When you have some time, try asking the chat reps to find out the real order status, like I was talking about in the last couple pages. They have access to more meaningful order status info than we do. And if the status looks bad enough, they can cancel the first order and reorder at no additional charge for shipping to your home.

I'm not so sure they know the real status either.

3 days ago I inquired on an order and was told it would be shipping on 12/4. 2 days ago I got an email saying an item was shipped. 1 day ago I got an email say an item was shipped. There were 2 items in the order so I guess there was an email for each (top and bottom tool box from same vendor). When I check the order today 12/1, it still says "processing". I'll be glad to get my order.

... I guess some databases aren't quite talking to each other anymore. ...

Holy cow, I just noticed another example of databases no longer communicating consistently... My 'In-store Orders' history on SYW.com only shows 3 out of the 7 items I bought in-store in the last couple weeks! :wtf: All the omitted ones were together in two of the same transactions with the ones that aren't missing. (It would be more understandable if a whole transaction went missing.)

At least they're better than the website where things keep getting stuck on 'processing' now, I guess. :dunno: If vendor = Sears Authorized Supplier, they probably get less information than things shipping from Sears itself.

Could someone with the Craftsman Garage Glider Rolling Tool Chest Seat measure the width, length, and depth of the drawers?

Thanks

Be careful buying stuff in store for today's promotion. I found several items that rang up HIGHER that the tags today. Both tools and clothes. Price check everything before you check out, and if it rings higher bring the tag from the hanger. Legally they can't sell for more than the posted price.

Sliding drawers width is a little less than 6 3/4"; The depth is 9 3/4" at the top as the top of the drawer is shallower than the bottom. The bottom of the drawer is about 10".

That's always a risk at Sears these days, in both directions (some ring up higher than marked, but some ring up lower)... between losing experienced tag/sign-updating employees, increasing frequency of price changes and required reprints of unchanged prices increasing the workload, technical difficulties with the tag/sign-printing equipment that should have been replaced years ago, etc.

IIRC, today is the last day of some in-store sales that have been running since several weeks ago (you can see the start and end dates in the fine print on the pricetags); a new cycle starts tomorrow, but the prices shouldn't have changed yet. :dunno:

Sounds like that is the width (side to side) and length (front to back), but he was also looking for the depth (top to bottom, the smallest dimension on the drawer), FWIW.

The drawers are approximately 3" high x 6 1/2" wide x 9 3/4" deep. There is a storage compartment under the red seat, I did not realize when I bought it. Approximately 3 1/2" deep x 10" wide x 11" long.

Hexen to be honest those pliers were ordered with points from sweeps so I do not care. I just didn't want people spending their hard earned money on something risky without knowing.

And this also happen pretty much at all retailers, especially during end of the year when they hire a lot of temporary employees, and the store is busy and hectic. Maybe the frequency is not as bad as Sears, but you should check the prices before paying.

EDIT: and wow... the magnetic panel that everyone were talking about went up to $16.66 (I paid $14.24 two days ago). I was going to buy another one if I get $10 freecash on Sunday.

I was also surprised they didn't advertise the seat storage. You can fit a lot under the seat. This thing is super sturdy.

So I go into my local Hometown store to pickup a few spare filters for my shop vac, and they guy tells me that I've got orders ready for pickup, and that they'd gotten in about 200 customer orders that day. So he rolls out my orders and its all orders that sears replaced for me since about September that never arrived. I tell this to the owner, and he shakes his head, gives me the items and sends me on my way. He said he only gets a few dollars for each online ship to store order he deals with from the Sears.com site, he doesn't see any of the actual item profit. Said it was better for him just to give out the orders, and play dumb if corporate should ever ask.

I used mine for a brake job this week. I either need to loosen the wheels a little, or grease them, and it wouldn't hurt to lose some weight. Otherwise a very nice cart. Definitely worth $45 in points :). Until I grab some tray liner, I put a rag in one of the drawer to throw all the lugs and parts.

On the opposite side it has peg board holes :headscrat, doesn't seem fitting if it moves around. I didn't need that magnetic board before, but I think it could work well there.

lol, check out this page in this week's Sears ad, "Save $0" and they made this mistake multiple times...

QjK7O7zl.jpg

But wait, there's more! :lol_hitti This page has several items that really deserve that "Save $0", because they're not on sale at all, and one item that's missing its prices entirely! Plus some kind of weird placeholder images they forgot to take out (the black boxes with green text).

(Nothing in the tools prices looked particularly interesting, but this made me laugh.)

There is a new coupon promo to save 20% on $50+ in clothes/shoes, online code is SAVE20, valid Dec 2-22. The online version of the weekly ad claims you can also 'click here for printable coupon' to use in-store, but it doesn't have the link set up (clicking does nothing).

The most important part of that coupon information is that it says it won't be valid during the Dec 9-11 Friends & Family event! So now we know that's coming up again next week.

The last few items I bought from Sears I wonder how they get any profit.

Sent from my G8141 using The Garage Journal mobile app

They don't, that's why they're going out of business.

I just got notification that my orders have belatedly shown up at the local Sears. They're going to ruin a lot of Christmases if this is their current fulfillment capability.

last large multi-item order i placed was a few weeks ago when all those pliers went on hot buy sale. 9 items, 9 separate shipments via bubble mailer or small box, all ups, all to the nearest kmart. they lost money on half my items, easily, and couldnt have made anything on the rest

Sad to see Sears go. Haven't bought anything from them since I heard of their bankruptcy news and used up my remaining points. I still had a few things on my want-list: 6" Knipex pliers wrench, Wera 3/8 ratchet and Stanley bailey chisel set, but they're seemingly long been gone from their site.

Yeah... Knipex, Wera, and a bunch of other ship-from-the-manufacturer suppliers (Sears Authorized Suppliers) bailed in October. :(

Guys I haven't been following the thread too closely so apologies if duplicate post, but this International (SPG) 21" roller cart looks awesome for $56.99.

Last night it jumped to $63.99 and then returned to $56.99 this morning.

Thing is they want $116 to ship it to me, and there's no store p/u available anywhere near me, even Denver. I suspect virtually NO Sears stores actually stock a lick of International.

But you can run thru the cart and play with it:
https://m.sears.com/international-21inch-5-drawer-roller-cabinet-red/p-00948268000P

I actually wanted to put this in my guest bath for misc toiletries etc :D. (yeah I'm a bachelor)

LOL I'm in the process of putting a couple Gladiator cabinets in my bedroom and a Sandusky steel locker. Maybe a Craftsman lower as a small dresser, too.

I've had the Craftsman stools at my kitchen table (more like a bar height) for over a decade.

What's surprising is that some quality tools built w steel, ball bearing rollers and even more durable paint are less expensive than most of the **** passed off as "furniture" these days....

thats exactly what ive found too. even the fancy type furniture from the home decorators collection at home depot is absolutely poorly made--just pressboard with a nice veneer--and itll cost you twice what a tool box does!

ive got 3 of these in the house already and could see myself picking up a 4th before sears is finally done

In the spirit of the thread these are pretty damn good for $133, 4 drawer roller cab w ball bearing slides:
https://m.sears.com/Craftsman-26-in...ing-Rolling-Tool-Cabinet---Black/p-A019504864

I actually got mine last night and this is my new dresser. Although it would be on the small side for most people as a dresser. I realized I really only keep my socks and underwear in my dresser and a few pairs of shorts. But I'm a simple creature - "dressing up" for me generally means finding a cotton shirt w only one or two holes from welding sparks ;)

Oh and I like the 41" you linked! I may do that in my downstairs guest room/rec room. I stumbled into a Homak 41" top for $155 on Amazon (price shot up to $650 after I purchased)

Here's my new "dresser" and the Gladiator 28" wall cabinet was the Lowe's $82 holiday special (I think they're back to $150-ish now)

that looks pretty nice. i like the industrial look and definitely prefer the clean lines versus all the various shapes/sizes of modern furniture. i'm using the red/black CM heavy duty version of the 4 drawer as a nightstand. i need to get a 2nd to match ;) might have to pick up one like yours and paint to match

and here's the view from my couch. the top box is a temporary coffee table i put on casters (got it free in points :bounce: ) but im debating on leaving it because of how much storage i get out of it. my house isnt too large so storage space is very valuable

i bought the top to match yours earlier this summer to keep in the bathroom closet for actual tools. but back then i got it for like $58-ish out the door. waaay too expensive now for what it is, but still in the range of what lowes is selling it for. so if you get some points and/or a coupon, might as well complete the set

Is the Craftsman "heavy-duty" line the best bang for the buck if one is buying right now? I am considering getting either a 41in top box or 26in bottom box.

I understand HF boxes are probably better built, however I have $50 worth in points that I am not sure what to buy. I was not planning to get any box but I am running out of space.

I am leaning toward the 41in top box. For future expansion, I figure I can get HF bottom box later. I really like the big/wide drawers which should fit larger tools like breaker bars and pry bars.

I am leaning toward the 41in top box.

ive got both and their heavy duty line are what i would consider standard quality i.e. nothing special but decent for any DIY person or basic garage stuff. the HF stuff ive tested in the store seems like its much nicer/well built, but if it werent for all the sears points/discounts then dollar for dollar HF is the way to go. but lets be honest--some of the prices OOP on sears stuff is ridiculously low. :)

as for which to get, that will depend on what you need. the 41 is nice because the drawers are wide and you can fit a ton of smalls and still be organized, but the 26 fits taller/deeper items. i wish the 41 had the lid with struts so it didnt have to be up for the drawers to be open, but again, the wide drawers sold me on it.

the only thing either could use but dont have are soft close drawers. the 52" CM in the kitchen has those and what a world of difference they make in the feel/quality.

EDIT: also, if you are going to buy the 41 top now, i'd wait til F&F (this weekend i think?) and be sure to use a $20 off $150 from RMN too. by the time you check out you should be about $120ish which is a great price for a top box

Thanks @tabs!

Totally agree that any of these box are decent for DIY person or basic garage stuff, which fits me perfectly, and yes the low OOP is what make these box very attractive. I have seen a used CF boxes on Craiglist that are more expensive lol, so I am thinking worse case scenario, I can probably sell it later and not lose too much money if I end up needing a larger box.

Good point about the soft close drawers! I did not think of that, but that is on a different price range.

And thank you for the "$20 off $150 from RMN too" reminder!

Just an FYI, while most of the premium-branded tools (Wera, Wiha, Mayhew, Knipex) seem to have left Sears.com, you can still cash in points on Grip-on locking pliers. These are the OEM for snap-on, I believe. Really great tools.
