My pickup store is very incompetent with order pickup. Sears policy is that each order that takes in excess of 5 minutes to pickup, results in your receiving a $5 off $5 in store only coupon. As a result I split my purchases up into as many orders as possible to maximize the amount of these coupons I receive when pickup goes wrong. At my local store I've never had a pickup not take in excess of 5 minutes. So yesterday I got 6 of these coupons, plus the 1 that the Sears app generates if your in-vehicle pickup goes over 5 minutes. I can't always find something to spend the coupons on due to the restrictions, or don't have time to use them right away. So I normally wait to use them on consumables like sandpaper, wire wheels, buffing wheels, etc on a day I've got time to meander the store. I've still got a dozen more coupons to use up, and they don't expire until sometime in 2020. The whole situation is really comical because it is always the General Manager who brings out my orders, and the coupons. She laments that they are constantly having problems with their pickup system.

I've never had a manager bring out my stuff (regular Sears stores), so it sounds like they can't afford proper staffing.

My store had it tagged ~$60 as of two days ago for the stool. I would grab another shovel @ $8 for sure. Is that confirmed nationwide, at least at corporate locations?

edit: maybe they are getting rid of the shovel, as I'm only finding it at Hometown stores at the moment. I haven't even seen the traditional digging shovel listed on their site for a while, now that I think about it.

A friend confirmed his local Sears store had the same clearance price (again, had to use price checker).

Don't know about Hometown store pricing.

Are they discontinuing the USA made Pry Bar Set with Strike Caps? I have been trying to order them for the past month and they first weren't offering shipping, then no where local to me, now it says not available within 100 miles of me and I have a bunch of Sears within 100 miles. These were really well made and I think were made by Wylde

Not 100% sure, but with so much other products silently switching to China / Taiwan it wouldn't surprise me. Just about all their other pry bars & scrapers are foreign...

Yeah, I have several with store pickup still, not at my local store but a few within 100 miles...

I dunno... keep an eye on it, maybe in a month or so they will have more stock for shipping, you never know.

I would like to say there is no way Sears would do something so dumb as discontinue a popular, good, reasonably priced, product... but it's Sears, so who knows. There were a dozen in stock at my local pick up last time I was there, and now the closest is hours away.

Maybe Sears isn't discontinuing them. Maybe Wylde is discontinuing Sears like Western Forge did. It is getting hard to find anything from Sears that I need or want. Almost everything I am interested in says not available for shipping and unavailable within 100 miles.

Some Chinese company making their small hand clamps must be doing the same thing. I think after buying all the 1" & 2" clamps from all my nearby stores as fillers or to use expiring points, they have not restocked. The 2" is available for shipping, but not free (even at $35). So that means they don't have any in their warehouse & and are shipping from a store. Recently I bought a Gearwrench 1-1/4 combo wrench, and it didn't have free shipping (though i chatted and got it), but it came from a store & even still had a clearance price sticker still on it, and of course marked cheaper than the web too :(.

They do have the 6-pack of clamps, but often is not the better buy, and I'd find something else for that amount of points to buy

I'm not sure if it should go in this thread or the other Sears thread, but (obviously) we all know they're about to go under, however in the past I've never had an issue getting a refund or points credited, but I've been working on canceling an order for 3 weeks now and can't get any movement so that might be a bigger sign that they're truly on the brink than anything else.

Long story short: bought a CM 27", wasn't in stock but would be shipped to my store in 2 weeks. Never had a prob before so didn't think twice and ordered. Ship date kept getting pushed back, eventually told them to cancel and I'd pick up a similar in stock at my local. They said ok, but I never got a refund or points back. Contacted chat a few times, they kept saying refund will show in 3-5 days etc etc, nothing showed up. Started to escalate to phone calls as well as chats, everyone has a different answer, date keeps getting pushed back and I simply cannot get this thing canceled. Just last night I had the most honest answer from a phone rep: it was "backordered" (i.e. waiting for Sears to pay CM before it can ship) and hadn't shipped yet but she gave yet another date a week out that it would for sure be to the store, then said to go in store and they could cancel on their end.

Anyway, we'll see if anything ever comes of this. I'd like to get in on the $200/200 deal because once I get my points back I could get a larger CM cabinet down to exactly $200 (in stock locally) but really don't want to invest any more $ since it now seems impossible for cash or points to flow the other way.

Just my .02--6 months might be an optimistic estimate for how long they have left. But I could use that cabinet and with coupons and discounts it's still way cheaper than anywhere else, so if I could get any of the $200 back it'd just be gravy on top.

It's fine, we talk about stuff like that here periodically. :) I'd be skeptical about the suggestion to "go in store and they could cancel on their end", if you originally ordered online. I would've said try phone, but you already did; if they can't do it, I don't know that in-store people could at all, even if you find someone on duty who knows enough to even attempt it. (Sears has lost a lot of their more experienced store employees.)

I've cancelled a few orders online. The funny part is, the order still gets fulfilled at the store sometimes, and will show up if you do in-store pickup. I've had to tell them a couple times an item wasn't mine.

Do you think filing in small claims court would do any good?

I doubt it. Do you think the CS in India understand what small claim court means? If they do, do you think they care?

If you paid by credit card, call the cc company and ask them to do charge back. If you did not use cc, I don’t know what to do tbh. I always use cc because of this. Any problem I get the cc company to get involved.

well i made a trip of it today, went to the local lowes (ours **** so bad--nothing is on clearance like other stores and spoke to the manager who refused to price match any other lowes. was at 4 other stores out of the area on my way back from vacation yesterday and they all did w/o question. but thats a rant for another thread...)

anyway, afterwards i made my way over to sears. had to speak to the manager who said it was .com's issue and she wouldnt be able to do anything but that she'd look at it anyway. pulled it up on the computer and viola she cancelled it in like 3 minutes. said it never lets her do that. so not only did she get my $ refunded (offered cash but i said to put it back on the card) but she also credited all of my points and they were added to the account while we were talking. i did not expect that.

so perhaps my issue wasn't a sign of something larger, but it still makes me trepidatious getting in much deeper with the points. my parents meanwhile have doubled down. they got in on the 125, 300, a few of the 50s and smaller ones, plus 500+ on a mattress purchase and are about to jump onto the 200 deal too. pretty sure at this point theyre over $100 in points per month, but so far its all been stuff they needed and were going to buy anyway so whatever points they end up with are just icing.

so alls well that ends well. i plan to order my new CM 41" in a few days. just waiting for retail me not to throw up another cash back offer. the last one ended yesterday :X

Craftsman 5pc Ratcheting Tap and Die Set - $39.99

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-5pc-ratcheting-tap-and-die-set/p-00917486000P

Certainly not something I use a lot... but worked fine the couple of times I have used it.

Appears to be the same as the Gearwrench version... and the COO was Taiwan. If you have points expiring... and/or still have one of those RMN $5 off $35 coupons, might be worth considering.

Posting this here incase someone is interested getting this 17" Mayhew Dominator pry bar. UPS just dropped this at my house. It is curved, not straight blade per Sears website.

https://www.sears.com/mayhew-17inch...lerId=SEARS&prdNo=12&blockNo=12&blockType=G12

as comparison, Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013AZZ4C/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I just chatted with Sears CS, and that was a waste of my time. I thought I should alert them that their website is incorrect but she keep insisting that Sears website is correct, and she wants to order me another one. I was like, what are you going to order me? Another curved pry bar? She thinks she can order this item again and get me the correct straight pry bar :headscrat

I really think there was a language barrier with this person. I think I am just going to keep the pry bar. I do not have time to figure out how to send this back. I rather spend my time to win more points

$13.61 Craftsman 7" High-Visibility Red Rafter Square
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-red-rafter-square/p-00938608000P?rrec=true

There are some other squares and larger rafters but a bit more than $15

https://www.sears.com/tools-levels-stud-finders-squares/b-1221051250

I need to find something good myself so I can use my $8 freecash

Yeah, I recommend that red square, very nice readability compared to the usual all-grey ones. :)

Unfortunately Sears sometimes has had incorrect product photos/numbers on their website for months or even years before fixing them; at this point in the company's lifecycle, I wouldn't count on them ever getting fixed. But on occasions when Sears ships you the wrong thing (or a damaged right thing) and you do want to try again, at least they usually don't make you send the first thing back to them. :)

Thanks @Hexen. In my case, the CS wanted me to return the item and will order me a new one, which does not make sense to me (it will be the same item as the one I return). I got frustrated, so I just left the chat. I have pretty low expectation, so once I see it was going nowhere, I did not want to spent more time with this person.

those racks look decent esp for the price. great cart filler for those weekly sweeps coupon freebies. though i just stocked up on two dozen HF 18" magnets they had on sale for .99 each and im using them across my pegboard for both wrenches and pliers/snips/etc.

Shopping idea, on sale for $4.67. I think these are one of the greatest wrench racks there are, great for storage, and great for taking to the work. Give one a try if you've got points to burn, even USA made.

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-12-wrench-organizer-black-organizer-with-handle/p-00965272000P

+1 for the wrench rack. I think usually it is around $8.

I did not know they sell magnets, thank you! I need to find some time so I can check-out HF peacefully, preferably without the wife and kid

Any experience with price matching lowering your order total to below the minimum spend for e.g. the $200 cashback on $200 offer? If I price match will I lose the (future) cashback points? In my case it's a $60 savings if I do pricematch...

If you do the price protection after you've already made the purchase, then you are safe.

Yes, this happened to me. Price matched and it brought my order before tax down to $195. Didn't realize it until later when my points were missing.

Had to threat to cancel the order to get points back... will see if I get the next installments

Have you (recently) done this on orders with points paid in installments?

Thanks for the heads up -- I may have to rethink this then...

No, what did it say? Haven't seen a Sears review-to-earn-points promotion in years (and sadly I failed to take advantage of it back when it was a thing, thinking I'd get around to it eventually until it quietly went away).
