Good thing that my wife picked-up a few things this afternoon from the local store.
So worst case scenario is liquidation which can [take] weeks according to that article. I assume they will still honor our orders right? I still have not received my tool box and a few small orders. I kinda doubt the tool box has left Sears warehouse due to Christmas.
I paid with credit card, so I am sure I can get my money back, but believe I would lose my points so I rather have my order fulfilled.
The Portage Michigan store missed the chopping block again. I went there the day before Christmas and it was a ghost town.
About the same for meWell that updated closing list is the nail in the coffin for me, it's now 3+ hours to the nearest sears.
Sears announced today that 80 more Sears and Kmart stores are closing in about 2 weeks [mid-Jan] and will be liquidated by [the end of] March.
Here are the 80 additional Kmart and Sears stores set to close (Store type, street address, city, state):

Looks like 37 Kmarts and 43 Sears.
And here is the official PDF link from Sears for that list: https://searsholdings.com/docs/122818_store_closing_list.pdf
The reaper has finally come to my area... only taking out the second-closest store for me, though, phew.
Eddie Lampert did get a bid filed on Fri Dec 28, but it is only for 425 stores, so all or nearly all of the 80 locations on the new closure list would still be liquidated regardless of whether his bid gets accepted. The next step in the bid acceptance process is Jan 4, so we are probably safe (things continuing as-is) until then, at least.
"Sears' advisors have until Jan. 4 to decide whether ESL is a "qualified bidder." Only then, could ESL take part in an auction against liquidation bids on Jan. 14. They will weigh the value of Lampert's bid against offers to liquidate the company."
im fine with sears getting saved, and not just for my own gain because ive got points coming for the next few months, but all of these articles talk about there being some 'you cant sue me' clause in the deal to prevent lampert's transactions for the last decade or so from being looked in to. if there is that sort of contingency clause in his deal i hope they reject his offer--im tired of million- and billionaires stealing workers pensions blind and getting away with it.
beyond that, luckily i still have a local kmart to ship items to. im curious how a complete liquidation would work as far as the high shipping requirement and no ship to store option.
Sad really, IMO, I can still remember my Grandfather (circa mid 60's) raving about Sears all the time, "Sears and Roebucks, Sears and Roebucks, You break something they give you a new one, They're THE BEST! Sears and Roebucks,"Very long(5 pages) article about the current problem.

Went by my Hometown store the other day to pick up several orders. Big yellow closing signs...![]()
Well, we will be telling our grandchildren:
Sears WAS the best. I got all of these tools for free by playing SYW
.

I don't know Sears still employs in the neighborhood of 50,000 Americans.FIXED! [emoji481]
BTW! Pull the plug!.... Time to remove Sears from Life Support.
...
I have had issues with conf emails this past week. No order conf email, no your order is ready email, etc.
Good to know. Do you still get the order is ready phone calls, for store pickups?
I got a call today reminding me to pick up my $5 order.

Kid said last day will be Jan 19th... Everything the day I went was 35% off, and (like normal closings) would increase closer to closing... Funny enough he was carrying out 3 boxes of some DeWalt cordless tools he just bought...
Walked around the store, didn't really see anything I need or wanted. Probably will go back closer to closing just because. The owner is a really nice guy, as are all the employees... Sad to see the place go as it was a true locally owned business.
Sorry if this news has already been posted... more bad news for folks without a nearby Sears (or want an item that isn't available for in-store pickup):
"Starting in February, points will no longer qualify toward the free shipping minimum."
... meaning we''ll have to pay $59 out-of-pocket to get free-shipping.
https://www.sears.com/en_us/dap/free-shipping.html
Of course, that assumes Sears even makes it to February...
