't show for pickup. Just got a few for $5 ea.

Same...with this mystical team that certainly does not email you back w/in 2 days.

I really doubt those direct links are going to work. I watched the crossforce wrenches go from an available quantity of ~60 each (SAE and metric) two days ago, to about 10 last night, to zero this morning.

The people in the dedicated searspartsdirect wrenches thread ("CM Industrial Large Wrenches are Back!") were saying SPD reps think they might be able to get more of at least some of these wrench sets from the manufacturer's warehouse, even though SPD itself ran out. Remains to be seen if that will actually happen for anyone, both the ones who ordered this time around and the people whose orders didn't get fulfilled yet from a couple weeks ago. The reason for the stock levels dropping so fast this weekend is probably that SPD sent out an email blast ("New, lower prices: Craftsman Industrial tools") promoting several of these wrench sets a couple days ago (Friday afternoon, Dec 15).

This morning I heard back from a relative who found 5 out of 6 of them for me at their store (which the website claimed had none), hidden behind the Precious Moments ornaments, lol. :) Still in search of the Hex Nut Snowflake, but will be able to check an out-of-town store in person myself tomorrow.

Funny, I was looking online for those this morning and was disappointed when the website showed that there were none anywhere. I had to go to the store anyway today and, sure enough, they were a bunch of them. I picked up the toolbox. It turns my wife got the store before me in search of them for me. She picked up the stocking and the snowflake. We didn't get the wrenches, though, as that one is s repeat from a previous year. Might go back and pick up the saw blade. The snowflake is nice because it has the date on it.

Typical Sears these days, they have some nice stuff still but they do not make it easy to buy it. :p Whole lotta playing hide-and-go-seek, dancing around, jumping through hoops, dodging moving goalposts... ;)

Were they in the tools section of the store? My wife gets antsy when I start walking up and down every single aisle.

Looks like the site takes 15% off via code parts17. Might help offset shipping. Thanks.

Struck out on the darn hex nut snowflake at my out-of-town store. They had some, again despite the website saying they had none, but not that one. I will be in the vicinity of another further-away store in a few days to make one more attempt. It's disappointing to realize too late that these were in a lot more stores than the website ever admitted, but were never inventoried properly or something, and now most of them are sold out for real.

The two orders I made for the large wrenches last Thursday morning showed up today.

I ordered two more on Friday and that order like so many on here has been sent to manufacturer for fulfillment.

yep no holes in either of these boxes although the first set of wrenches I got were in the same box packed the same way and they almost fell out. So I think it has more to do with how ups throws them around.

Yeah, unless the wrenches are surrounded by enough dense packing material that you can't hear them shift around inside the box at all when you shake it around, they're surely heavy enough to force some of that basic package-sealing tape to unstick if given enough momentum. The papery type of tape that bonds with the cardboard when dampened might've been able to hold more reliably, but even that isn't a sure thing.

I got my fingers crossed. Thanx for the detail

Sears is the world's worse packager. All the packages I have ever got from them were unbelievably poorly packaged. And since they were all that way, it kind of reflects why these goofs are going under.

I'm still amazed that the Long prybar didn't escape.

It'll be interesting to see if the ones supposedly being shipped by the manufacturer show up better-packed or not.

Part of the problem on stuff shipped by Sears itself is that a lot of the shipments come from individual stores, which don't always have enough quantity or variety of packing supplies on hand. So even people who know they ought to be packing your order better often don't have the means to do so. Someone posting on an anonymous forum for Sears employees recently claimed he and his back-room manager have even started periodically driving around nearby neighborhoods the night before trash pickup to scavenge empty boxes to boost his store's shipping supplies.

Sears is the worse packager for sure. I took advantage of their free shipping for $25 or above. Ordered some pliers, the box that came with was huge, with not packing peanuts or anything. I am surprised the pliers did not poke thru the box. I can see many indentation inside the box, so you can tell the package been handled roughly, which is expected. I would not be surprised if some pointy tools, like a pry bar would poke thru the box and eventually get lost somewhere.

There really isn't all that much to even order anymore.
They are either revamping the entire tool line in January or something much worse. ***** for them cause they need the sales and everything is gone.

Went and checked out the closing store again tonight, only like 3 half full aisles left of tools and it really doesn't look THAT much different from the non closing store! (at least the power tools section).

My store sold out of all their Dewalt bits, which I would often use as fillers on larger purchases, and those have no been restocked in several months. I picked up one of the last 2 pivoting nut drivers they had, before seeing nothing the next week.

So even though they are in bed with SDB now, looks like they are getting the cold shoulder

The tool dept in my store is half empty. Empty pegs everywhere, half of the tool cabinets gone, entire isles reappropriated for other use. I asked the guys at the counter to level with me and tell me if they were closing down the tool dept. They said that they have been waiting for a truck that has been delayed. Hmmm..

On a related topic, I realized the other day that the electronics dept is gone and has been replaced by mattresses. The store has more mattresses on the floor than a mattress store. I asked the sales person and she said that mattresses offer the greatest profit. The first floor of the store is about 1/3 mattresses now.

the electronics got replaced by mattresses here too.

i bet they have so many mattresses because they can still get them on credit.

they also have the benefit of taking up a lot of room, so the store doesnt look so empty . . . .
