i dont know if you guys are finding much to use your points on, but i feel like im scraping the bottom of the barrel right now. aside from those 2 socket sets for $9/ea and some evolv screwdrivers, this is the only new item that i havent seen discussed on here yet:

Dickies Large Wrench & Tool Organizer Roll $11.69

i think its a good price for the size compared to the other wrench rolls on the site. i just picked up a smaller one to put in the 22" truck box (which i think is a great value for $8.99) for my HHR and this larger one should organize all the stuff in my 67 mustang very well as right now theyre just tossed in one of the 13" bags (of course now i'll have to swap it out for the 18" that came with it).

im kinda disappointed with this F&F--several of the items in my wish list arent even as low as what they were on the last midnight madness sale. not to mention the chat reps not wanting to price protect a $10 drop on an item because i used a $10/100 and the new price would put it below $100 so "that coupon wouldn't be valid now"

ahh well...hope you guys are having better luck. though i guess i cant complain too much--still not OOP of any of the above today

It is becoming a struggle for me to find stuff to use the points on as well.

I got over to the store and picked it up today. It is cool, but it is tiny. The entire set fits in a box which is smaller than my phone.

Is it a straight ratchet, or is the ratchet head angled a bit? Any fasteners to indicate it's serviceable? Thanks for any additional info.

How about a picture out of the container on your workbench?

The ratchet head is straight no angle at all. There is an internal snap ring so it should be completely serviceable. The ratchet is fine tooth as well, but I don't know what tooth count. COO is Taiwan.

Does anyone know what the lowest price on the Craftsman Professional 30' Cord Reel has been in the last year or so?

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-30-ft-cord-reel/p-03483929000P

According to shopyourway, it was $36 in March 2018. I am not sure how accurate that is. I like mine, it is pretty heavy and seems to be well built. I think I paid ~$40 with mostly using points.

RE: Dickies. I like mine. I had to go up and down a ladder to fix some sidings this weekend and this really helps. On sale $9.86.

Thanks! I don't need it, but I'm going to add it my wishlist for when I'm looking to spend expiring points.

well i tried again with another rep and they gave me the "one time exception" speech but did refund almost $12 on a prior order that id used a coupon on, so that was cool. then i tried to turn around and spend it by having them price match a 1-1/8" GW to menards but even though it was clearly online for a certain price, and there are menards everywhere, they said they wouldnt price match it unless it was in stock at a local store. not sure why that should matter since i no longer have any local sears, but whatever. its like pulling teeth with these guys now...

but in case someone else is interested and can find one local (or any of their GW line--theres a ton on sale much lower than sears has them listed for) links are above. good luck

LOL, good point if you're buying for home shipping anyway! Pretty lame. Every now and then you can get a rep willing to do a 'one time exception' for even matching online-only sites like Amazon, but they are much happier if you find it for the same price at a website of a company with physical stores (I'm surprised Menard's didn't pass muster on that, you should try again with another rep tomorrow). Sometimes Home Depot and/or Walmart will be in sync with Amazon, for example.

imho in general, the point of price match is so that the (potential) buyer spent his/her money here instead of at the competitor's store.

Personally, if any store, not just Sears, is giving a hard time who they price match, well f*** that, I just spent my money elsewhere. Same price, but without the headache trying to convinced some CS to price match. I do probably have some patience if I have lots of points to spent, but if we are talking OOP, I would just spent my money elsewhere.

Either you price match, or you do not. I respect that either way, but I like to know up front so I can decide where to spend my money  That one time exception is BS :headscrat. They said one time exception but they do this over and over :lol_hitti

iirc, Sears used to have 110% pricematch where they give you 10% lower. This was many years ago when we still have regular Sears locally. I remember I bought a set of tires, and the saving was pretty significant.

FWIW i tried again today for the price match and i finally got it--after a 49+ minute chat. no kidding. im just glad i was at work and could have it in the background as i did other stuff. basically, this rep was fine price matching but couldnt ship to my kmart only sears (which i dont have any more) and kept saying id have to pay shipping or pay the full amount and order through sears.com and then they'd refund the difference in points, etc etc etc.

eventually they settled on a price match with me paying $6.25 shipping, and them immediately refunding $4 of the shipping back to my card. so i said sure, whatever lets get it over with already. in the end i got it for $8.88 OOP after tax, shipping, and points. im happy with the price, but def not the work. if i didnt have so many points to burn and actually had a local menards i would have just bought it there.

quick tip: all i did was find ANY menards that had it in stock and told them what zip code so they could verify it online and they didnt even notice (or check) to see that it was ~250 miles away from me--they just needed to know where it was in stock so they could fill out a form on their end. YMMV if you try it, but it could help someone else get a price match in the future

Interesting. I know people have PMed WM/HD items that are online-only (e.g. Knipex, back when Sears still carried those). :dunno:

Yep, Midnight Madness on a Wednesday instead of Thursday, c'mon Sears, stick to the established pattern. :p It has already kicked in 45min early. I might be buying something since my timing on winning games missed the F&F sale.

I already got the red version of this level a couple years ago, and this black one seems so similar I don't have a need for this one personally (red one is magnetic too despite lack of mention in product description), but this looks like a good deal:

Craftsman 9-inch Magnetic Torpedo Level
$4.74 sale during 5% off, should go back to a $4.99 sale when that ends in a few hours, $11.99 regularly
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-9inch-magnetic-torpedo-level/p-A032973942

Another decent cheap deal, for those who like the classic-handle screwdrivers:

Craftsman 2 Pc. Mini Screwdriver Set
$2.49 Hot Buy sale, $5.99 regularly

I worked at the Portage store for about two years in 2013-15, we've probably met before! The store manager has changed twice now in the past few months, and I'm worried the store will really go downhill if they don't have somebody with some experience to step in.

I was there a couple weeks ago and the tools employee was wearing jeans and a hoodie (and maybe even a hat). He asked some other customers if they needed help and they were very confused that he was an employee. I'm sure they're having a hard time getting warm bodies to fill positions with the current state of the company.

I am sure that we have crossed paths there and I believe I know which employee(s) you are referring to. What department did you work in? I spoke with their newest manager a couple weeks ago and he seems to be on a mission to run a tighter ship and I recognize him from the Battle Creek store. So far the store has appeared to be much more organized and stocked. Hopefully they will continue on and from what I can tell, the Portage, MI, store is one of four full line Sears in Michigan.

Even the F&F 10% off was a bit lackluster, so 5% off immediately afterwards isn't very motivating.

GearWrench 32 pc. Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set $75.99
pretty sure ive never seen it lower (or at any other price, actually) than $79.99. looks like coupons will work on it too, as well as $10.** back in points. i wish i could find just the 12pc stubby set from sears...

The GearWrench set was $71.99 (10% off) during the F&F event.
(best deal was $49.99 back in Dec for those living near a Tractor Supply Co.)

$79.99 is a common price for that set. If you're not in a rush, then you may as well wait for another 10% off tools event. Or check on it again when there's a good cashback in points offer (I think there was once a $50 points offer).

Plaid Blue and Red version of this jacket $12.97 today at my store. They had a ton at that price.

Also found the tan 9ft appliance extension cord and 6 outlet swivel surge protector on clearance, $2.97 and $3.97. Probably worth it to price check anything in the extension cord section at your store that doesn't come up using the mobile app barcode scanner. IMG_20190321_130204155.jpg

I count 6 via sears.com listings. Grandville, Lansing, Livonia, Portage, Saginaw, Westland.

Thankfully I live nearly equally distant between the Livonia and Westland stores, about 2-3 miles from either. The party of free stuff from sears continues!

Grandville just got a whole toy, dare I say, department. I'm sure they just nudged all the mattresses together to make the room, but more toys that I ever remember seeing at Sears in my ~10 years shopping there. They also significantly reduced exercise/sporting equipment, and stretched outdoor equipment & tools out. It felt full, but also a little too spread out at the same time.

Guess I'll run over there in the morning to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

I could have sworn I read that Livonia and Westland were slated to close but I suppose not. Two more places to get free stuff!

Mother-load? I suppose we do. Our Sears population fared much better than our Kmart population. I remember reading there were around 120 of them by the late 90s and now we have eleven.

Considering that there's only 1 Kmart left in the entire state of TX, 11 is not too bad either. ;)
