It doesn’t appear to be listed on sears.com anymore, but the bare 3/8 C3 impact is down to 69.94. Sure probably better 3/8 setups out there but I don’t have the space for another battery charger for a different brand and like that I can easily switch between my Cman 1/2 (bought for a $100 spend get $100 deal) and the new 3/8 same battery.

It took a little convincing but I got them to sell me the store display. She gave me an additional coupon for being a store display and I cashed in $15 in points for a little over $50 out the door. So if you see any floor sample tools you want now that there is virtually nothing left in store they will probably sell it to you. Weirdly they left the security ******** it, said I would have to agree to remove it as a condition of sale. If that isn’t an indication they are not long for this world I don’t know what is. Keep in mind this was at a very profitable store not on any closing list.

This is the first I have ever heard a store leaving their security ******** an item. But I think you got a great deal here, congrats!

They maybe having IT issues (AGAIN!). I just tried to check my order history since I still missing $10 cash back that was pending this morning from last weeks deals. System was down stated there was a temporary service issues.

I think IT issue too... Picked up some order on Monday... they were hand written it in my area sears, instead of using the kiosk, but surprisingly by the time I got home, the order were updated on the web as picked up... just few other orders they can't find or are still in "processing" state... weird.

I picked up the order listed above by me And all of the price check scanners were missing from the kiosk and the only desktop I looked at said something about updating the system.

The Kmart order I picked up later immediately updated my $10 cash back.

I couldn’t get at that stores desktop since there was a potential employee there trying to do an on line application for about 30 minutes.

So I did a ship to store order and picked it up yesterday. Sears really missed the mark on this, at my store at least.

You find the empty lobby over by the mattresses and scan your bar code with the kiosk shown. You then have to manually enter your credit card number because the reader is broken. Now your name pops up on the screen in the corner and a timer starts. After a few minutes someone comes out from the back and hands you your order which has a your name and order number hand written on a sheet of paper that's taped to a plastic shopping bag.

Mind you, there's absolutely no one in this part of the store.

My store has a dedicated pickup entrance that say "Merchandise Pickup" on the outside of the building there. It is normally empty unless other customers happen to be picking up something at the same time as me, which is to be expected. It's not as nice-looking as your pickup area - mine only has 2 chairs, and they have ugly cracked vinyl seats. Mine's credit card reader has been broken for years too.

With a few exceptions (one a couple weeks ago with the manager being an *** instead of apologizing for their screwup), I have had good service from the pickup people and am in and out in well under 5 minutes. Most other non-Sears stores I've done pickups at have not been nearly so prompt.

If you ever have an issue with the pickup kiosk where you can't get to the point of it summoning an employee with your item, there's a solution for there not being anyone around to ask, as long as the kiosk isn't completely broken - just use the Help '?' button in one of the lower corners of the kiosk screen, it will create an empty pickup request so an employee comes out to ask what you need.

...
It took a little convincing but I got them to sell me the store display. She gave me an additional coupon for being a store display and I cashed in $15 in points for a little over $50 out the door. Weirdly they left the security ******** it, said I would have to agree to remove it as a condition of sale. ...

I've heard in the past few years that store equipment in general has really gone downhill, e.g. having to cobble together parts/batteries from a diminishing number of still-working portable tag printers. So I suspect they lost or broke the tool they were supposed to use to remove that type of security cable.

At least it looks like it was just a tether, with no parts that would start beeping. BTW, if any of you do ever have to DIY remove one of those beeping ones, please destroy it (with a hammer or something) before throwing it in the trash, so you don't end up getting the bomb squad called out. ;)

Ordered 11 things and got 7 boxes.... They did ship me some socket rail clips in place of the socket cap set so I had to get on the chat once again...

Went to Gaithersburg MD store yesterday. They are closing too so picked up a few things. Checking later on prices were excellent. I understand the Security Square store is closing too in a similar time frame. I think there may only be a few stores left in Maryland.

30 piece socket accessory set ~ $30
4 pack Huge screwdrivers ~ $13
the biggest score was the toolbox dividers / organizer I got like 4 of them for $2.49 each. They are like $20 online.

So depressing though, I feel like i am picking through the belongings of a neighbor that just died or something.

Had the same feeling going through the sears in Huntington WV... Wish I couldve went a few weeks earlier but I also found the tool box dividers for cheap along with a nice leather tool belt for $40.

My Sears in Portage, MI, will be closed for good on November 10th. I wasn't able to buy the lettering off the building but I did get one of the Craftsman Tool signs and the big blue signs with the latest Sears logo and the making moments matter signs. I haven't given up on acquiring the SEARS lettering yet!

I would like to mention that my last few orders have arrived very quickly, two to three business days most often. Though the local Sears closed in January, sears.com is still open for me.

Sorry to hear. I stopped in their once, and potentially I could be down that way tomorrow for something else, but it was a ghost town a year or two ago. Like I wasn’t even sure the place was open when I drove up.

Only thing I really would like, and if you think they have one I’m definitely stopping, is the bolt/screw thread measuring device.

Congrats on your signage so far, BDS. :) It'd be cool to see a few photos when you can.

As someone who also does some actual estate sale shopping, I'd suggest to try thinking of it more as finding a good home for things which could otherwise end up in a dumpster, plus you get to have something to remember them by.

I will snap a few photos when I make it out to the garage after I finish some coffee. It is the first morning we have frost here so I am a bit slow to get moving.

This store has pretty much been a ghost town for a few years now; I swear I was the one keeping the lights on there for the last two. There really isn't too much left on the lower level where the tools and appliances are and is pretty much all fixtures left.

This is insane. This is for the 3 pc. quick release extensions that are $8.94. This is like 9 1/2 months out for an instore pick-up date. It is now quicker to have a baby than it is to get an order from Sears.

Holy ****! I wonder what algorithm produced that date?! As much as I don't want to see Sears relegated to the dustbin of history, I will be quite surprised if Sears is even around by July 10th.

I made it down to my local store today to pick up the 40 piece rethreading kit from a few pages back. A big thank you to everyone who has been posting in this thread - I've been following it for a long time but my post count hasn't been high enough to post in this forum.

I got the $10 in points from ordering that kit, and for the first time I absolutely couldn't find any tools to use them on. In the past I've definitely used points on things that I wouldn't otherwise buy but that seemed worth it when it's free. But this time I just couldn't find anything at all, that I didn't already have. I ended up using them on clothes.

For those who ordered the Hulk compressor and were worried whether it would really ship at that price, someone on SD got their store pickup notification today 10/22, so things are looking good. :)

Fingers crossed but I have my doubts, mine was estimated to be here (at store for pick up) on the 22nd, but it's still not here or at least I haven't received the email that it's here ready for pick up.

you gotta be careful about those shipped to store pickups.... I had 4 pcs of drill bits/driver combo thing shipped to the store in my local area... the associates could not locate them for more than 10 days after UPS delivered to them... that is after I call the Customer Service line and they send an email to the store manager to investigate, even that took 3 days for them to respond.... that happened to two of my orders... funny thing is , every time I go there they were horse playing around or on their personal phone instead of doing the inventory....

The point is... dependents on your area... they might be just sitting on it till the egg hatch or something...

Sometimes the system does not generate pickup notices anymore. Or sometimes it would have if the store employees had checked in your package properly when it arrived, but they didn't. Check your order history for a tracking number (sometimes it's available, sometimes not) and see if the tracking number shows it's been delivered. If you don't have a tracking number, ask Sears.com chat for the real status of your order, they can see additional details we can't. Or if your store isn't too far away, stop by and see if your order shows up in the kiosk as ready for pickup.

Throw in this code to save an additional $5. Although my PS usually doesn't apply coupons and offer free shipping... SAVE5OFF50

Do you mean the PS won't allow both the discount coupon and free shipping on one order? The Garage Glider doesn't have any special tags like 'Hot Buy' or 'Clearance' that prohibit discount coupons.

At $54.99, this might beat out whatever BF price next month.

Yeah, I've been searching other departments for anything I can use.

Here's a tool dept item I didn't have. I thought it had a fixed width, but a recent customer review revealed it can expand. Don't really have to use it to hold a multimeter.

The opening is about 2 1/2" inches (not including the rubber grips), and I stretched it out another 1 inch before I started worrying about breaking the spring. There's a felt pad on the back covering the magnets, and that might be why the holder started to slide down when I placed a 20oz rip claw on it. It did better with a 16.9oz bottle of water, but the package claims 2.2 lbs.

It's now showing "Dec 4" for that Cassville Hometown store, so I guess it was a temporary glitch. :dunno:

Regular Sears stores are showing either "Pick up today" or November pickup dates.

This has been in the works for months, and now it's official. Transform Holdco and various affiliated Eddie-owned companies became the majority owner of the Sears Hometown Stores franchise portion of SHOS last week.
https://seekingalpha.com/news/3508845-sears-hometown-outlet-plus-2_7-percent-merger-transaction
https://www.streetinsider.com/SEC+F...ET+Filed+by:+ESL+PARTNERS,+L.P./16052524.html

The outlet stores were sold off to a company called Franchise Group, which also owns Liberty Tax Service, Buddy’s Home Furnishings, and will soon own Vitamin Shoppe.

This is the first I have heard of that store closing. Back in January I was going through Warren and stopped at this store to check it out. Aside from the dated looks the store was clean, stocked, organized, AND had a decent amount of "members" inside. As far as I know the Warren store was the only Kmart in Michigan that had the "newest" logo. The most peculiar aspect of this store were the "L" shaped aisles in the middle of the store; of all the Sears/Kmart stores I have been in, this was definitely a one-off.

I hate to say this and see people lose their jobs, but the whole chain needs to just close and put an end to the seventeen year, slow death the chain is going through. It is frustrating to watch, after working a decade in retail, to see how piss-poor management destroyed two retail icons. At one point there were 135-ish Kmart stores here in Michigan in the late 90s and now we're down to two once all of the remaining stores are liquidated; Marshall and Waterford. I shop the Marshall store weekly and it is a top ten store but the real interesting store that is left is Waterford. That store still has the avocado green floor tiles AND an operating auto service center. I still can't figure out what restaurant was attached to it, it kinda looks like a Big Boy with the sloping glass roof, but could easily be a glitzed up K-cafe.

The Sears in Portage Michigan is down to its last few days. I know that there are some guys that wanted a sign or two. They have a scrap metal dumpster in the auto center bays to keep people out.

A store closure announcement I don't think has been posted yet:

Kmart in Warren, Macomb County, Michigan
https://www.macombdaily.com/news/lo...cle_20fb581e-f5e6-11e9-9536-13f5701410c1.html
As of Oct 23, "The liquidation sale is in process and the store is planned to close at year-end."

Another closing that I haven’t seen yet: Sears at Canton, Ohio. Closing to be completed between year end and mid January.

I was told November 10th is the last day for the store to sell merchandise but will remain open for the next week only to sell fixtures. I've been on them about the lettering on the building but they wont budge. We'll see how it goes on the 11th if they decide to let them go.
