What was it? The site says it’s no longer available.

I did say it was unavailable. ;) Sorry, I thought the name was apparent enough from the URL, plus you can click past the overlay box and still get to see everything that was on the product webpage, except the ordering function.

The extensions are made in Taiwan, BTW, if anyone's considering them.

Hmm, interesting find. I'll see if my store still has any and the website just isn't admitting it. You can also order through the Personal Shopper app to get free shipping.

Update: Whoops, already gone for ordering. Page is in "Temporarily Unavailable" mode now.

Update 2: OOS in my store too.

My ratcheting t-handle was cancelled today, anybody else?

Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using The Garage Journal mobile app

Because it wasn't eligible for the $59 free shipping minimum, I thought I had time to order it. Stopped by the store yesterday evening to pick up an online order, and discovered the "Temporarily unavailable" when trying to use the store computer. :Violent:

If they routed your order to a Sears store for fulfillment, then an inaccuracy with the store's quantity may explain why it was canceled.

Been awhile since I've seen the Made in USA versions drop down to $19.99. Might drop another 5% off if there's a Midnight Madness sale on Thursday evening.

I'm not sure about the franchise stores, but I know the corporate stores that have closed were accepting SYW points right until the end - but only for regular merchandise, not store fixtures/supplies that aren't normally for sale (e.g. when my second-closest store closed, I bought an unused package of label maker tape for a fraction of the regular price, but had to spend all-OOP for it).

Couldn't hurt to ask about points next time you're in the area, if they're not done liquidating by then. IIRC, corporate Sears should be reimbursing for points usage at franchise locations, so it's only for price-matching or agreeing to take a non-franchise-compatible coupon that the franchises would lose money.

This is probably more of an issue with the SHOS company forcing some of their franchisees to shut down due to SHOS's ongoing supply-chain/financial troubles, which they've been gradually doing to a lot of locations over the last year or two. They're in worse shape than the reconstituted corporate Sears is now, which is why Eddie has been trying to buy up SHOS and re-merge the franchise operation with the corporate operation, but they're resisting.

Owner said I could use points, then went to ring me up and it wouldn't work. He said it was as of yesterday. So I didn't get my sand blaster.

He said all Sears hardware (and appliancea for lumped in) are being closed. Everything was 25% off at least, most 35%. They just marked down their bulk fasteners to $25 for whatever you can fit in a paper bag without breaking. They had $7+ a piece bolts and such. Would have burned all my $130 points there is easy if it worked.

He also said the other store doing this, didn't need to really mark down further. They didn't waste time and ******** with 10% off to start with, though everything is off full retail. Really nice family, so I'm bummed more for them. It was out of their control apparently.

Have both these pry bars and the ones without strike caps, like the strike caps better because they're "grippier" than the smooth ones.

I have both. The strike caps is grippier but the handle can not easily be cleaned. Mine looks dirty all the time. But it is useful to be able to hit the cap.

Darn, I guess they're killing off all the franchise locations that aren't Hometown-branded. :headscrat What a shame.

Did these ever drop more on thurs night? Also any speculations if we will actually recieve USA striking cap pry bars and not the HF clone india pry bars?

I never got a email about a Midnight Madness sale this week.

As for the Made in India pry bars without strike caps, those have a separate item number:

Craftsman 3pc.Pry Bar Set

Of course, can't stop ****** store employees from substituting items when something is out of stock for a shipping order. When that happens to me, I notice the store that sent my order is out of state, so the employee probably knew I would not be showing up to complain to them directly.

the way to delight customer in this case, is to upgrade them if possible - e.g. replace with a pro version.

Sears cares more about delighting managers' report statistics by fulfilling every order by any means necessary - if they are out of the requested product, some unscrupulous employees will grab something similar (e.g. at least *some* kind of prybars, maybe a better model or maybe a lesser model) if you're lucky, or a completely different kind of product if you're not. Or in one case recently reported on SD, they 'fulfilled' the order by shipping a tiny mailer that was completely empty, for a bulky item that never could have fit in it. :lol_hitti

In case anyone still doesn't have a set, these are quite nice. Craftsman 3 piece locking extension set:

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-p...sellerId=SEARS&prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4

$11.24 now, normally $24.99. I picked up another set yesterday and they were Taiwan made. Great if you are ever replacing spark plugs.

Thank you @tjpavlov. Got mine and used it yesterday with two other extensions + flex adaptor to reach bolt for engine block drain from fender. What a life saver!

Mine is also made in Taiwan. Still $9.99.

EDIT: I just realize Sears has 20in extension, unfortunately not on sale. I am going to keep an eye on this. Man... I thought I have everything that I need lmao

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-20-...lerId=SEARS&prdNo=39&blockNo=39&blockType=G39

Have a great day folks

Yeah, I caught that 20in 3/8in one on a rare half-price sale a couple weeks ago. It and the 20in 1/2in extension are almost never on sale, even excluded from the storewide 5%/10% sales thanks to "Great Price" status. The 14in 1/4in one is already unavailable online but can still be found in-person at some stores, as I posted about last week. I'm hoping to get the 1/2in one soon even at full price, since the phasing-out of the longest 1/4in has me nervous that the other extra-long extension sizes might be joining it in the not-too-distant future.

That is awesome!

I never thought I would ever need a 20in extension until I had to use 3 x 10in over the weekend. Still not ideal because at this length, my ratchet end up in the wheel well between the tire and fender with barely room to turn. I was too lazy to remove the tire hehe.

Ideally I needed about 40in in total, but 4 x 10in plus a flex adaptor was just too difficult to manage. A 2 x 20in would be a bit more stable and less flexing around.

If you find yourself near the store soon anyway, take a look in person, they sometimes still have some that just aren't reflected online. :)

If any of you still have a local Kmart, you can check to see if these clearance washcloths are in stock at your store, 8pk for $0.80 (the last color option is the cheap one), cheap enough for garage use:
https://www.kmart.com/essential-home-8-pack-cotton-terry-washcloths/p-048VA86454512P

My local Kmart had plenty of different colors and patterns including the $.80 ones but would not honor the on line price. Yet the store showed zero in stock on the website. Once again on line versus store inventory is not even close.

I did pick up my order of the Robertson #1 and #2 craftsman drivers. I ordered them when they were $2.99 each.

So, arrived at a Dewalt cordless drill, to match the 20v 1/4" impact I bought last month with points. Sears shows it for $159, and it's available for pickup today at my local store. They also have it from CPO for $99. But, you can't use points at non-sears. So, I look, and Lowes has it for $99. I call and ask for price match; they will price match, but then insist that it has to come from CPO, and can't use points. They will sell it to me for $159 and let me use the points, but then I'm paying the same price.
... I think that June is the last month I have points coming in, it'll be a relief to just walk away from Sears.
I went ahead and ordered the drill from Lowes. ...

For future reference on your remaining purchases, I would recommend either using the Sears.com chat or the Personal Shopper app to do your price-match requests. They're not a guaranteed home-run, but a lot more helpful than the phone support people usually.

Tried chat first, they told me they couldn't price match, had to be done by call. They gave me the # to call.

I'm a bit disgusted I wasted as much time as I did on it. I should have just bought the Lowes one, and then bought some random stuff from Sears like I ended up doing.

:wtf::wtf: That's a new one. I hope that was just a fluke, I haven't tried price-matching in a few months.

Was at Sears and saw this little 1/4” set. It wouldn’t scan on the Sears app and when I search the model number it doesn’t come up. Anyone else seen this yet? The ratchet design is what caught my eye. It was $20

The local store had two mini-ratchet versions available during the holidays, but I made the mistake of waiting on some points before buying one. Both ended up sold out, and the store has not restocked either one since then.

Here's the version without the sockets, but the current price is considerably higher than the $12-13 deals for the GearWench MicroDriver set:

Craftsman CM 31PC SET RATCHETING $21.99

Not in-stock anywhere around me, but free ship-to-store available.

prod_20384856312

They finally added the other mini-ratchet set to the website...half a year later.

Anyone seen Mayhew pry bars in their local store? The website shows them in stock, but I didn't find them when I stopped by to pick up an order.

I also just noticed that the Craftsman pliers (China) are finally showing in stock again at the nearest store, so maybe they'll start restocking other things as well.

This is upsetting to hear, because I prefer chat and the transcripts they can email you. Plus, I've never had trouble with Sears price-matching to Lowe's when a Lowe's store had the item in stock locally.

However, I just started a chat, and after a couple minutes the agent approved price-matching to the Lowe's $99 price.

The only new thing I noticed is that the agent tried to compensate for the Sears bonus points offer (earn $15 points on a +$50 purchase) :

"I checked and see that the price match is valid, however in Sears we have the $15 cash back in points which will be deducted in the price match.

So you get the price $99+$15 = $114."

I said I don't want the bonus offer, and then the agent offered the $99 price without the bonus points. I ended the chat, so I can't say how the agent will prevent a member from earning the bonus. :headscrat

There is a related part in the Sears Price Match Policy Exclusions:

"Sears will not price match items with individual Shop Your Way bonus or extra points offered."

Same here. Maybe it is just me, but I think CS is a bit more careful with the made-up BS **** when chatting because obviously we can get a transcript and potentially can get them in trouble. I was told xyz... well that is not true... well why was I told xyz if not true... here is the transcript btw... the agent name, date, time... kinda hard for them to back away when you have what they said in writing

I prefer Mayhew and Craftsman Pro pry bars compare to the regular CF pry bars because the handle feels better in my hands. But the US made CF pry bars (with and without the metal cap) is a lot cheaper.

For some reason I own several of these pry bars. I think I have enough pry bars for my lifetime lol

Yes they are legit. Saw them at my local stores. Priced very high in-store adding the online listing to my watch list to use points on for sure when they go on sale. Already have the Cman pros, Strike Cap and smooth non strike full sets so I definitely want the Mayhews for comparison.

The price match issue in my case was that the sears site has the item at two different prices: $159 from Sears, or $99 from CPO. They won't price match Lowes, instead they will sell it to me from CPO for $99. To their way of thinking, they're doing the same thing with the price. Then, they won't let me use the points as it's a partner seller, not Sears.

I think the chat agent recognized this as a no-win, so passed me off to phone support to avoid a dispute and poor rating.

This is the item that Sears agreed to price match earlier today when I tested Sears chat service:

DeWalt 20V Compact Brushless Drill/Driver

The chat agent never brought up CPO and their $99 price. :dunno:

Well, good news is it looks like Dave's experience was just a fluke. :) Every now and then you run into some rep who decides to pull some 'rule' out of thin air that nobody else knows/follows.

Here's what I ended up ordering Thursday night:

Craftsman 6in Pocket Combination Square
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-6-in-pocket-combination-square/p-A033000730
$5.00 'Hot Buy' sale, $9.29 regularly

This is a new product page, the old one was at https://www.sears.com/craftsman-7-in-pocket-combination-square/p-00939273000P (this same page had been used for both a 6in version and a 7in version)

Harbor Freight does have something very similar, for about the same price after coupon. HF's has an inch scale on one edge and millimeters on the other, while Sears's has 16ths inches on one edge and 32nds inches on the other. HF's has the markings colored in black for better readability, but Sears's doesn't.
(I went with HF for a 12in-long one with additional features, but now I'm almost out of HF gift card money, so I went with Sears so I could use points for the shorter one despite preferring higher-contrast markings. I'm ambivalent about not having metric; I use it occasionally but not that much, and the 32nds might be nice to have sometimes.)

Finally something worthwhile to buy when I have some points that expire next week.
This also will ship to the closest Kmart.

I have been receiving from Kmart a $3 free Cash off $15 for the past 4 weeks. Enough for either a package of socks , T shirts or underwear each week.

Tool selection is about useless in store or on line to ship to store .

In store inventory is poor at the local Kmart and Sears. Lots of empty shelves or my favorite is 12 boxes of windshield scrapers on display in June. Not clearance prices either

Oh, and I forgot to mention last night, the sears.com order checkout page has been totally redesigned at some point since the last time I did an online order (it's been a few weeks, my last few purchases were in-store).

If you want to get to the option to enable the text-message notification when your order is ready for pickup, and the phone number for it to be sent to, it's now hidden under a "Change" link ostensibly for changing who is picking up the order (great intuitive design choice, Sears  ).
