Ha, so much for valuing 'members', Sears. :p Someone on SD said something similar a couple weeks ago, they bought some $1 filler item in-store without using their account and got a bunch of coupons, after not getting any since the drought kicked in for frequent shoppers back in June. I haven't tried that myself yet since it would seem kinda weird when all the cashiers have seen me before and know I have an account.

That BB coupon may work for a non-account purchase in-store, but if you try to use that coupon with your account, it won't work. We have a couple accounts in our family, and only one received a Sears BB last month. We have tried swapping the code, it doesn't work, but it's not really swapping as it's the same for everyone. something at the register triggers it to be active in your account. That's why those cards they hand out when you do get a BB coupon, all are the same.

What card? Maybe I'm using the wrong term, I was referring to any coupon that you get with your receipt.

Yeah, usually when we talk about "bounceback coupons" here, it's referring to special ones that come with a physical card (the size of a credit card) in addition to the receipt printout. The computer decides whether to add one to your account when you make an in-store purchase during the appropriate timeframe, and tells the cashier to hand you a card. The code on that card/printout is the same every time they do a round of these, and has no value unless used in the same account it was automatically assigned to at point of purchase. You have to wait some number of days later to come back ('bounce' back ;) ) to use a bounceback coupon (they're only valid after they stop giving out that round of them), during a timeframe stated on the receipt printout. You have to keep the printout to know when it's valid and what value your account was assigned, the cards are the same every time. They are normally a great value-ratio that doesn't require spending a higher amount than the coupon is worth, so are more desirable than normal coupons.

I figured you were talking about the normal coupons on the receipt printouts instead, which have unique codes that can potentially be used by a different account than who received it, but only once.

Most of us buying on our accounts have received little if any of both kinds for the last ~2 months, when they were reliably coming with almost every purchase (regardless of total or OOP amount) for years prior.

No biggie than, most of what I have been letting lapse are 4 off 20 tools, 10 off 40 anything, 7 off 35 anything.

Coupons issued to your account are tied to your account. Others may be able to use them, but SYW tracks the connection to the account and that appears to be one factor they consider when banning accounts.

I've never gotten a card with my bounceback coupons, maybe that's just one region doing that or something? I think most of us understand the bounceback coupons to be the ones printed on the receipt offering unrestricted freecash for a specified period of time, issued only on an in-store purchase.

This rebadged GearWrench item has some good customer reviews.

Craftsman 15PC BRAKE SERVICE KIT $39.56 (reg. $89.99)

Use RetailMeNot $5 off $35 tool coupon: $34.56

The coupon drops it below the $35 minimum for free shipping, so you'll need a filler like this Craftsman medium grit sharpening stone ($1.73).

In retail, bounceback offers are given out with a purchase to get you to "bounce back" to the store. So I agree with you that pretty much any coupon that prints out at the register with your purchase is a bounceback coupon.

My explanation is a bit different than others in this thread:

A Sears or Kmart bounceback coupon that comes with an additional freecash card (if the cashier hasn't run out) is the freecash discount offer. The generic freecash discount code is already on the receipt coupon that is printed out, so the extra cardboard card with the same generic code is actually unnecessary. Also, it's different from freecash points, because it applies as a discount on your subtotal. Since the freecash discount offer is loaded into your account, sharing the generic code with others who didn't get the offer will not activate the offer for them.

No biggie than, most of what I have been letting lapse are 4 off 20 tools, 10 off 40 anything, 7 off 35 anything. I've been shopping in store a bunch due to my stack of $5 off $5 apology up coupons(instore only with crapload of restrictions) and simply getting more of those 3 type of coupons that I could ever use. I found the trick to get the bounceback coupons is to not use my SYW account when redeeming the apology coupons. Apparently they work harder to get non SYW members to come back.

I may just make a google doc and share it with a few of the regular contributors in this thread via PM to avoid any controversy.

I'm glad someone is still getting coupons... it's been over 2 months since I got one... and that includes some in-store purchases as well as a couple of (albeit, small) online purchases where I didn't redeem any points.

Someone on SD reported a couple weeks ago that they bought a whole dang refrigerator at Sears and still didn't get any coupons, lol.

I guess I should be thankful I got the $5 in Freecash with the weekly sweeps e-mail yesterday... since that's dried up for me, too.

I'm not sure what you mean and why it is different from freecash points. The bounceback offers I have gotten have been freecash offers for a particular dollar amount toward any purchase. I have also gotten freecash offers like that, as well as freecash offers that were a dollar amount off a minimum spend. I'm not understanding what was different about the offers you got?

Yep, for me it's just been those and the occasional coupon from retailmenot.
And doh, I just realized my hurried order last night was a large enough total that I would have been better off using a $5 off $35 from RMN on it, and using my $5 from that email on some other small item. Oh well, too late now.

You can also try texting "CLUB" to 73277... they sent me another $10 off $50 in tools coupon.

Freecash coupon vs Freecash in points

Let's say you want to order a $39.99 item, and it qualifies for the $35 minimum free shipping.

If you apply a $10 freecash discount coupon in the cart, then your subtotal will drop to $29.99. So the order no longer qualifies for free shipping.

If you apply $10 in freecash points as payment at checkout, then your subtotal will remain at $39.99. So the order still qualifies for free shipping.

Just tried a bunch of zip codes from around the country, and I'm quite surprised so many locations still have it in stock. And still no new reviews yet that indicate it's made overseas now. :shocking:

paid $399 - $35 RMN coupon for a 10-drawer CM tool cabinet (to use as a counter in my kitchen) and got $40 cash back from RMN plus the $304

just got a price protection on this as it dropped another $20 on top of the $5 from the weekend, all credited to my card. total OOP $360.69. $40 RMN cashback pending, $304 in points. makes this one pretty slick deal IMHO. same cabinet at lowes is $100 more than what i paid and isnt even in the same league once all the cash/points back are added up.

but to keep this on track, heres an ok deal if anyones looking for a torque wrench. i finally got a $5 off anything freecash that just showed up that brings it down to less than $9 OOP

Craftsman 3/8-in. Dr. Beam Style Torque Wrench
Item # 00932999000
$13.46

hopefully theyre starting back up with the freecash/points instead of the $5/35 poop ive been seeing lately

i'll be honest...i'm not sure, i try to keep my inbox clean and sears spams me hard. i thought i saw something for the SYW games and i clicked it but didn't win anything. is that maybe what spurred the $5 freecash?

Opening the email titled "Sweeps Weekly" should have loaded a $5 freecash offer into your account.

yes. if it has a short expiration of tomorrow, then most likely.

is that something they send out each week or did i just get lucky? i usually click on most of the sears stuff just to check to see if they have any decent deals like the 300/300 going on, but this is the first time i recall seeing complete freecash to the account

Yes, they send those most weeks lately to most people who participate in the games. We talk about them in the SYW games thread.

Hmm, sounds like I have not received the "discount coupon" version then. All the freecash offers I have received have been $X off $Y in XYZ or just $X cash, applied at checkout, and did not affect eligibility for free shipping.

The confusion comes from how Sears started tacking on "freecash" verbage to multiple distinct types of promotional whatevers.

Coupons, which for clarity I try to always refer to without "freecash" tacked on, always reduce your subtotal and affect your eligibility for free shipping. There's a code you have to enter or a barcode to scan, unless you've added them to your account via the "Coupons" area on the Sears/Kmart/SYW sites.

Freecash offers, originally called surprise points offers (so sometimes if I feel like typing it all out I say 'freecash surprise points offers'), act like regular points if you're buying something that meets the offer's stipulations (appropriate subtotal and/or department) - they reduce your total (as if you had paid with real money, but no sales tax) and don't affect eligibility for free shipping. They apply automatically on an eligible purchase, when you aren't also trying to use a coupon, and use enough of your points to include the amount of points provided by the offer.

And then there are promotions that give you regular points with no stipulations on usage (other than time limits), which sometimes have "freecash" tacked on in their promotional banners and whatnot too. Regular points can be combined with either coupons or freecash surprise points offers.

Sears makes it way too confusing to talk about this stuff. :)

Just something that I figured I should mention... I've had a couple of orders recently where the items weren't available for free shipping, although very similar ones by the same manufacturer were. I did webchats on these and was offered free shipping both times (both orders totaled just over $35).

On one order, they just added a credit for the shipping costs. On the other, they charged shipping and then refunded my credit card $6.25.

So if you see something you want and it doesn't have free shipping as an option, you might want to do a webchat and see if they will do it for you.

I haven't had much luck with the web chat agents. I'll have to try it again with the shipping.

I was just about to post the same experience from two nights ago. I've wanted this Craftsman 2" Wobble extension - 1/2" drive item for a while, but has always not been included for free shipping. I'm hoping for old USA stock, but am anticipating it won't be.

So I chatted with the rep, and after first figuring out why a $5 off $35 wasn't applying, so I added another medium grit file block (thanks for that post, i've bought 4 since). Then I said I wanted to pay all in points, but she said there was $6.95 shipping & needed a credit card (I was still above $35 total). I told her that item is smaller than just about everything I've ordered, and I don't need it that bad, but would like to get it. She checked with her supervisor/someone and said because (first take a guess) I am a valued customer they would waive the shipping fee. On top of that, she re-issued $4 in points that expired the day before.

I much prefer chat with Sears agents than most other companies ironically. My only complaint is the chat agents think they are open 24 hours & usually end their conversations with that, which they might be on their end, but Sears website shuts the connection down at 10:30 CST. Hopefully Sears isn't paying for 24 hours service and only getting 16. You would think the chat agents would realize the drop off in chats after that time cutoff.

Some news to be aware of - nothing specifically happening at this point, but a warning of things to come. Someone on SD who listens to all the Sears shareholder conference calls reports this morning:

" Sears Holdings held a conference call this morning for shareholders about discussions to abandon or reform the Shop Your Way Rewards program and selling it or spinning it off to a third party. This is under exploration at this time. It is not a done deal, and if there are no buyers, nothing will change unless they end it themselves. Basically the proposals range from an 80% trim on SYWR promo spending, offering membership points and rewards to Sears credit card holders only, and charging a $29-49 annual fee for membership.

Fast Eddie continues to explore taking Sears Holdings private. This morning, his hedge fund offered $400 million to acquire the Kenmore brand. He also admitted this morning Sears has a liquidity problem, which will trigger a vendor stampede to the exits. Companies that admit this are no longer qualified for third party vendor assurance insurance, which guarantees vendors someone will pay them for goods shipped in. That will mean cash upfront, something Sears cannot do.

Fast Eddie is offering to acquire Sears Home Services for $80 million.

Also, Lampert has announced ALL remaining Sears and Kmart locations owned by Sears Holdings are now available for immediate sale, either to replace Sears or Kmart or to lease back the property to Sears or Kmart to keep those stores open.

Most ominously, Lampert is now asking debt holders about their possible interest in debt restructuring/forgiving debt to stave off bankruptcy.

More store closures coming.

Old plan target: 769 consisting of 409 Sears and 360 Kmart stores by November.
New plan target: ~745 with <400 Sears and <350 Kmart stores.

Quiet closures continue averaging about one store a week. "

(I haven't had time to keep up with all the employee gossip about the trickling-in store closures for the past few weeks.)

There has also been some reports recently from another person on SD who is a member of some unnamed focus group that has been getting asked how they would feel if the SYW program were to hypothetically end at the end of this year...

Given all their vendor issues this year, I assumed that 2018 would be their final year.

You can spread out only so many mattresses across the store floor.
(and some of the older floor model mattresses are awfully dirty :headshake)

So some insight on the disappearing and reappearing vendor's. Most of these vendor's are drop shopping merchandise and getting paid net30/60/90. With SHC doing worse and worse the terms are likely shorter than net 30, and in some cases likely immediate payment. As a precaution they are limiting the amount of outstanding $$$ they let Sears carry. When SHC his the threshold, vendor's are cutting off additional purchases until Sears pays them, at which point they go live again.

Seeing as how Sears is still public, I hope some other company buys out whatever is of value from under Lampert... Just to give him the boot and piss him off... Though he has milked Sears for hundreds of millions since he became CEO...

I will have to see what is it worth before making decision, but right now I can not think of any reason why I would want to pay for my SYWR membership. I used to do a lot of price comparison, and most tools can be bought cheaper or around same price at Lowes, Home Depot, Autozone, NAPA etc which do not have annual fee. Or even cheaper if I get used ones like on eBay or CL.

Only reason I bought it at Sears is because I am paying with points.

Appreciate sharing the info @Hexen

Well well well, every time we think it's gone for good, it pops back in again!

$19.99 sale, $29.99 regularly (ship to home or store)

Probably won't even last a whole day before going out of stock again, from recent trends.

Too bad the two smaller siblings seem to have been gone much longer without returning in Craftsman versions.
