The Sears BF deals are a big MEH. Some prices are not even matching what is advertised in the BF ad.

https://www.sears.com/deals/center/...ll=hp_DB_S1_shopall_CTA&soldBy=sears&sort=asc

Maybe some can take advantage of this early BF offer available for today:

Craftsman LED Pocket Light - Blue $4.99 with 100% cashback in points

Only the blue one. The 100% is calculated on your OOP payment, minus taxes.

"Members get 100% CASHBACK in points when you purchase a Blue Craftsman LED Pocket Light at Sears. Points award immediately and are good for 7 days. LIMIT 4 per member. While supplies last.Valid through November 24, 2019 11:59 PM CST"

spin_prod_1086778612

They made it sound like Sunday will be a preview day for the BF deals, but I see their homepage is still promoting it today.

Deal center link still goes to Yikes for me. :headscrat

Thanks for sharing the LED light deal. I still haven't gotten one of those yet (there's been posts about them several times in the past), and I'm hopefully about to spend more than $5 OOP on something else, so it seems like it makes sense to get the light almost-free too (only come out behind by the amount of sales tax).

How about today? I got the link from their homepage.

Please provide link and/or screen shot to the price mismatch so I can help.

Are you a Sears employee? I don't understand how you can fix the website
In these type of situations, customer service will tell you the ad is for in-store only and the website is a separate business.

Well, here's an example of a mismatch:

Craftsman 20V MAX Cordless Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit $119.99 (advertised in BF flyer as $84.99)

So with Lowe's carrying craftsman, has anyone try to warranty CF item (bought at Sears) at Lowe's?

I have this digging fork that I broke over the weekend.
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-4-tine-d-handle-digging-fork/p-07183517000P

Lowes has similar (different length, and it has hardwood handle vs fiberglass)
https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-...0zHfge6Q1rdDDwFtlnBoC62AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Any thoughts if I should try to warranty it at Lowe's? Nearest hometown store is ~40 min away, so not worth ~2hr for this.

What does it hurt to ask? :D

Though, complaints on the Craftsman Facebook page seem to indicate that Lowe's employees are checking the model numbers. So, most likely they will give you the Craftsman phone number to call, and then the Craftsman menu system will transfer you to Sears.

Well... I do not want to be that guy who try to warranty an item to the wrong store and everyone looks at me like I am crazy :lol_hitti

You are correct, that is exactly what I have in mind, the model number do not match, so now what :headscrat

I am going to throw this broken digging fork in the trunk. Next time I go to Lowe's, I am going to ask and will definitely report back here.

They delisted all the craftsman ornaments lol. Guess I should have bought them when they were 5.99.

Looks like some of them are still available in some locations, they've just taken away the nationwide shipping. Only some of them have gone to the dreaded "Temporarily Unavailable" which is usually not temporary.

If you still have a local store, even ones that say they're no longer available for pickup in your area (or even "Temporarily Unavailable" nationwide) sometimes still have one left on the shelf. AFAIK, each store only receives 3 of each design.

Does Sears ever have "points not eligible for redemption" on anything on-line?

I saw that disclaimer when Sears was updating my order cart, but when I looked at my orders, there was no longer a disclaimer.

Sometimes freecash doesn’t work on stuff like Hot Buys. The disclaimer you saw I think was added with the new cart and sometimes pops up when it’s loading.

Darn Sears!

I spend $115 yesterday to get the 4 x $25 cashback offers. I wanted to buy this Craftsman top tool chest:

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-26-in-6-drawer-heavy-duty-ball/p-00937711000P

Two days ago, it was temporarily out of stock, so I (mistakenly in retrospect) didn't make the $100 purchase.

Yesterday, it was back in stock at $69.99. So with $25 off, I could have gotten it for $45.

So, I spend the $100 yesterday, my cashback kicked in today, and they raised the price of the chest to $100, negating my cash back offer!

Any strategies or tips, eg waiting on daily fluctuations in this price?

If you think the price is coming down in the next 30 days you can gamble to buy it now and price match later. You can also try chatting PS and/or Sears CS. Tell them that you want to buy now but price went back up. Can they honor the price from yesterday?

Not sure if this has been mentioned earlier in the thread, but they are selling the 92in adjustable workbench for $150 (the 72 is $100 more).

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-96-...b849cc0105711ea83d300b20a24060c&utm_source=CJ

On top of that, there was $25 cashback points, so total came to $125 with free store pickup.

Thanks. I've been looking for a deal on a workbench. $15 cashback today and another $101 cashback in installments. Can't beat that.

Edited to add: It's got a bottle opener and a power strip too.

Go to the product page on Sears.com (on a regular computer, not a smartphone). Open the chat. Select the option for asking about a new order, rather than an existing order. Explain what your situation is and give them the link to the product you want. Sometimes it takes a while, so do it when you're not about to have to rush off for something, but usually they are pretty helpful.

Freecash surprise points always works on Hot Buys (I know I've used freecash on Hot Buys several times during the blowout sale the last couple months), but I think some *coupons* don't.

There are about half a dozen different not-actually-applicable error messages that appear briefly during the loading process of cart pages sometimes, and then disappear as the page finishes loading. They don't mean anything if they don't stick around, the programmers were just too dumb to hide them properly when they aren't needed, without the weird disappearing act.

There are some items that you really cannot use points on online anymore - household batteries, grocery and health/beauty stuff from Kmart, maybe one other category I don't recall. This was implemented just a few months ago. It can all still be bought with points if you go in a local store to do it, though.

Thanks, Hexen.

There's a K-Mart kinda far from my place. I haven't been in one in years. Is it worth it to stop by there to look for deals, or is Sears the better place?

$149.94 to be precise - blowout pricing. I don't recall seeing it mentioned before, though it would be surprising for something to be newly added to the blowout sale this late in the game. But SD just noticed it late last night and a bunch of people got excited about it; one even said they've been "waiting for a great deal on this work bench for quite a while".

Another useful comment from SD: "I have the one with the bottle opener. I sanded the finish off mine and stained it cherry. I also replaced all the fasteners because they're soft screws and easy to strip when you try to adjust it. It's all stainless bolts now, which are easier to adjust and it gives it a more industrial look."

If you haven't gotten all the tools you want from Sears, stick with Sears, unless you're desperate to save money on anything edible without being picky about what brand/flavor it is. At most of the remaining locations, from what I've heard, Kmart doesn't have a lot of name-brand groceries anymore, and the selection is pretty sparse even in what they do have (items lined up one-deep with large spaces in between). Kmart is still a great place to get large plastic storage totes, if you have a need for that, though. They've been lining otherwise-empty aisles with large quantities of those for a couple years now.

I am seeing $100 in bonus points. That is pretty awesome deal.

Yep, that's the deal they've been running for a couple weeks now - spend $100 OOP, get $100 back in 4 $25 biweekly installments. You can do it as much as once per day for the whole 4ish weeks the deal runs, which is unprecedented.

And for those who've started getting your $25 installments, here's another nice item I was surprised to see is still available (ship-to-home and ship-to-store) while going through my order history:

Craftsman CM Universal External Thread Repair Tool
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-cm-universal-external-thread-repair-tool/p-00938948000P
$24.99 sale, $32.99 regularly

I got it for $28.49 back in January (regular price was $29.99 at that time).

This is also a really good price if you don't have these yet. They have been in and out of stock; I jumped on them at full price (minus points) last spring when they finally reappeared after months of being MIA, then they went OOS for months again. They finally reappeared again recently. I'm not that thrilled with most of the new-ish Craftsman pliers with this handle design that came out a couple years ago, but there are very few brands offering pliers with this wide of an opening, and the few competitors are much more expensive even when this one isn't on sale.

Craftsman 13-In. Arc Joint Wide Capacity Pliers
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-13-in-arc-joint-wide-capacity-pliers/p-00971620000P
$17.94 sale (blowout Hot Buy), $32.99 regularly

"These wide jaw pliers are capable of gripping objects from 5/8-in. all the way to 4.5-in."

The bottom rolling cart is missing the handle:

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-26-...SellerId=Sears&prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4

p-009CO81081612B

Where do I find the handle? Part number?

Thanks

I was browsing the Lowe's BF ad again, and remembered your missing tool box handle.

Since Stanley Black & Decker bought out Waterloo, some of the Craftsman boxes at Lowe's might be using the same handle used on your Sears Craftsman box. So I wonder if you can order that handle from SBD. :headscrat

Of course, you'd have to inspect a display tool box at a Lowe's store, and verify that the positions of the mounting holes all match up to the Sears version.

Good idea, those handles do look identical to me. I hadn't been aware (or hadn't recalled) that SBD swallowed up Waterloo too! They are quite the tool empire.

workbench is back up to $299. there were some stainless ones on the blowout sale, but at higher prices. if anyone snagged one for $150 (minus your freecash) and got the $100 back then id say you got a killer deal

Someone at SD said this afternoon that the in-store $10 texting coupon is only good on a single item that costs $10+, unlike all previous coupons that allowed combining multiple items to reach the threshold. I used mine on a single item, so I can't confirm if that's accurate.

(Update: Thanks to Captain14 below, we know that was wrong. I don't know why it didn't work on the SD guy's items, but must have been some other problem.)

A few days ago, I commented on this offer. I tried it on my SYW phone and a phone not registered with Sears. I never got the coupon reply back, and that was on 11/24/19, when the $10 off $10 was supposed to take effect.

If anyone got this coupon, would they post it here?

Finally had time to check out my Northern Tool store today. They had run out of the pre-BF free item I wanted, so that was disappointing, but I was able to see the Craftsman stuff.

What I looked at was all on one endcap. I didn't go up and down every aisle, but this was the only Craftsman area I noticed with a quick look around. I think there was supposed to be a toolbox, maybe that was off with other toolboxes.

Nothing had production date stickers on the back like I'd hoped. They do all say 'Distributed by Sears Brands' or similar references to Sears, in the fine print.

The screwdriver sets are made in USA by Western Forge ("WF" on the handles). All the other items are made in China.

Craftsman 104 pc. Mechanic's Service Set
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-104-pc-mechanics-tool-set/p-A028767599
I had thought this was still being sold by Sears - $99.94 sale, $339.99 regularly - since it loaded with a ship-to-home option the first time I looked at the page, but reloading it a few minutes later has it now saying "Temporarily unavailable", so I dunno. The item number on the box at NT is 9-32104, while the one on the Sears page is 00998944000 (9-98944).
That Sears product page claims it's been around since 2010, but I bet that's a lie copied-and-pasted from a previous incarnation, since the reviews are all from 2018 and 2019.
It looks like the one NT got is actually this one that Ace Hardware got under the 932104 item number, actively for sale at $99.99: https://www.acehardware.com/departments/tools/hand-tools/sockets/2136984 ("00932104")

The cordless drill is from the C3 19.2v line, item number 9-46138. Apparently that line has been around since about 2000ish, which is amazing that anyone is still selling any of it, but the last time a new tool was added to the line was 2014, according to this (and now everything except the basic drill and a 3pc kit have been discontinued). The 3/8" drill is still actively being sold by Ace under the matching 00946138 item number, for $89.99: https://www.acehardware.com/departments/tools/power-tools/cordless-drills/2401735
I didn't find it active on the Sears site under any item number. It has had several other numbers that have been discontinued.

The sander is item number 9-11218, a 5-in 2.8-amp design with very little red on the tool body. (There have been several other sanders with similar specs in a flashier-looking body with more red accents.)
Previously sold by Sears, no longer available: https://www.sears.com/cm-2.8amp/p-00911218000P
The Sears page claims it had only been around since 2016, which seems implausible for such a dated-looking design. They even have a product photo of a very old-looking box (the one at NT has a newer box design than that).
I could not find a page on the Ace website still listing this item (Ace seems to have recently switched to the new SBD-redesigned 3-amp Craftsman sander, and they are unfortunately much quicker than Sears at removing dead product pages), but I know Ace used to sell the sander as 00911218, thanks to this old deal webpage: http://findnsave.sfgate.com/offer/C...al-Sander-28-amps-12000-opm00911218/62341469/

The easy-release locking pliers set is item number 9-45713, the same number I bought them under at Sears a few years ago, though they are no longer available from Sears. https://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-pc-locking-pliers-set/p-00945713000P
I couldn't find evidence that Ace sold them too, but based on the trend so far, I bet they did.

As mentioned, the screwdrivers are a Western Forge-made 14pc set, which I assume means they must be several years old, from before Sears had the falling-out with WF. I neglected to get a close enough photo of the top of the screwdriver package to read the Craftsman item number on it, but I bet it's this set: https://www.reddit.com/r/Tools/comm...sub_has_a_lovehate_view_of_craftsman/e92rqb7/ (links to a page for Ace SKU 2399087 which no longer exists, but was for a Craftsman 14pc set). Ace must have had quite a stash of WF screwdrivers in reserve since they were still selling them in large quantities last Christmas.

So, in conclusion, my new theory is that Ace Hardware has decided to switch to SBD-Craftsman ("New Craftsman products are here", they say), and is gradually dumping their remaining stock of Sears-Craftsman products to Northern Tool. :eek2: That means Sears is losing another income stream.

I responded to your post a couple times - once asking questions to try to help you troubleshoot, and then a follow-up Sunday night sharing that someone who works at my store was able to successfully get the coupon so I knew the text system was working at that time.

If anyone got this coupon, would they post it here?

It doesn't work like that, they are single-use coupons. If someone who no longer has a local store wants to use their phone to get you one, they need to PM it to you so nobody else uses it before you can.

Well, for the newer products coming from SBD, the apples-to-apples comparison would be Lowes.com. Either way, though, Ace has usually been more expensive than most other stores. I generally only shop at Ace when:
- I need something no other local store carries, usually individual nuts/bolts/washers/screws (if HD/Lowes even have the right variety, you have to buy a bag of 10 there)
- they have a super-special sale, like when I got some cans of bug spray really cheap a few years ago
- they had a special coupon during the grand opening of their newest store in my area about a decade ago

Their primary customer base is the people with more room in their budgets who like the personal service, usually more knowledgeable than the Lowes/HD employees. Ace runs a lot of TV ads with the slogan "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks".

These ratcheting wrenches are marked down from $109 to $29.
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-8-piece-144-position-ratcheting-combination-wrench/p-A028767516

Metric: https://www.sears.com/craftsman-8-p...ic-ratcheting-combination-wrench/p-A028767339

Anyone have any comment on quality and what they're really worth?
Thanks.
[corrected link to the metric set]

I have not used these, but they sound nice. There is only one real review, on the metric set, but it is encouraging:

"I live [love] these ratchets so far holding really well made I’ve been abusing them for months now I just wish they sold individual pieces for a more complete set. ..."

It does look like another case of fake product-page dates - claims to be from 2010, but only one review and one non-review both from 2019, and the 'A' numbers in the URL instead of the 00 numbers, say otherwise. Almost certainly made in China, but probably the upper tier of Chinese quality.

The ratchets have twice as many teeth/positions as this set.

Looks like they are/were part of the Craftsman Ultimate Collection line that was introduced in early 2019 (which Sears is no longer calling Ultimate Collection online due to the SBD lawsuit): https://www.aftermarketnews.com/sears-launches-exclusive-new-line-of-craftsman-tools-for-mechanics/

The 104 piece set currently sold was the “Ultimate Collection” one. These were relabeled or labeled without the “Ultimate Collection” label following the lawsuit over it. I got one last week on clearance that hadn’t been relabeled. It’s a completely different set. I attached a pic. They don’t seem to popular but it’s a nicer set then most of their current stuff. I think they use a different vendor for these. Completely different set altogether.

The 104 piece set you posted actually might be from last year’s Christmas stuff, I am pretty sure its the one I bought for my son to toss in his car.

For C3 stuff I think everything except the complete set and impact are discontinued.

Some WF screwdrivers were floating around and packed with certain mechanics sets.

These could all be leftovers if they are emptying warehouses.

As far as those ratcheting wrenches in the other post, the 10 piece set you linked is the same as the $15 ones they had during the blowout sale sold as a whole set but with two fewer wrenches. The problem with having them now is if you bought both 6 piece sets and the $2 roll pouch it made a nice little set. I made a set like that to toss in my wife’s car.

The other set is different notice how they don’t look like lobster claw wrenches? They’re a different vendor. I think they sell them as Ultimate Collection ones or were. They did however exist as far back as 2017, as part of the “bonus” mechanics Black Friday sets that year they had these and the good ratchets. They marked them to $176 for the 346 piece or whatever it was after Christmas and I got one when they were doing $150 back in points (which was then still lump sum). These wrenches are better made than the other wrenches. These have held up OK and unlike the “Ultimate Collection” set I just bought I’ve actually had time to use them.

Sears did have some nice Chinese vendors they used for some stuff back in the day, in fact this looks like the vendor that made the good Companion wrenches like 8 years ago. I got two sets of those because they looked nice and had a nice case. I put a pic up on here of the unused backup set (well not exactly true, I was lazy and used one of the wrenches to change a car battery after I took the pic).

I saw a mention recently that the famous Guam Kmart does $150 million a year in sales revenue - over $400,000 per day. (This is all before expenses.) I got curious how that compares to other Sears/Kmart stores.

The last full-year official numbers released (before the company went private after bankruptcy and no longer has to report anything) were from the '2017' year which ended in Feb 2018. https://searsholdings.com/press-releases/pr/2082

Kmart had $5,618,000,000 revenues from 432 stores, which is about $13,000,000 average per store for the whole year, or about $35,000 per store per day.

Sears had $11,084,000,000 revenues from 570 stores, which is about $19,500,000 average per store for the whole year, or about $53,000 per store per day.

(There would be many lower days with occasional high-revenue days to average to those daily numbers. And those totals probably included online sales, with no way for me to separate that out.)

Here someone who used to work at what sounds like a full-line Sears says they thought their store was doing about $10,000-$30,000 per day most of the time, until they went into liquidation, when it shot up to $50,000-$90,000 per day.

And here someone who worked at one of the small-format Sears Home & Life stores says they only did $8,000 per day on "a really good day", and $1,000 or less on most days.

PS: While looking for those numbers, I came across another press release from May 2019... DieHard contracted with a Chinese company called YAT to make DieHard-branded lawn/garden equipment. "The new DieHard lawn and garden products are planned to become available at retail beginning in fall of 2019 and will include line trimmers, blowers and chain saws, followed by other portable lawn and garden equipment." We're way past the start of Fall 2019 now without hearing anything further about this, so I wonder if it's just running behind schedule, or has been cancelled.

There’s about a 6 month lead time in retail for certain products. Employees were telling the customers that DieHard garden and some tools were coming early next year just a week or two ago when I was there. I dunno about the tools, if they were garden tools, to replace craftsman or just some extra stuff like Companion/Evolve (could explain why a lot of Evolve stuff was in the blowout sale).
